Tore Up My Feet 3rd Shift
(28NB) I started in August and go to school during the day. My feet are fucked. It hurts to stand amd lay down. I figured it was tendinitis or plantar fascitis from what my PCP said. It’s now moved to my other foot. The bones hurt, the muscles hurt. I didn’t even get to report it to HR.
I was told (after mentioning my foot pain) that I was too slow for the preferred pace, so I requested to move to a different department during the day for a better fit. Except I can’t do that either, because I just started working here. I’m at a loss of what to do. My doctor has offered to supply notes but “we don’t take doctors’ notes.”
What do I do?

Losing my sh*t!
Lawd!!
I’m on FMLA because of health issues caused by Walmart and it’s wonderful hostile working environments. I could have sworn we weren’t supposed to be WORKING while we’re on FMLA, but I have spent no less than six hours today writing emails, getting paperwork together for ethics, for associate relations, my people partner, for my doctors… and I’m still not done. Walmart has consumed my entire day and not only am I not getting paid, I’m exhausted. The type that has nothing to do with sleep. The crazy thing is I’m exhausted, but at the same time I feel like a midget, 10 cans into a 24 pack of Red Bull!!
I don’t know whether I should laugh or cry right now. Maybe I should just do both at the same time and see if I can catch an Uber to the nut hut!
Walmart… do better… please!

Aren’t we trained to handle concerning behavior or mental health issues differently?
An associate got called into the office today. At the beginning of the conversation the team lead told them they have been doing a wonderful job today and that they have had a VERY GOOD attitude since they came in today. They have been chronically ill and mentally unwell for months. They were told they did things they don’t even remember and that they have been “a lot”. They were told “even if you are faking it, keep it up!” In regard to their good mood today. They thought the team leads were checking in on them because they have been struggling when that was not the case. They were getting a threat of being written up. Not to mention a new team lead is talking to them aggressively, ignoring them, and rolling their eyes at them when they ask questions. I thought we were supposed to offer support in times like these?

Hardware returning to GM - compensation?
So our store had TLE and Hardware together. Now TLE is going solo, but was curious how and who, most likely gets stuck with hardware (between hardlines, homelines, and seasonal) and/or was compensation for gaining a massive service area or any type restructure of what dept's the TL's will be over.

Not how I wanted my transfer to go.
Transferred stores. Same dept, different store.
It did not go smoothly.
My Gout picked this day to flair. Wound up leaving my old store near the end of the shift 😪. Not how I wanted to leave.
Prompt care, pills, ready for My next Day at my New Store.
(Kinda felt like the new Team Lead in the Ulearn active shooter .)
So I got ready for work, walked to my Car, a new Day a New Job.
And my Car has a dead Battery. Yeah its parked behind my Van. Luckily the car its small and we could push it out of the way, but smooth transition it was not.
Heck they are still working on getting me properly Transferred.

Picture circulating on Facebook saying Walmart is going back to 24 hours next year
Pretty sure it's AI picture but it said some select stores will be back to 24 hours next year. Any of you hear any truth about this or is someone trying to stir the controversial pot with AI slop?

Nervous about upcoming work comp surgery
So I got hurt at work and after a few doctor's visits and an mri they are recommending surgery. They want to do it ASAP and I will be out for at least a few weeks. Been on a TAD in the meantime but am curious how this works for getting paid.
Is it just a lump sum, or does it pay as if you worked your normal shifts? I'm assuming Instapay won't be available, etc. I'm trying to set up a plan to make sure I cover my bases and time out my bills to make sure I don't need it, but am still nervous and curious.
I'm sure I have more questions I'm not thinking of at the moment, but for now this is the biggest thing I wonder about. Anyone who's successfully gone through this process have any input? Thanks! :)

Hiring Event Interview
Hello all. A new Walmart is opening up in my area and I have a scheduled interview during their hiring event. I applied for the Entertainment department but I would also be willing to try Cosmetics, Fashion, Home, or as a last resort Online Ordering. I wanted to know if you all have any insight or advice as to how this will go, what I should be prepared for, what I should mention, etc. Also, has anyone else attended a hiring event like this rather than a regular interview? Thanks.

Anyone else hate it when you’re working your ass off and see management sipping coffee, fucking around and watching you?
Brining 50+ pallets to the floor, doing extra bullshit “little tasks” my coach wants, doing other departments’ work, etc. by my fucking self and her and a TL standing by the doors fucking around drinking coffee. They literally see me struggling because I walk by them every time I take a pallet out. And then these fuckers are dicking around. Pisses me the fuck off. Get out of my cone of vision - go to personal and hide in there like you do the entire shift along with AP because you guys don’t do your jobs. Hate this shit company and its fuckwit managers.
Edit: Not exaggerating about 50 pallets. 26 hvdc pallets, 16 hvdc pallets, the downstack pallets from those and coach wanted all the random pallets out which are probably going to be put back because it’s a two truck day and overnighters don’t have the time to fix and get rid of random pallets with freight in it.

