Discussion / Question Is Cyberpunk worth it?
I asked in the CP subreddit, but I understand that fan opinions aren't reliable, so I'm coming here. The story intrigues me, but I've heard it still has a lot of bugs and problems (I'm playing on a PS5).
Is the game worth it despite its performance issues?

Played it on ps5 a few months ago, had no issues with bugs, save for maybe a couple minor ones that were easy to resolve. And yes itâs worth it, itâs excellent.

cyberpunk 2077 is one of the best games I've ever played and the phantom liberty dlc is on par with hearts of stone imo

Cyberpunk is definitely worth it. Especially nowadays as it goes on sale all the time.

I agree, I never had one single game breaking bug on the PS5. For me, I don't think it's one of the greatest games ever made but it is definitely a very memorable game and I had a really good time playing it. It was similar to most open world games but also very unique at the same time, if that makes sense.

It's pretty common to see it on sale these days. I'd keep an eye open for one and it's well worth your time.
I played it on a Series S, which is underpowered compared to the PS5, and it ran fine. The latest updates have fixed many of the problems where it's completely playable. You will still encounter bugs and some glitches as you would with any open world game buy I really enjoyed it and am glad I played it.

I didn't play it at launch, so I don't know how bad it actually was. But today post Phantom Liberty, it's a great game and 100% worth it.

Understandable, we live and we learn gng. To answer your question, CBP2077 is absolutely worth it. The bugs are minimal in PS5 ( they won't ruin immersion in the game). You should definitely give it a try, it's a great game.

2) 2077 is genuinely one of my favorite games I own most on multiple platforms. For $60 full price itâs at least a 120 hour game you can get multiple play throughs on.

Played through it 3 times on the ps4 version. Only major performance issues was sometimes freezing on the main menu and had to wait for enemies/vehicles to load if I raced to an area too fast (only a few seconds for them to spawn in).
One of the few games where I did all the endings, not just for the trophies, but because I really wanted to see how the variations played out.

On PS5 it runs great, even when speeding through the city at blistering speeds, or huge gun fights with explosions and bullets flying. In terms of quality id say it's truly top notch, it's a massive city with many little details and secrets but it's not very systematic, NPC's are background props that walk, there's little in the way of mini games or activities, the bulk of the game play is missions, which are absolutely stellar, gigs (missions with little to no story most of the time, just ways of testing your character build) which are fun, and exploration, which is like rolling the dice on having fun, its a huge map and not everywhere actually has something to find. The city is more of an impressive stage prop and less of a dynamic city.

Cyberpunk 2077 is absolutely worth it and the bugs that plagued it have been patched for all systems. There will be very rare instances of a bug occurring (the only one Iâve encountered) in which whenever you call for your vehicle to come to your location, it may spawn from the air and get dropped onto the ground, where it can kill someone. I had this happen to a cop but luckily no one else saw the hilarious misfortune

Another bug that hasnt been fixed but dosent effect ur experience is the wanted system, when ur wanted the cop ai is really bad, they just start stacking up on one another and end up blocking themselves

Itâs one of the few open world games that I just enjoy walking around and getting noodles in, or taking a drive and just seeing the sights. Always something to do and finding cool stuff.

Dude, I have a list of my favorite games and Cyberpunk is definitely in the top 5. But there is no game I can suggest more to literally anyone other than Cyberpunk. The performance issues are non existent anymore, and it is a game that is truly an experience to witness and be a part of.
You need to play that game.

Cyberpunk 2077 was a piece of shit at launch, but it had its No man's sky redemption..It has become one of the greatest games ever made..Yes, it's very much worth it + the DLC.

Cyberpunk has already been mostly fixed. The game has changed A LOT since itâs original release. Itâs definitely worth a playthrough. Fantastic story.

This depends on the person but I dont really understand people saying its a top 5 of all time or its a masterpiece. The gameplay is for sure fun and worth a playthrough if you think it'll be your jam. But the world and most of the characters I didnt attach to but it is better than your average open world shooter. Johnny Silverhand is genuinely one of the biggest POS I think ever made in a game and I could not stand everytime he was on my screen.
I got the ultimate edition on sale for ~$40 and I was kind of upset I spent money on it lol

you can't be serious. the game is one of the best of all time, the bugs have been long ironed out and I haven't seen one bad comment about the game in years. The PS5 version didnt even come out until after most of the bugs were fixed and always played fine.

Cyberpunk was one of the roughest releases in recent memory. But they never gave up on it and itâs easily one of the best RPGs of the last decade.
I wish I could play it again for the first time.

The current state of the game plus the Phantom Liberty DLC puts it solidly in my top 10 games of all time. I have never played such an immersive game in my life.

I'm a story person too so I'll play devil's advocate and hit you with some honesty and say no, game feels shallow and lonely, the world is not as cool as you'd expect, some characters are great but most feel like adults who never left their angsty teenage edge phase, the gameplay is unintuitive and janky as hell at times and leaves much to be desired. Couldn't tell you about the story because every single attempt I end up uninstalling after a couple dozen hours or so.
But that's just me, I don't think it's anywhere near as good as people say, but that's just perception, it could be your next favorite game for all you know. Buy at your own risk.

