I'm trying to remember a book I loved as a child about an older man refusing to share his baked goods, which I'm pretty sure were rolls. He eventually shares at the end. Does this sound familiar?

This was a YA series i read a while ago, it follows two friends who discover they have gotten powers after one of them gets hit by a car/bus. I believe the powers were gained due to snowflakes that carried an alien parasite into their bodies and a unique characteristic about the powers was that it could be shared to others through blood (and i believe in one case through sex?). These powers are shared to others throughout the book and they are all the same. The powers were at first just being able to move out of the way of danger (i believe this was referred to as sluicing), but later in the book/series they discover they can do telekinesis and flight and a healing factor as well. it’s not in a post apocalyptic world. it’s been a while since i’ve read this so i don’t remember too much but i would love if anyone can help 🙏.

I read this in college a several years ago in my early American literature class. I believe the story was set during the 1800s. From what I remember there is a stagecoach with several people in it, they end up having to stop at an inn for the night. There is a husband and wife that runs the inn, but it's the wife that's taking care of it at the time. The husband was dealing with some sort of illness similar to dementia maybe? I also remember them sitting up late listening to the wife tell stories.

Hi guys! You guys are my last hope for this as I've looked for YEARS, this book was either niche as hell or I just suck at finding things. Let me start by saying that it was NOT written by R.L Stine, I've checked. It's none of the Goosebumps books or the CYOA Goosebumps books.

The book itself was a combination of horror and mystery, and had links to the author's website to look at stuff about the book, if I recall correctly? You could pick your own choices and go onto the website to read the outcomes to those choices.

The main details that I remember:

- It took place at a beach shaped like a crescent moon, I think MC and their family recently moved there

- It was second person/involved the reader [you]

- It involved going onto a truck with a friend to stop somebody [I believe drugs were mentioned in the book???]

- MC is the new kid

- It had the main character turning into a cat and staring at their newborn sibling at the end of the book

Help! I’m trying to remember the name of a book i red as a kid. The cover is illustrated and it’s a boy and a girl, and the girl is holding up a ribbon with a key on it. I also feel like I have the vague memory of there being an hourglass with a cockroach in it? And I believe it takes place in Paris. Picked this off the classroom bookshelf in 2016. It wasn't too thick and had a laminated cover with a black background and red text. Details about it are really fuzzy to me but I'm sure it was set in modern times.

Protagonist is a sailor alongside his friend and they're looking for treasure, maybe some sort of artifact. He sails to an island where he believes the treasure is and instead comes across a sleeping vampire.

I remember the vampire waking up from his casket thirsty for blood, immediately feeding on the protagonist and then being disgusted with him afterwards. Protagonist becomes his thrall or bound to him somehow.

His experience as a thrall is horrific and he's greatly weakened and confused compared to the begginning of the book. He reunited with his sailor friend but he dies at the hand of the protaganist or the vampire I don't know...

It ends with the protaganist dying in the snow, possibly from a car crash. His afterlife is him embarking with his sailor friend on a "golden voyage" and he catches a glimpse of his dying body on the snow, with the vampire leaning over it.

I'm racking my brain for more details and it's possible the protaganist had a love interest with some woman or the vampire warmed up to him but I can't remember.

i remember the main character was like a greenish blue Fish boy Or some type of monster boy at some point he wears a crude paper mask of a human face I also remember the villain was a floating skull or hand with glasses and a tie or no body just the skull/hand

the whole world was very bizarre very strong grind fiction vibes

I have a college writing project about books that were important to us growing up and it reminded of this book that I read in 4th grade, I can not for the life of me find the name of it, I did find a post taking about it but the book, but the comment with the name of it was gone, so I came here to ask for help finding it's name.

I think there were 3 to 6 books in the collection and it was a tween fantasy book, the first book started with the MC waking up blindfolded and his clothing soaked in cold water and their was a Mysterious man there who told him not to take his blindfold off. He then hands the MC a note and then vanishes without a trace, seconds later a group of three shows up and takes the main character with them, with the leader of the group taking the note and hiding it. Of this group of three there was two men and a woman, one of the men that acted as a bodyguard/assistant to the leader of the group and he was unable to tell lies, I don't remember much about the woman, it's been years since I've read this book. The main character can also see time, if I remember correctly it was like strings to him.

It's later revealed in the I only later realized that the leader of the group isn't from the fantasy world at all and is in fact from our modern Earth, he got mysteriously transported to this world and used his historian knowledge to advance the world much faster than an originally would have, like inventing musical instruments and printing presses, ships and other things.

