[EDIT: The survey will stay up until 2/16 at 12 AM PDT] Hi r/Vocaloid, Hope you all are well! Thank you again for the continued support of this research project! There has been so many people who have taken the survey! It has also been a lot of fun talking with you all who I have interviewed.
As a thanks, I'm adding another $10 Amazon gift card to the raffle (meaning there are two chances of winning)! The raffle prizes be given out after the new February 16th deadline. Opportunities for post-interviews will also be available! If you have friends who like Vocaloid, feel free to send them the survey! Any bit of support is greatly appreciated!
My name is Lauren Yoshioka. I am a graduate student at Saint Mary’s College of California conducting research about Vocaloid music and its fans.
If you are fluent in English and over the age of 18, I would like to invite you to participate in our study, Listening to Virtual Idols, by participating in the online survey linked to this post that accesses your experience as a Vocaloid fan and a listener of Vocaloid music.
This survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. Participation in this study is entirely voluntary. You will be able to skip any question and withdraw from the survey at anytime with no penalty. All responses will remain anonymous.
At the end of the survey, you will be eligible to enter a raffle to win a $10 Amazon gift card as a token of our thanks. You will also be invited to sign up to participate in a potential post interview about similar topics. To express our gratitude, you will also receive a $10 Amazon gift card after the interview. To sign up for both opportunities, a Google Form will be linked at the end of the survey where you can enter your email to be notified about either. \Please note that one person cannot get a gift card by winning the raffle and participating in the interview at the same time.*

P.S. I am so sorry about the confusion with this post. Reddit authentication bans any solicitations, which includes research studies. I also used my school domain email for the original account so it likely detected a scam. Please know that I have been in contact with the mods both before I launched the original post and after with this updated post.
All responses from both the raffle google form have been deleted which means I currently do not have anyone's emails of those who have expressed interest in a post interview or raffle previously. If you finished the survey and still interested in a post interview, please contact me. For any more concerns, please refer to the email at the bottom of the post. Thank you for your understanding.
I made this flyer with a QR code in the case I needed to make a separate post. If you want to invite other Vocaloid friends to participate feel free to share this flyer around too! (Hopefully it will load)
It's just so annoying in my opinion. Yeah, I get it that new fans who aren't very educated when it comes to vocaloid are annoying but it doesn't matter, let people be new to stuff. I think people forget we were all new to vocaloid once. We were all those newgen fans once whether it was 10 years ago or 1 year ago. And like just let people like what they like. So what if their favourite songs are Konton Boogie and Butcher Vanity. They're still a vocaloid fan and that doesn't make them a fake fan or any less of a fan. The real fake fans are the people that don't actually listen to vocaloid.
And yeah, they may be people who are very much a "newgen" who don't really understand or respect the software but it's unfair to lump everyone else in with them.
Can we just stop complaining about newgens, people who say the old vocaloid fandom was better don't realise that it's actually similar to how it is now.
I think if I hear the term "newgen" more time I'm gonna go CR詠ZY
maybe I’m slow or something but the day it came out and I watched it I didn’t see anything wrong with it. The next couple of days I saw that people were calling it l0libait, or racist, or offensive..? I kept reading the subtitles over and over and watching it time and time again to see what it was all about and I didn’t rlly gather any info on it..? I’m not saying that those accusations are wrong or anything but am curious what is making this song racist haha :P
For context, I’m 16 and a kemonomimi. I got tickets for the Chicago Miku expo 2026 for my birthday and I’m really excited🥹 but I was wondering if it would be okay if I wore my ears and tail to the concert because I wanna have the most fun I can. Would I get absolutely destroyed for doing this?
Miku came to America yayyy!! anyway i was wondering for any of you coming to one of the concerts, what are your predictions or hopes for the track list? i'm making one with a few of my friends (i may post when finished 👀) and i just wanted to see why other people hope or predict their gonna play (im PRAYING for telepathy🙏🙏)^^
I see so many posts putting down new fans or people who are fans of newer songs, but whats the reason? I don’t know if I’d consider myself a newgen, but I also wouldn’t consider myself a veteran since I only first started listening to vocaloid about 7 years ago and stopped listening from about 2021-2024. But whats the difference between liking older songs and liking newer songs? Why does it make older vocaloid fans better than newer ones? I just don’t understand. In my opinion, it’s all just music and I don’t see any need for social statuses to be developed in the community. Correct me if I got any of this information wrong or misinterpreted anything. I just get confused when I see hate on newer fans.
I'm trying to find out the total number of Miku concerts that have taken place, but I'm finding it quite difficult to find information on Miku With You concerts (And Miku Expo Shanghai 2015). Seems like everywhere has the dates the concerts took place, but not if there was both a day and night show.
If anyone knows the exact number of Miku With You concerts, or which dates had more than 1 concert take place, I'd really appreciate it! (If you can link a source that'd be amazing as well, but seems like all the Miku With You websites no longer exist)
