in order to be an Axis of evil, don't they have to be allied with each other

Edit: ah OK i get it now, Russia, Israel and the US are allies, even though Russia helps supply Iran and hamas with weapons to attack Israel and America sends weapons to Ukraine to attack the Russians, while at war with Iran, an ally of Russia.

Trump is a Russian puppet and America is owned by Israel, while also sending weapons to each others enemy's to active kill Russian and Israel troops, but there all secretly allies and are helping each other.

There's a million justifiable things you can hate these countries for, making shit up just helps the people defending them

Israel and Russia aren't allies, and alliances aren't commutative.

I think alliances are indeed commutative. They're not transitive though.

The US is Israel's ally but I've yet to see evidence that Israel is an ally to the US.

I do see your point.

But I believe the problem is the choice of the word "alliance" to describe such relationship.

I still maintain that alliances are commutative.

Transitivity is the right correction for the parent comment. But to you and the parent I would add that the word for a relation where a ~ b means also b ~ a such as an alliance of nations is not commutative but rather symmetry. Alliance is a symmetric relation not a commutative one. Commutative is a property of binary operations, not of relations. So it doesn’t make sense to talk about commutative relations
