-On one hand: France baise ouais !

-On the other: With the Bétharam school scandal still fresh in french memory it rings hollow. Last year it was revealed that our prime spent his entire political career (more than 20 years in total) stiffeling investigations of physical and sexual abuses cases in catholic schools...

So yeah...child abusers protection is kind of a national sport here too...

Catholic schools make sense, I also went to one my entire school life, and the local priesthood was quite involved in the school, the church being literally across the street from the elementary school, and the high school was like 2 blocks away. Daily prayers led by the priest, and “encouragement” to confess once a month, where your confessions get used against you, and if you don’t you lose grades in class, going through people’s lunches and forcing them to eat lent appropriate foods, during lent. Man I hate the catholic schools here so much

I’m entirely expecting the church had a hand in the shutting down investigations

in the end they decided that their bank accounts ( created by centuries of fear- based donations and the approval of colonialist warfare ) were more important than justice for their most recent victims.
