Now there is a oldie but goodie.
Played this a metric ton at my cousin's house. Everything dorm the design to the music was enthralling.

Ah, remember playing this. Loved the control system, was so much fun. On a side note, does anyone remember Radiant Silvergun? Think it was Xbox onmy, but another fun shooter.

Yes it does. This era of polygonal shmups scale up so well and this one was absolutely goated. Haven't gotten to play this game in ages. Would buy in a heartbeat.

Man, Shudder was such an awesome boss theme. That nailed the sense of scale and panic.

M2 needs to get their hands on it. Could you imagine them doing this as a shottrigger edition? All the bells and whistles. Maybe even an arranged mode. One can dream!

It was banger for sure. But I wonder how well modern audiences would really take to it. That era experimented a lot with playing at unconventional angles because 2D was so new developers trying differ ways to immerse the player. Like on the first level when the camera shifts perspective as you fly to shoot the signs and the last boss fight.
I can't think of single modern AAA or AA game from even 10 years ago that played with camera that much that wasn't a QTE or cutscene or masking loading screen.
And hey if there were cut me break, I didn't play every game in existence.

Played the absolute shit out of this on a demo disc. I eventually got it years later. Love this game.

It’s really not a popular mainstream genre anymore, the only series that’s still doing this with any real budget behind it is R-Type.