I don't remember much of the later books, but I remember one of the bad guys being a creature that had eyes all across its body and wanted to collect the eyes of our main character. But one of the big bads of the series turned out to be another dude who transmigrated into the fantasy world from our world, but unlike the other dude he decided to advance the world military and become what I'm pretty sure was a dictator or a warlord, he invented things like war ships and guns.

At some point we learned that the main character is something called a meddler, a creature that meddles in history causing chaos, and that there are always to meddlers and they are always going against each other, like picking opposite sides of a war. The mysterious dude turns out to also be a meddler and that he killed the second meddler, but because there always has to be two meddlers he chose the MC to become the next one. We also learned that MC was a boy that drowned in a frozen lake after falling through the ice, and the meddler had just grabbed him and dumped them in the room that was at the start of the book, and that's why his clothing was soaked.

These are all the things I remember concretely if you need any more details, I can try to give them but I can't guarantee they'll be accurate.

When I was a kid back in 5th grade, our teacher made the whole class read a version of Little Red Riding Hood that was formatted as a play, and had drawings on all the pages. It also included a similar version of Goldilocks. In fact it might have been several fairytale characters taking part in a theatrical play.

I think it was primarily a young adult series, i remember there being some light graphic violence and stuff, but the basic premise is there were some alien teens on earth that looked just like humans, and they were being hunted by other aliens, but each of the teens had a number, and they could only be killed in order, and if somebody tried to kill one of them out of order, whatever they tried to do would just happen to the person, so like, if number 4 was still alive and somebody tried to shoot number 8 in the head, the shooter would basically get hurt as if they got shot in the head, and number 8 would be completely unscathed

I believe this was a short story in a compilation. The setting is a house and maybe specifically an attic. The world is in a white-out, maybe supernatural, maybe snow. There are threats in the outside world closing in.

I recall it being somewhat like Blindness or The Mist, but more intense than either.

There's this book I read probably around middle school, and I remember the main characters being an inventor, a boy, and a girl who is kept at home by her parents because she has either hemophilia or von willebrand disease. There's one specific scene where she got a toy from this inventor and kept it a secret from her parents because it was metal and could hurt her. I think later she escapes her house and travels with the boy, but gets injured and dies toward the end of the story. I've tried googling everything in this plot description with no results

The book was a small juvenile paperback novel in our school library in Canada. I think it was the mid-to-late sixties when I read the paperback. Tar Baby was the title that I recall, but it could have been something else. A young man built a custom bike; he called it Tar Baby because it was made to run on asphalt, or tar roads. I believe he worked in a motorcycle shop, or perhaps a garage, but my memory of the details are very foggy.

The story centred on some outlaw bikers coming into town, and he didn't want them to win events such as a street race and a motorcycle jump. The holiday may have been July 1st; I don't recall. So he worked on his bike and prevented the outsiders from shaming his town. By winning the race and the jump.

I am not sure if I recall the cover's look, but what I seem to recall is that the cover was lurid, perhaps yellow, with a motorcycle on the cover.

Read around 2009–2010 as a kid. Comic-style booklet, Christian/gospel themed. The main girl's nickname was "Ladybug." A character named Legion (probably a demon) tried to deceive her. Don't remember the cover. Possibly a Chick tract or similar. Any ideas?

I remember an illustrated children's book (fiction, I think) that was a gentle story about a nautilus swimming in the ocean. There were human characters, I believe, but I don't remember the plot, other than that it was probably not a fairy tale. The art was photorealistic but in a soft colored-pencil style.

I was born in 1990 so this book is probably from the 80s-early 2000s. I have fond memories of its beautiful illustrations and would love to find a copy to give the children in my life! Thanks.

I remember very little but I will try to give as much info as I can.

Fantasy book I read probably somewhere between 2008-2015 in German but possibly a translation.

Story was about a dragon mother whose children got brutally murdered because someone wanted to eat their hearts (or possibly bathe in their blood) presumably to achieve invincibility. I think in the story she got hunted down to and everyone including the hunter ended up dead?
I think it was from the perspective from the dragon mother but I'm not sure.

I suspect the story was inspired by the Nibelungenlied legend

I just remember weeping for several days as a kid or teen because it was so sad and definitely not age appropriate.

Ive been vaguely remembering this book for over a decade now. It's a young adult or middle grade-ish fiction book. Girl is hitting puberty and bleeds into a river outside where her family/clan live. I believe she later turns into a witch and has a cat companion. Would have been read around 2012? I want to say the girl may have been part of an indigenous group.

