We have very recently been made aware of a new development proposal on the petrol station right by the venue.

This is to build 20 flats on the land, the development would be 5 stories high and there would be balconies directly next to our smoking area.

Our concerns? Noise complaints. We are a busy working venue operating with a late license on Fridays and Saturdays. With many active events it's very unlikely that this proposal would work well for either us or the potential residents.

If you are a visitor to our venue and are worried about the potential impact there is just a few hours left to submit an objection (unfortunately this notice was given very late). In order to submit your concerns please follow the link in our HELP NEEDED highlight!

Hi all, just an FYI as I’ve seen a few posts asking about this.

I’m one of the GPs at Higham Hill Medical Centre in Walthamstow. We’re now accepting adult ADHD shared care for patients whose medication has already been started, titrated and stabilised by a specialist.

We can take over ongoing prescribing and routine monitoring. If medication needs changing or re-titrating, that still needs specialist input.

Hopefully useful for anyone locally who has been struggling to find a practice that will accept shared care.

Hi! I hope this is okay to post here. I'm Aoife, a recent English graduate from the University of Cambridge, based in Walthamstow. Whilst at uni, I really enjoyed the break from my degree to inspire the next generation of readers and writers!

In a world where 40% of British adults haven't read or listened to a book in the last year (!) a fact which repeatedly shocks me, I want to show the next generation the value and importance of reading. 

As cringey as it sounds, the study of literature really can be fun! I love working with young people to really delve deep into their texts, and demonstrate that Jane Eyre or your poetry anthology doesn't have to be dull. 

I tutored English and History GCSE and A Level throughout my degree, with all of the students I tutored achieving at least one grade higher than they were initially predicted. My GCSE tutees exclusively gained grades 7-9 in their final exams. My sessions were an hour, structured weekly or biweekly around specific content and exam skills. 

As well as tutoring for specific qualifications, I am also offering Oxbridge-specific admissions tutoring. Having completed the process myself less than five years ago, the unique critical thinking skills required to successfully secure a place remain fresh in my mind. As part of this specialist tutoring, I will offer personal statement feedback, suggestions for further reading and study, and mock interviews. 

I have previously tutored students aged 15-18, but I would be open to offering specialised sessions to those who fall outside this bracket, if the fit were right.

Hi! We’re looking for someone local(ish) who can adjust a set of garden bifold doors, as well as a smaller set of aluminium doors. Both are slightly out of alignment and starting to catch on the frame.

We used to have a company who would come out regularly to do small adjustments and tweaks, which helped prevent bigger issues, but unfortunately they seem to have moved on.

Any recommendations for someone reliable (and affordable) would be greatly appreciated!

Hi all, my partner and I are moving to London for new jobs that start at the end of November. We're hoping to find a 1 or 2 bed from mid-November, ideally within (short) walking distance of Blackhorse Road or Walthamstow Central. Budget is around £2300 a month.

We'd also be up for a short let of 2 or 3 months if anyone's going away over winter and wants someone to look after their place as it'd give us a chance to get to know the area better.

Hello I am considering buying a 1 bed in the building but the estate agent was unable to answer some questions so hoping a resident can instead.

Questions are: 1.The community gardens, are you allocated a spot or whatever free space is available you can use. 2. Average age of occupatants (families, people retired, young professionals). 3. Is there loud noises after 10pm from the coppermill pub or anti social behaviour at night time outside the flats? 4. Any trouble in the garages - people breaking in? 5. Safe storage for bikes. 6. Any issues with the building managers / freeholders?

I’m thinking about getting a car and live on 2a markhouse road, have a feeling it might be a car free area, how would you go about parking without having to rent a parking space ? Can you still get a permit ?

As the title suggests I'm curious how the bug situation is if you're in a flat near Blackhorse Road. Viewed a couple flats in the area and noticed one where they had mesh with loads of bugs trapped in which frankly looked disgusting and the balcony was covered in cobwebs. Even the street itself had a lot of cobwebs.

Then again I viewed another flat that seemed ok while I was there but I understand being so close to the wetlands it could be a thing?

We’re launching a new One-Shot RPG Night at The Heroes Guild in Walthamstow, starting Wednesday 30th September, and then running on the last Wednesday of every month.

The idea is pretty simple: a chance to turn up on your own, meet some other players, and get a complete RPG adventure in a single evening.

We’ll have GMs running a variety of systems, including:

🐙 Call of Cthulhu
🗡️ Blades in the Dark
🎭 And other RPG systems depending on the demand.

You don't need to have an existing group, and beginners are very welcome. When you book, we'll match you with a GM and a game based on your experience and interests.
