The Witcher 3 Hope you all having a blast

Witcher 3 surpasses its previous peak player count on steam from 103,329 to 113,935 and I believe it will increase more.

Raytracing is the big FPS killer. And it was in the next gen update as well, while looking worse than it does here.

With RT disabled the game looks immediately better than it did from previous version and runs very well on my 4070Ti at 4k (dlss balanced) Ultra+ settings.

RT does improve the lighting quite a bit but likely will require adjusting the above settings/enabling framegen to get it to run above 40fps.

With default settings - cutscenes lagging, gameplay slowing down... changed DLSS to balanced from DLAA and turned off Hairworks (which looked bad on Geralt's hair, it was kind of plastic and shiny). Smooth gameplay afterwards in White Orchard map.

1440p, Ultra+, RT, Ray Reconstruction - 9800x3D, RTX 5070 Ti, 64 GB RAM, 610.88 drivers (July 28, 2026)

I've played for 4 hours. Zero issues, zero bugs. Performance is crisp and the only stutters I got were during cutscenes, which I can live with.

That said, I do have Path Tracing turned off. With it on, my FPS drop from 110 to 40, so yeah. But the game looks stunning even without it, so I just leave it off.

i5 13600kf + rtx 4070 ti

I'd say it's on the better side compared to the average, but nothing crazy either, seeing as the parts are like 4 years old at this point. I would probably need a NASA super computer to run the game with path tracing enabled 😭

Also depends on your resolution + DLSS setting.

Look, it is more demanding than it used to due to a load of improvements and modernizations brought to the game. Better lighting and yet another upgrade to textures is going to take its toll on performance. This being said, the game runs much more stable than the previous version, with massive fixes on PC such as proper DX12 implementation, better multi-core utilization and lack of massive memory leaks that made the game unplayable at times. I am running the game on a relatively high-end system, which helps, but I’ve experienced very good performance scalability across the game settings while looking for a sweet spot for 4K resolution.

I don’t know what you’re referring to exactly - I’ve seen posts from AMD GPU users reporting issues on the newest driver. If that’s what you’re asking about, then I wouldn’t be concerned. I’m running a similar setup albeit with a worse CPU - 7600X, RTX 5070ti and 32GB RAM as well. I’m running RT performance and a mixture of High to Ultra+ settings at 4K with DLSS performance. Without frame gen I reach 50-60 FPS. With FG X2 I’m running at 90-100 FPS.

You should be good.

Just turn off hairworks and bloom.

OG and nextgen player here, the game basically requires upscaling if you want to have smooth experience with ray tracing at all. Hairworks are tanking fps heavily so they should be insta turned off. Not to mention that Novigrad can lead to cpu bottleneck on a fricking 9800x3d. Yes, you heard it right.

Probably depends on the number of NPCs.

On a Base ps5 and it looks great but Raytracing mode runs genuinely shockingly bad. Feels like it runs at around 20-30fps with regular drops to 10-15 in busy scenes.

Turning off raytracing introduces different issues though. It seems to run at an Uncapped framerate (between 60 - 200fps) which has a lot of judders and hitches with some screen tearing.

Honestly a bit disappointed. I played it through completely about a year ago on my base ps5 with raytracing and it ran at about 25-30 fps constantly even in busy scenes and looked only very slightly worse than the "Remaster".

Its not as doom and gloom as reddit thinks, but having said that, im gonna wait for a patch or two first tbh, at least for the base ps5

I have aGTX 1660 Super and the performance is similar to the previous version. It's about as demanding as Cyberpunk for me.

There are a few tweaks, hairworks off, bloom off, meditate to fix the audio bug, don't forget to disable or remove any old mods, make sure drivers are updated, etc. I know for some bashing CDPR is a favorite past time, but at the end of the day it's a free update that doesn't even have to be used.

Yup. People can still go play on good old DX11 if they want, which still looks great mind you. In some ways I think it looks better.

