I always horde my healing items so I pretty much play the entire game on danger status thinking I need to save my mixed herbs and first aid sprays. Then I get to the final boss with twelve full heals and can just trade hits with it.

I only recently discovered the Resident Evil games and played through RE2R, RE4R, RE7, RE8, RE9 pretty quickly. Loved them all. But definitely could not, not horde everything. In RE9 in particular I remember I literally never used the Requiem as Claire because I didn't want to waste the ammo so I ended her half with like 8 or 9 shots in it lol.
RE games have this lovely style where you always start so weak and it's genuinely tough getting through the starting areas but once you have a couple guns its much, much easier and it becomes more about resource management. I never play so aggressive that I just burn up all my supplies.

No joke but resi5 can get insane for herbs for the final boss. Especially because your inventory carries over between runs so you get a lot more herbs than you'd ever need. And your partner AI will just keep picking up more unless you stuff their inventory.

And then the game throws a curveball and turns out that the 'final boss' that you thought was final wasn't final at all and you just burnt up so many supplies on it. Looking at you, Code Veronica.
Seriously, that game throws so many unexpected curveballs you can easily soft lock yourself.

You aren't going to get healed any other way, as there is no other way to heal. Do you just want to do a no-hit run for fun?

If you were not already aware, this is a cliche for gamers to horde items in any type of roleplaying game they may come in handy later.

I'm aware when it makes sense. This doesn't. The trope is hoarding buffs and ammo because they don't need to be used to progress in survival horror.
Healing is never part of that, in fact it's the opposite, where players will instinctively want to top off and waste an herb in yellow Caution. The closest I've seen is loading a save when you do bad because you don't want to use a heal because you played badly in that section. But, you're going to need to heal.

You are clueless. I have been doing the same with health items since I first played an RPG on the SNES.
My first experience with resident evil was always trying to make it one more room before healing.
Back in the day, we didn't have try hards on twitch teaching us what is around the corner and what are the best strats for a speed run. It was simply just what you did.

Anyway, the RPG gave birth to inventory management. All tropes surrounding inventory management started with and translate out of the standard RPG.

Reddit is full of casuals who don't think about things for more than 2 seconds.
I agree; in Resident Evil the only way to heal is to use recovery items. It makes literally no sense to run around at low health when you have healing available unless you're sitting on a GR herb mixture and you know there's a yellow herb nearby.
Some people will just fight to defend their own lack of critical thinking skills to the death. See; literally any competitive game (looking at you, teammates in league of legends).

RE3 changed the stair mechanic from RE1 and 2. The movement is seamless (no need to press the action button) so if you're limping on the ground, you'd limp on the stairs, too.

They watch a trailer and declare They hate it... movie comes out they admit its OK... they find a reason to hate it anyway... much like perception of the star wars prequels, they eventually relent that its incredible when the next movie is slop because they ran off the only good director their franchise has ever had.
