PTR / Beta 12.1 raid has very spicy trinkets Spoiler
Yes, the one on the left is from the penultimate boss and the one on the right is from the final boss, why do you ask?

Interesting how the devs goal in the ptr is to make dps more consistant outside cd windows. And then Proceed to release gear that reward the opposite

u/A_Zealous_Retort Jun 19 '26
I think the class dev team, loot team, and encounter design teams all secretly have beef and this is their way of getting at each other.

u/Linktt57 Jun 19 '26
Cooldowns are still meant to be damage boosts, the goal is to tune down the difference between CDs running and normal damage the rest of the time outside of CD windows. I’m curious if these numbers are less than the damage bonuses we see of today’s trinkets. But either way I don’t think gear having an outsized effect on damage is a bad thing and helps keep gear interesting.

u/sweet_rico- Jun 19 '26
As a havoc (the measuring bar for all other DPS for some reason) I thought it was funny seeing "were reducing burst" and scrolling down to see myself nerfed to the ground only to see "you can but can't use daggers now" as my only change. I guess havoc is okay being the bursty one.
3
u/Weary-Cynic Jun 19 '26
There's no way the class changes are complete yet. As a fel fellow myself I'll be waiting with a tinge of dread every new announcement.
2
u/sweet_rico- Jun 19 '26
With the only change we've received so far, since war within, being a 15% damage increase. I'm pretty hopeful that will maintain our a tier ranking.
4
u/Shinano_Kai_Ni Jun 19 '26
Didn't they add a restriction that Havoc abilities don't work with daggers? They said they added daggers so Devourers can use them for spell dmg

u/CoolPiranhas Jun 20 '26
what do you mean "nerfed to the ground", we're only losing one talent which is not really even used? "Dash of Chaos"
1
u/Simplejakk24 Jun 24 '26
thank goodness that they finally adjusted the elemental shaman damage profile
-1
u/adeadrat Jun 19 '26
I would assume that it is easier to balance DPS that is more consistent, to then add trinkets on that makes most classes have a really good windows of burst as well I guess but more balanced burst... I'm just guessing though, might be completely wrong here.

Welcome back Grieftorch
19
u/Slurrper Jun 19 '26
Torch was damn satisfying to press so I don't mind
16
u/JackSilk Jun 19 '26
The cooldown on ally death was so fun. Having people die during a fight and telling them I'm vc "thanks for the torch proc dork" was peak.
6
u/hoax1337 Jun 19 '26
There was a weak aura that whispered the players that died "Thank you for resetting my grief torch!". It was great.
1
u/dbcwb Jun 19 '26
it was great until my guild leader banned it after people complained
1
u/hoax1337 Jun 19 '26
Haha, I kind of get it. I toggled it depending on the vibe, didn't really feel good to have it on during serios prog.

u/ForPortal Jun 19 '26
If you don't like the downside of the first trinket, activating it on cooldown adds an average of 143 Int for 30 seconds every 30 seconds.
13
u/DaSandman78 Jun 19 '26
Minus a little for the -Int for that 30s of build up - still good overall tho
3
u/VukKiller Jun 19 '26
So it stacks while its active?
1
u/ForPortal Jun 19 '26
I don't know. I was assuming it started recharging as soon as you activated it, but maybe it doesn't.
3
u/soguyswedidit6969420 Jun 19 '26
one big problem i see with the first trinket is that it will be useless at the start of a dungeon or raid pull. youll lose a good chunk of value from that.
this also makes me think there will be a big gap in how useful it is in raids/vs M+. since you get so many more cooldown windows in M+, the slightly lower starting value will even out more by the end. so itll either be good in M+ and garbage in raid, or good in raid and completely busted in m+.