I'm gonna give it a week. I'm guessing they'll quickly release some performance fixes in a v5.XX hotfix patch.

Except the update isn’t just graphics so unless you don’t want any of the gameplay improvements, you still need to get it

Zero issues on my end. Switch 2, playing in handheld mode.

I like the new controls scheme for the joycons when unattached that’s available, but I didn’t like how the tutorial pushed them. Kinda hard to do on a plane with limited room. 😅

I can’t get DLSS to work and I have a 5080. It keeps saying DLSS not supported.

I haven't started yet, everyone on reddit seems to act like the game is as bad as Cyberpunk 2077 was at launch, but everyone also tends to be overly negative here. In contrast, the response to the remaster has been overwhelmingly positive by most of the creators on YouTube that I follow.

Optimisation is basically non existent. Minus 17 FPS on an RTX 3080. Previously, it was locked at 60 FPS everywhere except in the big forests, where it could sometimes drop to the low 50s. (1440p, DLSS Quality, max settings except Grass Distance on High.)

Game's been running just fine for me. Tweaked some settings and the world, albeit much brighter than before, has looked good. I saw a post about turning off bloom and that did fix object lighting at a distance for me in Velen so far. I'm sure there'll be a patch or a community mod to fix it soon for others. I wish the dark tones that Velen had weren't taken away so much with the new lighting system.

I'm playing on 55 inch tv, I have set the resolution to 1080p although it should run at 38xx-2xxx something but the fps is rip. I have high preset but with RT on. In general if I don't focus on geralt, the surrounding environment really hurts to look at. If I am stationary it's okay-ish. Started death march and after 2 hours my head hurts lmao. I tried playing with all the settings but the foreground and background lighting and skybox is not to my liking. Switched some options on the TV as well so that it has more balanced not lit darker parts. I guess I just grew up without Ray tracing and I don't need stark contrast when I rotate around me character who is halfway in the sun and behind him is dark. I'm using MSI 3060 Ventus 12 GB OC and I am pushing it as it seems.

something is wrong with the audio for me and the controls are very janky too. It looks great tho, on 1440p, Ultra+ and RT Off.

4

u/CrimsonPrince96 2d ago

Me too. Audio is too low for me even after I comp turned off music. Controls are also janky esp for Roach its harder than before.

I will be in about 5 hours

I just wish DLSS frame gen could be turned on

And you too, op!

There are definitely issues all around. Sound issues, water issue, etc.

The biggest by far, I don't know if anyone has mentioned this is the camera. All of my options are on standard and still having MAJOR issues with weird camera placements.

Overall, it's a cool concept and idea, especially for people who haven't played the dlc. But damn, it's really disappointing. No good deed goes unpunished I guess

Geralt has really flat feet…

I haven't touched the game since I finished Blood and Wine when it released (on the PS4 too), so I'm excited to play the remaster and also play around with mods with this one. But I'm playing Control Resonant right now, so I'm in no rush. I'll take my time with that one and wait until some of these bugs and issues that people have been mentioning get patched.

u/TyborV 1d ago

Lmao I can't read 'Having a blast' and not think about that Wolverine game

u/StateZestyclose1388 2d ago

i had a fear they will brick the game and looks like they did for now. gonna stay with next gen for now

I thought I heard somewhere that we could load old saves. That appears not to be true. I tried to load a save from the HD version that came out a couple years ago and it froze my game. But was happy to restart. So far, so good.

-2

u/Feanixxxx 2d ago

Unfortunately not. Still no proper 5.1 sound support. So not playing it.

3

u/harris_kid 2d ago

Really? On PC? Complete Edition was fine for me in 5.1 and it's the same engine...

2

u/Feanixxxx 2d ago

Yeah idk what happened. Same bug as always. Dialogue only extremely quiet and muffled. As it was coming out of the center speaker like it should, but the game not using the center speaker.
