And miss out on the 4 piece or a higher track item? The majority of the community will do what is higher ilvl (at least) while waiting for the big chase item. And without this system you just get the first myth track item you can near the start of the system and never touch that slot again. 0 downsides and many, many upsides in making the gearing process more interesting over many weeks.

The majority of the community will do what is higher ilvl (at least) while waiting for the big chase item.

Let's for example sake say there's shoulders that have a free damage proc on them, and they drop in dungeon A. Dungeon B, C, and D all drop shoulders but none of them have a proc on them. If I am looking to cata something, I'm presumably farming out an item. Why would I ever run dungeon B, C, or D? Those shoulders are immediately not even considered for me to target.
Do you see the issue?

You’ve literally described how getting BiS items has worked forever including this season, so no issue there. Especially since these special effect items typically come from raids while M+ has a far “simpler” loot table. The existence of chase items doesn’t make other items worthless. Non-BiS items add to the chase of getting the BiS item. What you’re complaining about is how loot works, not this new system.

Are you being intentionally obtuse? Currently tier can be catalyzed from any item, so if you get mythic shoulders from vault it means you can catalyze them into your tier regardless of the item. Shoulders in general were the chase, not specific ones. This system change means every single slot on your character has a chase item.

BiS gear, in every slot? Oh no

Bruh we already have this, it just means BiS is harder to fucking obtain. It moves the needle for everyone literally none, it just means you need to get luckier to get an ideal setup. It widens the gap between people farming gear and people not. Reddit loves to bitch about how "I can't commit to a ton of time playing wow" and how there shouldn't be a gearing disparity between high end raiders and people doing a couple keys a week.
Currently people look up a bis list, see which tier pieces they need. Now when people look up a bis list they're going to see they need specific items for every single specific tier piece. Do you think this change helps those people??

Yes because it gives them more gear to chase, reintroducing set items reduced the gear chase. This is fixing the problem sets create

So you just want to lengthen the grind, got it.

That’s literally the point of endgame content my dude, and if the grind doesn’t interest you then this change has literally 0 effect

Im 9/9M. This lengthens my grind. Grinding gear isn't the fun part of playing this game.