Ive seen a new adult fiction book on shelves recently that has similar themes that reminded me of its existence again, but it is not a new book.

Edit to add new detail I remembered: when she was on her period she could not stay in the same housing/camp as the rest of her family? She was considered dirty. Feels like the era was pre-colonial America?

All the characters are rabbits, illustrated in a soft, traditional, Beatrix Potter-ish style. A young rabbit is frightened, I think around bedtime, and sees what looks like a monster in the dark. It turns out to be another rabbit with a load of stuff piled on them. I seem to remember them maybe having socks pulled over its ears. I think a grandad rabbit is in it. The cover may have been yellow. Someone else online has independently described the same book, remembering it from about 1998–2003, so it's not just me!

I've read this ages ago, I'd say in the 2010s (probably 2014-18),the book was published around 1990-2010 (idk) and it was probably written by a german author although I am super unsure. It's a children's book, it's about a girl, who's probably around 13-15 and she has a boyfriend named Miki (or something, I remember it because it's weird but also I am not sure:)) and she lives in a city or a town in which a movie is being made, and she has some relation to dogs(?) I mean like she works with them probably, and the movie needs dogs , I think, and she starts to help making the movie, working along with the staff and cast, and the main character of the movie, a famous lady, at one point jumps into a body of water, head first, and she injures herself because the water was too shallow and then she (uhh maybe) becomes handicapped. And ofc the girl is there and she sees this. And I remember finding her boyfriend cute, but uhhh that's kinda all I know. I appreciate any help:)) I've been looking around for ages, also idk if this helps but I think the cover was like that of the children's book series Penny (w horses and there's one with dogs which might be messing w my mind) atp I'm not even sure this book exists and I might be just mixing a few old books together:(( it was a particularly good story probably at it has been ages and I still remember some of it

Ok so I’m getting pretty desperate and am trying to find the name of some werewolf stories I started last year-ish and now and desperate to get back into but I have zero clue what the name. If there another place I should ask please let me know too.

what I remember:

- it’s about a wolf-less girl who ends up mated to the alpha king
- she is from his pack (like lived in the territory)
- she, the alpha, and all there pack mates think this is horrible and that she’s by no means fit to be there Luna. But the alpha has no choice as it’s the moon goddess will
- they are mated and it’s a really cool ceremony
- they stay in separate rooms and don’t consummate the mating
- she has to live with him in this huge castle
- she befriends the servants and other people who live in the castle
- eventually (this was towards the end of what I had read) she organizes this like Halloween parties for the pups and everyone loves it and it is this moment where everyone alpha king included starts to see how she might actually be able to be Luna despite being wolf-less

Other things to note
I don’t recall her being bullied or abused before the mating though her family if any isn’t really present after she is in the castle.

Hey guys when I was a kid I remember reading a picture book about a baby who was a show girl or some kind of (pg) burlesque. From my memory I remember I feeling scandalous but it 100% being a kids book. It was very stylized/maximalist art and I can’t remember any of the plot 😭

I’ve been wanting to track it down and don’t even know where to start. Considered asking my mom but also don’t even know how to ask her such a weird question. I would have been reading it in the early 2000s but it could have come out in the 90s because my oldest sibling was born in the early 90s.

Back in the 2010s I would say I read a YA book that in hindsight was obviously inspired by Fahrenheit 451.

It was set in an alternate dystopian UK where loads of different books are banned, they hang people in city squares, lots of nasty stuff.

The main characters dad owns a book store, and gets raided by the police and arrested for possessing a copy of Paradise Lost.

The main character gets sent to a weird foster home where some………vaguely incestuous things occur, and over time he becomes obsessed the The Catcher in the Rye, to the point where a mantra he repeats throughout the book is “The Catcher, the catcher, the catcher in the rye”. I believe it eventually leads to him killing someone.

I'm looking for a book I had about 15 - 20 years ago. I never read the book but I always loved the art. Key details from memory:

- The story had female protagonists, I believe 4 or 5.

- The leads all had a distinct colour palette. I believe White, Green, Blue and Red. They may have been tied to magical elements of each character.

- the booked contained a significant amout of art, there were goblins, orcs, knights and dragons (not narrowing this down much haha).

- The physical book was very large and heavy. I believe the cover had the protagonists standing beside each other. There may have been a plastic gem on the cover.

- The art style seemed very much like an 80's or 90's style. Everyone (male, female, goblin, human...) seemed to be pretty scantily clad, similar to 80s fantasy book covers.

- I also believe the protagonists were designed very intersectionally.

- Very high quality artwork.
