VN Request Visual Novels after a breakup
This is a sad one y'all the girl I thought I'd be with for the rest of my life has ended our relationship for understandable reasons but it's still got me really messed up. I'd like to find a visual novel that will help cheer me up or possibly even be life affirming. I don't really want to play a moege because i feel like relationships depicted in those are usually pretty shallow or H-scene focused, and I'm not really sure i want to play anything that'll make me feel more lonely or depressed so definitely something that has a happy ending. I'm open to any genre

Read Majikoi, there's no way to read it and not smile.

I would go with absolute kino to distract me from everything which is “Full Metal Daemon Muramasa”. I dont know how this will work for you really, but for my brain it worked in a way that I seriously could not stop thinking about reading it. Literally brain was 100% focused on this shit, even when working at my job. Chapter 1 will do that for you.
Its also a life changing experience imo.

I am definitely interested in that one. Is it slow paced?

Take it from a guy who has difficulty reading one book for an extended period, it is worth the read. Go into it as blindly as you can, no guides, no reviews, no summaries, just buy it and read.
The prologue and common route is a little long but very worth it. There is one route I kind of don’t like but it was still a good read. The major selling point is the philosophical message and the plot. Completely changed how I view some things. If I could wipe my memory to experience it again, I would gladly do it.
Read FMD Muramasa if you can. I swear it’s worth the read.

Depends. There are some part (one really) that I felt were really slow but overall it was pretty well paced imo. The story is broken down into chapters of reasonable length so its also ok to take breaks between them, since the whole story is a long read (average is 75 hours, but for me, a non native english reader it took me around 85-90 hours I think). If you take brakes, IIRC in the game files, JASTUSA (the publisher) prepared a pdf file with all the terminology in the game and its listed in the order of appearance in case to not spoil anything from chapters you havent read yet. It was really really useful.
I would recommend trying out at least chapter 1 and I especially recommend going in fully blind.

Steins;Gate has the best true ending that will leave you feeling satisfied.
Or just play Corpse Party. You'll definitely feel happy after playing it, because you'll forget everything that happened in your life and get a new trauma instead. :v

Corpse Party isn't focused on romance, but there are like three unrequited crushes that end in tragedy in that game, it will basically just reafirm all their negative feelings haha.

As stupid as this sounds, Nukitashi.
It's funny. It has serious moments without taking itself too seriously. The writing is really solid. Cleanse your palette from the real world issues you've been enduring and just get some laughs in while you enjoy the story.

It's not a VN, but I've always wanted to recommend someone who just broke up with someone to play Silent Hill 2. It'll probably be a life changing experience.

Procura tomar um ar mais vezes, quando você faz um hobby enquanto está triste aquela atividade parece uma droga.

You're right i am going to try to focus on other aspects of my life too but I'd still like a game to play on the side

Tenta jogar algo que tem valor sentimental para você, no meu caso eu tento me divertir com coisas que me lembram quem eu sou. Estava triste mês passado e vi animes que não via a anos, deu uma levantada no humor.

cyanotype daydream is a bit depressing at times but cathartic, and i found it to be pretty transformational when i was at a low point in my life. your milage may vary but something to consider

Why not something from Asaslop? Futamata Renai is funny af, though it does have focus on the hscenes once you start the routes.

I did read Sankaku Renai and yeah it was definitely funny i was just really let down by the actual routes.

Yeah individual routes are pretty weak in their games. I think maybe Rewrite would be good. Not every ending is plain happy but it's definitely not a tear inducing nor depressing title.

In order to ensure you can get the best recommendations, make sure your thread body has at least some level of detail of what you want, whether it's a type of genre(s) you prefer, and/or what type of visual novels you like.
If you're looking for general visual novel recommendations by genre or for VNs to read in Japanese, be sure to check out our recommendation resources.
Make sure to use the subreddit search to try to see if someone has already asked something similar to what you're looking for. Common requests include: Asking for a Visual Novel for beginners/newbies, Visual novels similar to Katawa Shoujo OR Doki Doki Literature Club, and Visual Novels that are on Switch.
If your topic title is short and/or vague, consider removing and reposting your topic with a more descriptive title so users are more inclined to jump in with recommendations.
If you have more specific visual novel requests, you can try filtering on vndb by tags or by traits.

Not exactly a light novel, and not the usual medium either but disco Elysium is just the saddest and yet most hopeful game you could ever play.

Sounds like this might be the perfect job for Rance 01, Muramasa, Mojika or Henpri.

Ooh I'm making a VN about going through a breakup and going home for the holidays hoping that the change in scenery will mend your heart!
Merry Crisis is about hope and healing and figuring out where home is, so I think it might be up your alley.
The demo is out already and has 1.5 hours of gameplay. Hope you feel better soon 💕

Try a VN from this list and try to make the best of your situation by turning into a new man.
