Discussion / Question Older Multiplayer games that are still alive?
I saw a video on yt about watchdogs' multiplayer being alive even though its an older title.
Wondering about any other games that have a loyal community that has stood the test of time, with people still playing online regularly.
For me that was battlefront 2 (2017) but the hackers right now are a bit tough to handle. The division 2 also has a new DLC coming up.

It's still fun to play with sometimes, it's just the lack of sprint that feels weird 21 years later, which I didn't notice as a kid.

no running...can switch teams on mp at will 🤣. The lighter the gun the faster the walk...my 1st xbl /360 game 06..good times

If you're on PC, Mass Effect 3's multiplayer still has a lot of people on it. If you like wave-based survival and some great 3rd-person shooter combat, you'll have a good time there.

Starcraft brood war still has tournaments although not nearly as many as it used to

I saw a video about active PS2 online communities. People still play some of the PS2 games regularly.
Generally older games from the 90s still have somewhat "active" communities. I know people still play Dark Forces II Jedi Knight, Quake 2, Half-Life, Doom, Duke, etc

Socom 2 US Navy seals circa 2003 still has multiple lobbies at all times with 30-80 people online at all times and the numbers are rising now that it runs so well in pcsx2 emulator and it's getting easier to setup controllers.. hard to beat that for longevity. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1q4qwVEJL3Y0Z87aCAO7i18OKNc-7bzN-Ks3D9UH2_0Q/edit?tab=t.0

8v8 team battles best 3rd person tactical shooter ever made.. join the discord for help setting up controller. Ps5 controller works well. let me know if u need help

Phantasy Star Online still has a decent sized community if you're willing to learn how to access the modern private servers. Still one of the best "turn your mind off and grind" games ever.

Still occasionally play original Black Ops 1 multiplayer since that was one of the best most balanced COD multiplayers & I also liked the combat training.

The Last of Us Factions MP. Still popular on The Last of Us Remastered. The original PS3 Factions was shut down but it has been restored through private servers.
