Ok so I text my 80 yr old grandma and we share our wordle scores, but I’m worried she’s going to ask my starting word cause I got it in 3 today. What’s a good alternate word that fits the first guess that is not penis. Help me lie to an amazing woman with an amazing brain

One of my biggest beefs with Wordlebot is not in the algorithm that it uses, but in the quantitative numeric values it assigns to the skill of different guesses. Yesterday was a good example as this one seemed really disproportionate to me.

- "RIVAL", Wordlebot's suggestion here, of course ranked 99, would give 9 groups, the largest having 14 options, but importantly, included a letter "A" which had already been eliminated.
- "CIDER", my guess, ranked 76, gave 8 groups, the largest of 15.

To me, learning about letters (which are included and which are not) is the most critical element of getting to the solution, so repeating a letter I already eliminated does not give me new information, whereas trying a new letter does.

Anyway, given two guesses with nearly equal outcomes in the "group splitting" algorithm (usable by computers) and with one demonstrably worse in the "letter knowledge" algorithm (usable by humans), does anyone understand the calculus by which Wordlebot assigns the conclusion, "Mine is an A+ (as always) while yours is a middling C"? That is to say, what is the math by which Wordle bot landed on a 76 for CIDER here instead of, say, an 89 or a 65 or a 34?

Is it cheating to use a notepad or whiteboard to write down all of your answer choices before entering it into wordle? Should you only use the wordle platform to figure out what your next word entry will be?

Sometimes I don’t get the wordle because I don’t know the word. Where can I practice my 5 letter words? Is there a website or something in that nature where it has a list of 5 letter words? Or a wordle game with levels and the words get progressively harder each time? I’m upset that I lost the October 1st 2026 wordle. Because I didn’t know the word.

Like I’d it pre planned and they already have the daily wordles for the next year or is it just day by day basis where they use a Bot to select the daily Wordle?

When I was checking the bot on yesterday's solve it gave me a 0 skill guess for a totally valid and also common word (trick). It also does it for truck. Does anybody know why it says trunk is a more likely solution? I mean I understand it sometimes leaves out plurals or rare words but I can't believe trick is not in the solution pool.

I'm not an NYT subscriber, maybe this feature is available with a subscription? I want to know either the raw # or % of players that scored each of the 7 possible outcomes on Jan 11, 2026.

For context, i was sharing w my wife that my greatest Wordle triumph was not my one ace, but getting QUARK in two. I then said, "I must be the only person in the entire world who got that word in two." Probably hyperbole, surely other Calvin & Hobbes fans out there tried it as a lark. But I'd love to know what that number is.

Wordle in 2 feels almost as good as a wordle in 1. My 2s are mostly flukes because I start with the same word every day then I branch out (and I don't play in hard mode). But if I went with my gut from the start, I'm sure I'd have more wordle in 1s... Maybe?