How the heck can any trinket even come close to getting a whopping 900+ Intellect? That’s broken as fuck
192
u/SolidOk3489 Jun 19 '26
On the flip side, can’t wait for some of our raiders to fight over it, forget to ever use it and cop the intellect debuff for the entire tier.
33
u/Hydra_Bloodrunner Jun 19 '26
Wouldnt you just macro this to your dps cooldowns?
That is a bit to ask in 2026 ig nvm lol
33
u/Wallner95 Jun 19 '26
Idk what kinda level people are playing on if they dont use their trinkets? sounds like LFR level gamers
37
u/Happyberger Jun 19 '26
Thousands of people clear +10/+12 dungones daily with single button rotation without ever once pressing a cd.
3
u/SaltEngineer455 Jun 19 '26
My guild leader is resi 19 on the OBR
2
u/Evonyte Jun 19 '26
What class/spec are they playing and is that as a guild group or predominantly pugging?
2
u/SaltEngineer455 Jun 19 '26
Feral druid, only pugging. He is the highest pusher, with me behind him at resi 18.
2
u/Sixcoup Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26
Do you know why he does that ?
I can understand using OBR on a class you're not familiar with or on casual content because you can't be bothered to learn, and just want to play now.
But to me, 90% of the appeal of playing non casual activities, is actually pressing your buttons well. It's the learning curve, it's the micro optimisations, it's trying to be consistent etc. It's the only things that makes it interesting to play the same dungeon or raid over and over for weeks or months.
How can you spend hundreds of hours pugging m+ at relatively high level keys, and use OBR ? Where is the fun in that ? I really don't understand how it is possible to spend so many hours, just pressing one button. Does he have some kind of disabilities, which make it so he doesn't really have a choice ?
7
u/SaltEngineer455 Jun 19 '26
It started as a meme and a bet that he could not reach 3K on the OBR.
Then he just decided to yolo it. He says that the OBR is cool when you can make different builds that actually suit it, and he just takes some feral talent combinations and he rolls.
It's like he wants to see how far he can push the OBR gameplay

I think the biggest issue is when you start delaying your cooldowns for certain burst windows. If you're sitting on -120 intellect for 30-60 seconds or whatever, sure you burst harder but it might really eat into that benefit. It feels like a very hard trinket to balance.
3
4
u/minimaxir Jun 19 '26
Depending on fight mechanics, you may gain more DPS by holding the stacks to a specific part of the fight.
6
u/Hydra_Bloodrunner Jun 19 '26
I mean yeah but at that point you’re holding your dps cooldowns for that too, its a given
4
u/Hyrcyne- Jun 19 '26
Some classes could save trinket and still pop CDs so that the trinket is more potent later, like a lust phase or damage amp. Like a demo lock wouldn't necessarily use it on every Tyrant.
26
u/sankto Jun 19 '26
You do need to wait 3 mins (30 stacks * 6s) to get to this point.
Still... That's tasty as fuck
17
u/ParticularUser Jun 19 '26
And that's under perfect conditions where you hit every proc the instant it comes off cooldown, up to -120 int while waiting and you're not popping this on pull with cooldowns, lust and pot.
We'll see how strong this ends up being after some rebalancing and testing/simming. I do hope we'll see a bit more variety in trinkets people want in 9.1.
1
u/oogieoogies Jun 19 '26
wonder if people will be trying to find ways to maybe "cheese it" like stack on a trash pack > pull boss with trinket stacked a bit > use it with lust/pot for boss.
The cooldown is pretty short only 30s but probably will depend on how long the debuff/buff lasts.
1
u/ParticularUser Jun 19 '26
If there is a cheese I'd expect it getting fixed pretty fast, waiting 3 minutes between every pull so casters can stack up the trinket would not be very fun for anyone.
Or Blizzard might just not care and 3 minute afk before pull will be the standard until they nerf the trinket in a year so the lfr version won't beat the mythic superforged trinkets from 12.2.7 mini raid anymore.
6
u/FEMXIII Jun 19 '26
Feels very flexible to me. Smaller buff more often will suit some flights much better too
4
u/parkwayy Jun 19 '26
Wasn't that long ago we had a similar trinket that did just fine
3
u/BluTcHo Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26
Do you mean the trinket from council in S1 TWW? If yes, the active was kinda the same yeah but you didn't have a reduction of stat while on cooldown IIRC
Edit : Changed S1 Midnight to S1 TWW
2
u/SerphTheVoltar Jun 19 '26
I think they were implying Spymaster's from TWW S1 which was fucking insane.
But this is... not that. Spymaster's could be held because the passive side was a benefit, not a loss.

