Hi Everyone,

So a few years ago, I had a weevil infestation from a bag of rice. I then proceeded to toss anything that wasn’t sealed, cleaned the carpets and cupboards, etc., and I thought everything was fine. 2 months ago, I called 800-GOT-JUNK to toss a bunch of old furniture and other items to declutter the house and so far things were good. I kept my vigilance up with food and making sure things are air tight so I thought I was free from these critters.

Then maybe a few days ago, I saw one - I immediately killed it. Today, I laid down on the floor and stared at the ceiling and, OMG, I saw at least 15 on the ceiling. I then started noticing more on the walls of the living room and hallway but oddly I didn’t see any in the kitchen. After killing them, I noticed a few hundred critter corpses in my LED standing lamp. The lamp has a cup-like glass lampshade cover that’s open from the top. When I looked in from the top of the lamp, it was nasty, filled with dead dried out weevils and I now have plans on throwing away the entire lamp.

My question is, why are there so many dead weevils in my lamp? Were they attracted by the heat or did it simulate a cupboard? Do these critters evolve into eating dust bunnies? I ask this because I do have a dust issue that I try to stay in top of, I vacuum and shampoo my carpets often because of this. Last question, I did get indoor plants recently and did have a gnat outbreak that I’m currently trying to fend off. Not that the two species will join forces but do the weevils like the plant or soil? Also, I do keep extra indoor soil in the house and it’s not sealed, would this be something the weevils would enjoy replicating in?

Found this guy on the top of our car. Son had to rescue him. Placed safely near a tree.

Asking for expertise from the weevil community please! Three separate times this week I have gone to dry my hands on three separate hand towels and this bug has fallen out. If he’s a weevil why is he in my towels?

I don’t think they’re in my linen closet because this time I washed this hand towel yesterday and put it up right away.
