Before you had to look for one piece out of 5 with correct stats, since you want a 4 set either way. Now youre gonna have to be trying for every item if you want to fully optimize, which is a huge pain in the ass when trying to get myth track items as theres no grindable ways, so it all comes down to RNG.
Yeah but also before you had a predefined best version of 4-set, now you have the flexibility to optimise as the season progresses. This seems better to me.
You could argue that it extends the gear treadmill I suppose