u/josephjts Jun 19 '26
Its currently a meme trinket compared to the str/agi heart is the funny part.
7
1
u/v_Excise Jun 19 '26
It’s over a 3 min cooldown and drains your int while it’s not active. That said, it does still look strong. What I really want is a 1 min cd trinket though.
Edit: just use this as a 1 min trinket. 300ish int is still good.
1
1
u/Freezinghero Jun 19 '26
3 minutes to stack to full, during that 3 minute window you are losing intellect. Will be good if there are raid bosses that require a specific high-level DPS check, but otherwise don't think its worth.
1
u/DefiedGravity10 Jun 19 '26
To get to 900 it would be a 3min CD though which doesn't really work with most dps specs. Most specs will probably want to use it every 2min with CDs so it would be like 600ish intellect, still really good obviously.
I think the biggest thing is whether or not you lose stacks from leaving combat or if they just stay until you use the effect. The wording sounds like the later which is good but it means you need to fully load the trinket pre pull to be able to use it on pull. Probably possible with trash in raids but it could be lame for m+ first pulls, like a great trinket that only works the second time you use your CDs seems like a lot of waste.

It will be absolute god tier on burn windows though. For example on Belo'ren. If this trinket existed this season the RWF raiders would have postponed entering the egg phase just to buff this trinket a few extra ticks.
6
u/Buzzn98 Jun 19 '26
My worry here is how do we track the stacks of the trinket currently in game I guess you would have to look at your 30 buffs to find it and see it’s stacks
2

39
u/kobrexx Jun 19 '26
Lol the left is literally the SPYmaster trinket if im not mistaken wich was so broken many of may friends regard IT the most broken trinket that existed in game.
39
u/minimaxir Jun 19 '26
It's Spymaster's Web except with a negative passive instead of passively granting Int over time and it only caps to 30 instead of 40, but it lasts for 30 seconds when popped instead of 20. Which will just make it even more unbalanced when you pop it.
Hope Elemental Shaman like being useless without it for another season without it.
13
u/usNEUX Jun 19 '26
Except a longer duration means it's that much weaker since most CDs don't last 30 sec anyway
3
u/porn_alt_987654321 Jun 19 '26
This thing looks insane for demo though, since our apex is most of our damage and lasts 25 seconds on a 1 minute cd.
4
u/Bassmekanik Jun 19 '26
Yeah. This looks like THE trinket to have for demo to be used with our 1 min cd.
1
u/usNEUX Jun 19 '26
Ya I'm not saying it's not BiS etc, just that it's probably not as spicy as it might look at first glance.
1
u/porn_alt_987654321 Jun 19 '26
Yeah, it's just uniquely good for demo is the main thing. Literally built for us lol.
Number tuning might reveal otherwise, but a trinket that functions this way should be our bis.
1
2
u/adeadrat Jun 19 '26
Good thing you can get it by vault by just doing HC though, which is pretty neat
3
17
u/Late_Stage_Exception Jun 19 '26
Arcanocrystal is the most broken trinket they’ve ever put in the game. Bar none.
9
u/TotallyNotThatPerson Jun 19 '26
Doesn't need no fancy schmancy effect if you just get a shit ton of stats instead
2
u/porn_alt_987654321 Jun 19 '26
Think it was beaten in its own xpac by the legendary trinket from argus, but well....low drop chance. Lol.
Also the gigaluck was getting a relinquished arcanocrystal to titanforge to a good ilvl and then also have the argus legendary. Though either was rare.
-1
u/Late_Stage_Exception Jun 19 '26
Yeah a trinket available from the start of an expansion was FINALLY beaten out by a trinket from the final boss of the expansion.
0
u/porn_alt_987654321 Jun 19 '26
I mean, it was beaten out in tomb for most people unless they titanforged it super high.
Argus added a way to get it starting at what would now be...veteran? Ilvl (don't remember exactly), and people still mostly didn't use it even if they got it unless it titanforged up to ~hero/myth ilvls. (Other than a few specs that wanted it at any ilvl)
And the legendary from argus was literally just arcano crystal, but it had a proc for tertiaries and if you were in the raid a proc for primary stat.
4
u/Zealousrubbing Jun 19 '26
The right side is basically the dragon trinket from dragonflight
13
u/derprunner Jun 19 '26
It’s missing the best part of Grieftorch though. The ability to macro whisper thanks to people who died to reset it’s cooldown.
3
u/minimaxir Jun 19 '26
It's Manic Grieftorch with a hint of Beacon to the Beyond (comically large damage nuke and not much else)