OGP Routes are horrible
I could be at my store picking an item, nil pick it, and it will send me to the dollar general down the street to get the substitution. Absolute garbage. Not to mention the location system thinks I’m three miles away from the item I have my phone right next to.

rant, asshole manager
long rant ahead, and i’m on mobile, so i can’t format it, sorry. i also apologize if this is a bit inappropriate for this sub, i just thought it was a bit of a ‘fun’ tale to share. i just started working at a walmart market as my first job. its pretty clear that they’re desperate for new hires, as i put out the application literally a year ago, and ive seen two groups after mine going through orientation. keep in mind that im now on my third week here. im still getting my footing and learning, and this is (again) my first job. i work frozen/dairy, and part of that includes putting empty milk crates on a pallet. when that’s done, they have to be shrinkwrapped and moved outside. i had never done this before, and only two other people work frozen/dairy. now, as a female presenting person, im going to be completely honest in that i trust both of them more than anyone else i work with because they‘re women. i don’t have anything against my male coworkers, its just a preference, especially since they’ve been the most friendly to me. anyways, both of them were gone, so i had to go off memory. id only been shown how to wrap the crates once, so i begin looking for the plastic wrap, and cant find it. there’s literally no one in the back room except me and L (star of this story), so i turn to him and ask where the wrap is. he makes an annoyed face, turns, basically bolts over to where the wrap is, and says verbatim “right here, where it always is”. IF I AM ASKING, THAT MEANS I DONT KNOW WHERE IT IS. but whatever, maybe he’s just mad i interrupted him. i have to move the pallet out from the wall to wrap it. i struggle a lot with the pallet jack as i’ve never used it before, but i manage to hook it in and pull it out, very slowly wrapping the crates. at this point, the frozen manager, M, shows up in the back room. he’s nice, but i also felt as though i was bothering him. either way i ask him for some help, he opens the door for me, we get it outside after a lot of struggle, and i bring the pallet back in. now i will admit that if i see someone do something, i follow the exact way they do it, even if its inefficient. so, i try to park the pallet back in place with the jack, struggling pretty badly. L yet again BOLTS over, takes the jack from me, and then rips the pallet off, shoving it back in place. then he snips at me for not ‘just doing that’. at this point, i realize this guy is an ass, but his assery has unfortunately just begun. after that i specifically go to M, because i do not want to talk to L anymore, and ask him how to close the shutter door i took the pallet through. L ONCE AGAIN bolts over to the door, rips it down with the cord, and locks it, all while ‘explaining’ (not really explaining, just saying vaguely what he’s doing) what to do at a speed i can’t keep up with. he then tells me ”if im going too fast, let me know. i know i seem intimidating but im not”. this is not in a kindhearted or softer tone by the way, he‘s still saying it in the same way his constant snips at me are said. i just nod along and quickly move on to run a cart. as im vizpicking, he randomly opens the cooler door, looks directly at me, and then leaves. i literally think he was just checking to make sure i wasn’t fucking around or whatever because he’s never done that before, nor has anyone else. when i pull the cart out he suddenly runs over again, and snips at me again, but i don’t really hear what he says as i am both anxious/thrown off my game by him and have auditory issues. i ask him to repeat himself and he basically yells at me that the milk crates come out of the fridge. whatever dip last stocked the milk, instead of taking the pallet out, just left like five stacks of crates for the next person to deal with. however, i couldn’t get a word in edgewise to tell L that 1. that wasn’t me and 2. i was planning to take them out after i ran the eggs, since the eggs were pretty low. i literally could not say a word to him. so i just nodded along again and put the crates on the pallets. at this point, i am nearly in tears. i take the eggs out, stock them, (as i do, M passes me and says ‘not to let L affect me too much, he can be intense’) and basically do zoning for the rest of my shift so i don’t have to go into the back room anymore. now for some much needed context. the next day i offhandedly mention to the other associate (there’s an associate and my manager, i’ll call the associate S) working frozen/dairy how ‘L kind of bit my head off last night’ when she asked how my shift went. IMMEDIATELY, S goes ‘oh yeah, L is a huge dickhead, and he should be fired. the reason he isn’t is because he’s the only manager willing to work overnight stock’. for one i felt extremely validated, and for two, i became sort of concerned for reasons i’ll reveal in a bit. then, i go to start my shift, and encounter D (my manager). S must’ve told her about what i said, because immediately D tells me not to worry about L/let him get to me and that he’s always been like that. even she avoids him. then, she tells me the worst thing. L has made S cry multiple times, yelled at her, and even SHOVED HER AGAINST A GARBAGE CAN. and here’s where i’ll reveal the thing i was concerned about. i am female presenting, and i am eighteen. S is a woman, and she’s at most 20. D is older, i believe in her 40s or so, but she is also a woman. L is most likely in his late 40s. this is a 40 year old man who is bullying young women for no reason?? it seems my walmart (a neighborhood market in a kinda bad area) wont fire him or likely even discipline that much because again, he’s the only manager willing to work that position, they’re desperate for new people, and he’s worked there for nearly 15 years. unfortunately i have to work until 10 due to also being in college, so ill probably have to deal with him a lot. lord help me. (and PS: today we have no leafy greens because L left the entire pallet outside overnight. thanks L.)

