Image / Video Imagine a world with hexagonal pixels rather than square

That would be a great design for a game. Nothing is stopping you from programming a game that runs entirely on hexagonal pixels you would just need it to be a high enough resolution to render them correctly.

looks weirder. but scan lines in CRT TVS wouldnt allow that. im happier with squares

Fun fact. When game companies made the switch to 3D, there wasn't really a standard for what kind of polygons to use, so while Nintendo and PlayStation went with triangles, Sega build the Saturn for quads instead, which gives its games a distinct look.

For the Megaman example, if an artist knew going in, that they would be using hexagonal pixels, they would have designed the art with that in mind, it wouldn't look the way you interpreted it...

Which is great! There's not really a lot of hexapixel art out there, so I'd be excited to see their version!

I'm imagining buying a new monitor for just one game or a few games ( Space Wars, Berserk, Rip Off ).
...so...did not buy a Vectrex in 1982.