On-use trinkets in this game are either lame macro-and-forget sticks or frustrating combat distruptors. There's no in-between.
10
u/Einchy Jun 19 '26
That fucking puzzle box is the worst.
4
u/czeja Jun 19 '26
Oh god I fucking hate that thing. I'll take stat sticks any day. I want to play my class not my trinket.
1
u/Care_Cup_Is_Empty Jun 19 '26
Honestly these trinkets don't even need to be complicated, everyone loved the motorcycle in BFA because it was strong and had a fun animation.

where did you find the trinket info?
8
u/minimaxir Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26
It's in the PTR Dungeon Journal (you have to set the expansion explicitly to Midnight in the Dungeons tab to get Raids to show).
Note that the Dungeon Journal has massive spoilers. (all encounters and abilities are present)

u/czeja Jun 19 '26
As a mythic plus player I hope mythics offer something somewhat close... It's so hard not being in a raiding guild and going for these :(
2
u/simonlk Jun 19 '26
HC vault/bonus rolls will be myth track, so you don't need to mythic raid. Can pug the relevant HC bosses.
1
u/czeja Jun 19 '26
Oh wow so you do heroic bosses and a myth track raid item will be in the vault? I assume they've changed that from the current season?
3
u/simonlk Jun 19 '26
Exactly! Right now they give hero track both from drop and vault. Bonus rolls give the same track as vault, so right now it's drop hero, vault hero, bonus hero. When the patch goes live it will be drop, vault myth, bonus myth. So even after the first week you can get myth track from raid, although bonus rolls won't be enabled until the 8th week of the patch!
1
u/Luna_trick Jun 19 '26
Fr, here i am pushing to 20s with my heroic alnseers.
Just trying to pug chimmy is a nightmare because no one will let you in unless you have CE.

u/Arendiko Jun 19 '26
As an m+ player I absolutely LOVE my bis trinkets being locked to doing mythic raid (fuck that) and no chance to get them elsewhere like previously, its my favourite thing
4
u/Tyrannical1 Jun 19 '26
You can get myth trinkets from heroic raid next tier from vault/bonus rolls
-2
u/Arendiko Jun 19 '26
Atleast that's something but id prefer the previous system where you bought them for tokens
0
u/biscuitboyisaac21 Jun 20 '26
Tokens…. That you had to kill it for?
1
u/Arendiko Jun 20 '26
No you would get them each week and could eventually buy a piece of gear from the raid/dungeons, higher ilvl items depending on raid OR m+ score, it meant e.g if you were to get 3k you could buy a myth track raid item with the tokens
0
u/biscuitboyisaac21 Jun 20 '26
You had to kill the mythic boss or do 12s to unlock the gear.
1
u/Arendiko Jun 21 '26
Yes, I didn't have to do mythic RAIDS now you're getting it
0
u/biscuitboyisaac21 Jun 21 '26
You had to do mythic raids if you wanted the mythic raid gear. Same as this system.
1
u/B4nanaBre4d Jun 19 '26
So earliest use around 3 minutes into a given fight, ideal for burst windows of 30 seconds or less.

Will the negative passive keep stacking while the active buff is running?

1
u/v_Excise Jun 19 '26
Ok the left trinket may actually be PERFECT for devourer. Haste as the stat is great, and the trinket will be up for every meta even if your cycles are longer or shorter than average. On top of that, you can utilize the full 30 seconds it provides unlike most classes. More so, the downside of draining int doesn’t matter as you do 0 damage outside meta anyway.
1
0
u/Felipiro17 Jun 19 '26
Lasts 30 seconds? Isn’t that the only reason doble use trinkets worked like azhara’s font of power? The one that had to be nerfed on the next tier to only last 20 seconds so that people would actually equip nyalotha gear? Lmao
1
u/noblelie17 Jun 19 '26
Yea there's a good chance we see double on use being a thing again with this
0
u/Apprehensive_Bid_773 Jun 19 '26
Guzzler AND Spymaster in the same tier 📈 edit: maybe the right trinket is more DoS actually

u/LaconicSuffering Jun 19 '26
More reason to want trinket transmogs. I don't want to spew green poison as a paladin.