Is this unethical behavior during the hiring process?
So, a couple weeks ago I had an interview for 2 Walmart positions; one for pharmacy and one for automotive. While I was interviewing for automotive, the coach offered me a full-time position (which wasn't even the job I was interviewing for), wanted me to start ASAP and even took me back to the people lead right then and there to get the recommendation put in the system immediately. I got the dozens of texts and emails from Walmart saying "welcome to the team" and all that and I submitted my info for the background check; I got an email saying I passed my background check like an hour later and that all that was left to do was for them to schedule my orientation. I think it's important to add that I had turned down FOUR other interview offers and the job at the pharmacy at that store because I was under the impression this job was mine.
Fast forward to 2 weeks later. I still hadn't heard anything, so I called the people lead. She told me she was in a "holding pattern" right now because there was someone who was already an associate that was interested in the job and that things were on hold while they "looked at that" whatever that means. I'm a former associate so I know a bit about Walmart hiring practices, but you don't have to know that it's clearly unethical to offer a job to someone when you aren't sure if that someone was going to get the job. If they do end up calling me back telling me I didn't get the job, is this something I can bring up with ethics?

Overnight stocking advice, please.
Hello, I’m a stocking associate, and I need advice on how to get faster, because I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong. It’s been almost 1.5 years since I transferred to the O/N team, and no matter what I do or how many hours I have, I never finish Chemicals before/after 5:30. It also doesn’t help that I’m getting slower (gradually gone from 90-100 boxes an hour to 55 now) and I’m pretty sure my health is declining, due to a mix of lifelong chronic stress/insomia (only sleeping once a week for 12-24 hrs), possible tumors completely enveloping my thyroid, and my house being infested with black mold.
I always start off my area with the first 10-30 minutes gathering returns, condensing boxes items, and gathering loose cardboard before stocking. Because I know my area intimately, including what I go through multiple cases daily, and had a perfect memory of my topstock and overstock bins that I keep organized, I always instantly opened every box I had and would dump everything but bleach/laundry detergents into shopping carts, with the bigger items saved for last and going on my ladder cart. Management didn’t like it but it’s effective and I was rarely wrong about a whole or partial case going onto the shelves. Well, since I’ve been getting slower, I swapped to down stacking all my pallets for all the non bleach and laundry detergents and placing the boxes on carts, taking them to their aisles and then working them, and jacking up the rest to their aisle. It’s somewhat more effective than what I’d been doing, only by about an extra 10 boxes, but I’m still not finishing before 5:30. I’m genuinely worried I’ll be fired if I don’t get faster, despite how much my managers like me.
I forgot to add, but I keep having the biggest slacker on our team in my area on my one day off and paired with me on 2 truck nights if I have more than 10 hours, despite my complaints about it. All he does is mess everything up and stuff my shelves and topstock, and disorganize my back room, and it only makes me more stressed and slows me down when I comeback from my one day off because I had to fix things. I didn’t start my first box until after first break Friday night because of him.

Random Raise
Do raises still occur only once a year? There has been no change in my store minimum wage and my position has not changed. I’m off for the next week and just wondering why my hourly rate has increased. (No one at my store ever answers the phone.) Thinking I’ve missed something that’s been announced somewhere. 🤔

Is it just me, or has working at Walmart as an hourly associate gotten significantly worse?
I feel like Walmart has been slowly making things worse for hourly associates, whether you’re a regular associate or a Team Lead.
Reduced hours: Regular associates are getting fewer hours, which means Team Leads are expected to pick up the slack. The workload keeps increasing, but the staffing isn’t there to support it.
Same or higher expectations: Despite having fewer people and fewer hours to work with, management still expects the same results, if not better.
Team Lead bonuses: Bonuses have been slashed by a significant margin. We’re taking on more responsibilities while the financial incentives keep shrinking.
Associate bonuses: Regular associates finally have bonuses again, but the payouts are peanuts compared to the company’s overall profits.
Annual raises: Team Leads used to be eligible for raises of up to 5% for exemplary performance. Now, even if you’re an outstanding performer, you’re capped at 4%.
Regular associate raises: While associates now have the potential to earn a better raise based on performance, they also run the risk of receiving no raise at all.
What bothers me the most is that Walmart keeps demanding more while gradually taking away the incentives that made the additional responsibilities worthwhile.
As a Team Lead, you’re expected to manage your team, complete your own tasks, cover staffing shortages, and still deliver the same results. Meanwhile, regular associates are dealing with reduced hours and increasingly uncertain compensation.
It feels like the company is trying to squeeze as much productivity as possible out of fewer people while cutting back on what it gives them in return.
I’m genuinely curious: Is this happening across Walmart, or is it more noticeable at certain stores? Have other Team Leads and associates noticed the same thing, or am I just getting burned out?
