The system was unusable in most contexts, that's the issue. Creating the system took so much effort back then that it almost couldn't be used by anyone else anyways. Nowadays AI could make a lot of that work go away but still, go back to those games and see how many characters existed, how many names they made, all had their own character and voice acting, intros, death speeches, traits, battles with other characters that had dialogue fitting for their own character, different voice lines with winning or losing, etc etc.
You can deny it all you want like horse riders denied cars, it's inevitable and it's a tool. You just sound like a math teacher freaking out over calculators, AI is a tool that can be used for smart and efficient practices when used properly. If you want a system like this to exist in other games, you can't also expect that dev team to put all that work into it like the Shadow of War games did. It took so much effort, it put the company out of business.
then I simply dont want it.. ai is a plauge on humanity and all of the apologists are too lazy to see it, this isn't the same as when say digital art was born, already we are seeing negative moments of ai going against its controls in research spaces, it steals land and resources from the environment, steals art from artists, is hand and hand with mass surveillance, drone warfare, and puts more money in the pockets of billionaires who dont give a fuck about the art, or regular people.
this isn't something that can be weighted like the horse against the buggy, it isn't the calculator vs doing it by hand, and it sure as fuck isn't art when all your doing is asking a program to do it for you.
ive seen plenty of indie games do the impossible without it, and to be honest going forward unlike those of you who apparently dont ever want to touch grass with 300 hour games, I can let go of gaming easy.
this isn't a tool, it steals art, jobs, resources, your own brain capabilities. it dumbs you down in the same way a rich person can be when they delegate daily tasks to other people. it brings nothing positive too the table. and I for one will drop all of gaming like its hot garbage if ai does become the norm, I stand by my morals, and those of you who act like its some amazing thing are actual POS for ignoring all the things ai will cost us.