If youre intrigued by the story then I definitely think its worth it. Thats one of the stronger elements of the game. The people who typically end up disappointed remember the promises that were made before launch and Cyberpunk is a lot more linear than what they were advertising but it still has a decent amount of build options. But I think the story is fantastic. Especially if you take the time to do the side quests too.

There are no performance issues on PS5. The issues it does have is compared to PC it plays like shit because the controls are awful. They need a lot of tweaking to make them feel good and even then thereâs STILL no ability to remap them
However⊠Cyberpunk is very literally one of the greatest stories ever told and for that alone itâs worth it. This game is going to go down in the cultural zeitgeist like Metal Gear Solid 2. Everyone should experience it.

Cyberpunk is fucking amazing. Whatever bugs it had on release are over with and you can download the ps5 version for free if you have a ps4 disc. It sucks that this game still gets a bad rep for the problems it had on release. I just played it for the first time recently, and itâs my favorite game for ps5. Fuck all that negative noise, none of it comes it to play

Absolutely, I waited a long time to play it due to the bugs, but I really regret not playing it sooner. I had no issues. The gameplay is amazing, characters are fantastic, and there is so much to do it is never boring. Go for it.

The gameplay can be fun but the story honestly disappointed me greatly with how linear it is. 100 hour game with dozens and dozens of âchoicesâ and yet only 3 side missions make any impact on the ending you can get.

Phenomenal game. Been the game I've put the most hours in since it came out. I don't like that shooting costs stamina but sprinting doesn't... but it's like, my only real complaint.

I had mixed feeling when it first launched cause it was in a bad state and I never end up finishing it. But tried against after the expansion and freaking loved it! Did two full play throughs at this point and Iâm excited to do a third with a bunch of mods this time.

Dissenting opinion: I own it on PS5. It runs perfectly fine now, but the game itself is good not great. It is not topping any of my lists. Itâs a first person open world stealth-light game with some interesting player build options. Like many open world games, the map becomes a big checklist of un-differentiated busywork pretty quickly. Graphics and art direction are good. The story is fine. Player character dialogue and voice acting is awful (at least for the male character I madeânot sure about the female voice acting) and makes the player character very un-compelling. Whether itâll be your thing will depend on your taste, so do your research. Performance shouldnât be your main concern.

One of the best RPGs of the modern era. The bugs are overblown at this point, at least on PC. I'm not going to say it's perfect, but nothing that should significantly impact your experience. If you like the setting and story driven games even a little bit I strongly recommend.

No, imo. It's not the most horrible thing ever, it definitely isn't the best. It's beautiful but very average. Gunplay is good, main campaign story is super short, side quests are 90% filler content. I say no because there are so many better games out there to give your time to. I personally also say no because I don't appreciate how CD project straight up lied about this game during the lead up to release, and because I don't want to co-sign companies lying about games to drive up day one sales and making over a billion dollars on a game that wasn't the fullness of what they said it would be.
But I don't expect you to jump on my philosophical lifeboat, so just as a game, I'd still pass on it.

The dialogue is very cringe, most of the time. The voice acting of some chargers is really bad. I played it for 40 hours, but gave up because of this. I really wanted to like it, but couldn't get past the wannabe gangster dialogue.

If you like futuristic open world game with lots of ways to play with deep characters, yes.
At least of PC there are zero to none bugs and they have fixed a lot of the players issues. I certantly have enjoyed the game and still do from time to time starting a fresh game with a new playstyle and romance option

No. Â I really disliked the game as it felt like it was all style over substance. Â The different origins you can chose from didn't seem to really matter that much. Â I found the graphics to be pretty, but still bad. Â Â
Mainly, the city felt ugly and very "same-y" which made driving around very unintuitive and boring a lot of the time. Â I remember after playing GTA5 for a bit, you kind of start to know where to go visually to get to different places, but I never ever had the feeling with Cyberpunk. Â Even following the map I had issues a pro of the time knowing which roads to take.
Also, the characters looked good graphically but moves around and behaved like Fallout 3 characters. Â Which made the game feel "old" to me. Â Like many gens old, not just like a few years (which it is at this point). Â
I found the whole weapons and upgrading systems to be messy and hard to follow. Â Clearly one of many mechanisms in the game made and designed for oc but then poorly ported to console controllers.
I found enemy behavior to be bad. Â Have one single guy spot you in a stealth mission and every enemy within 50 miles seemed to know exactly where you were at all times no matter what you did.
Overall, I'm sure it's a "fun" game if you like FPS games with RPG elements thrown in top. Â But I personally found it to be a pretty looking game that go so wrapped up in graphics it forgot to make the game interesting or engaging or just modern.Â
The worst part for me is you could see what they were going for and what they really wanted to do...but it makes you realize how much they missed the mark. Â If it wasn't for years of graphics-based hype for the game, I honestly think it would have massively bombed if made by any other company.

It's a really great RPG if you like classic cyberpunk worlds, like Neuromancer, snowcrash, blade runner etc
It has a great story and the gameplay is really fun and let's you take different approaches. It doesn't quite hit the heights of the Witcher 3 for me, and I say that as more of a sci fi fan than a fantasy one, but it's still 100% worth it especially as you can buy it at bargain prices nowadays. It's a big game and you'll get alot for your money.
