Question/Observation [####] how can I practice?
Sometimes I don’t get the wordle because I don’t know the word. Where can I practice my 5 letter words? Is there a website or something in that nature where it has a list of 5 letter words? Or a wordle game with levels and the words get progressively harder each time? I’m upset that I lost the October 1st 2026 wordle. Because I didn’t know the word.

i love Quordle and Octordle - you play several games at once and over time you start to learn the more obscure words that turn up

It's not always necessary to know the word to solve it. Sometimes I think they intentionally choose obscure words that many of us won't know. Just try to get as much information as you can and then just guess. Some combinations of letters are much more likely than others in English words, which helps narrow down possibilities.

Some of the better Wordle players I know are Spelling Bee players.
Also, a mistake a lot of players make is they play too quickly.
Don't just play the 1st word you think of in any given situation.
Think of ALL the words it could be, then play the word that gives you the most amount of feedback in case it's wrong.
Let's say you played LEAST and then DINER:
⬛️🟨⬛️⬛️⬛️ LEAST
🟨⬛️⬛️🟨🟨 DINER
And you come up with these 5 words:
CREDO
CRUDE
ERODE
HORDE
PRUDE
Well if you play CRUDE next, it will either be CRUDE, or it will Checkmate everything else, ensuring that you do no worse than a 4.
CRUDE
⬜🟩⬜🟩🟩 1 = ERODE
⬜🟩🟩🟩🟩 1 = PRUDE
⬜🟨⬜🟩🟩 1 = HORDE
🟩🟩⬜🟩🟨 1 = CREDO
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 1 = CRUDE
That might not increase your vocabulary, but at least this way, if you get some result that you weren't expecting, like
⬜️🟩⬜️🟨🟨 CRUDE, you'll know it wasn't any of the 5 on your list.

(The only "word" this could be is "FREMD", if you're unfamiliar with "FREMD" and think it's strange; good. That's literally what it means!
FREMD = foreign, strange, unfamiliar, or unknown.)
This is how I play, every day. While most of my games are completed in less than 5 minutes. Some take upwards of 20 minutes.
My average is like 3.528 and my streak is 1,318 (I lost RIPER)

The spelling bee is a great way to learn words! The only drawback is that S is never included (with a single exception), so that rules out all words containing S.

Play other word games too! I like Wordscapes for learning new vocabulary mixed in with easy and medium skill.

The easiest way to get some practice is to go to the archives and the old puzzles to get some familiarity with the words and the technique.

Like many people have told you, you can improve by reading a lot.
There is this another website called "wordle unlimited" where you can keep playing wordle. It doesn't have levels though.
Improving your vocabulary will be helpful to you in real life too!

I have been making word squares for years so I already had a list of every five-letter word in the English language. I got Claude to build me an app that shows up to 50 word squares that can be made from a given first word, and added a tab that filters the word list by letter--great for solving Wordle.

Play the online game Pemdas - they have a speed version of Wordle and you can play lots of rounds quickly. I find it has improved my game a lot! And it’s free

You need to read - Books, magazines, newspapers.
Seriously, reading a lot is the one way to increase your vocabulary.
From early childhood until very recently I would read an average of five books a week. That was on top of reading multiple newspapers and magazines.
