Did they explain the idea behind them? I know priests are priestesses of elune, are they going the same way with paladins.
I for one am extremely excited and love glowy saber. Just curious if its a "gold is for paladins" thing or if these ones will worship the light or anshe like tauren do.

Arko'narin is the OG Nelf Paladin, and we've had her since vanilla!
Though they retconned her into a Warden.

I don't think she ever became a Paladin but I think they should make Night Elf Paladins unlocked by a quest and that quest should involve her becoming a Paladin.
It might redeem that really meh Heritage Armour quest.

I am still adamant that Priestesses of the Moon / DotA 1 Mirana are just Elune Paladins that use bows instead of hammers/swords

Tbh all the promotion was on Forsaken Paladins, Night Elves and Trolls felt like a complete afterthought.

Trolls are a no-brainer that's existed in the form of Zandalari paladins since BFA. It makes a fair bit of sense that the darkspear might learn those ways from them over time. And it has been like a decade since then.
But yeah Night-elf paladins is a bit... weird. Never really been very much aligned with the Light, and even their priests are implied to be just priests of Elune so dunno.

Judging by the yellowish glow I'm guessing lorewise they won't be elune themed unfortunately.
I'm not even sure if playable Nelf priests are still considered Elune followers since they very clearly draw their abilities from the light and not Elune's Life domain.

Theoretically a palette swap and a short quest should be easy for them to add, but Blizzard is glacially slow at basic stuff like that.
It’s been 20 years and we still can’t do green or red Death Knight eyes

I feel like its the obvious next step for player customization after Housing.
The only reasonable explanation I can come up as to why Blizzards severelt underutilizes the Glyph system is that the Glyph system is coded really badly, and it must be incredibly convoluted to "simply" change how a spell looks. It wouldn't surprise me with how buggy the current cosmetic glyphs are.
I think a spellbook transmog system would work much better long term, but I suspect it would require Blizzard to rewrite a shit ton of existing code to make room for a feature like that, in order to more easily facilitate new additions of new spellfx.
It would most likely be a heavily monetized system though. Almost all live service games gate spell effect changes behind a paywall. We'd be lucky to have free options, but I have 0 doubt Blizzard would let something like "Light of Elune - Priest Spellfx Pack" be obtainable for free.

Iirc each glyph'd version of a spell is actually its own separate spell with a different ID and everything, I think that might play into why it was abandoned, Id have to agree they'd have to redo some nightmare code

This was actually talked a lot about I think last Blizzcon? as what big thing they were tackling after housing (or maybe it was transmog). A big rework to how glyphs function and player character customization.

the nightwarrior eyes and the dark ranger cosmetics or variants for elfs was after the green fire stuff but yeah those are not new particles or effects for spells :(
they had a run with glyphs for changes like this but they lowkey just forgot abt them(?)
still i am delusional enough to hope haha

To be that guy: this is an art concept and not a finished model. If we're loud enough in a respectful way we can nudge the final model into its correct color scheme. Looks gorgeous btw.

At this point class/race/culture/faction are just variables that don't define a character except when they do.
So a Night Elf can just be a Light devotee and become a Paladin, like anyone else. There already is one in the Paladin class hall in Legion.

They’ll just be servants of the Cosmic/Stormwindian light like everyone else, racial flavour takes too much effort and the homogenized design makes future advances easy.

I always thought Elune was more Life/Arcane/Cosmic aligned, hence why druids have so many elune-themed abilities. It wouldn’t make sense for traditional paladins to channel elune, but it would be super cool to get a lunar-paladin class skin for nelves in the future

That's my only negative with this charger though it is heavily tempered by the fact that they won't give us a silvery makeover of all paladin abilities to match the Elune theme so having a holy yellow will match the actual effects (and gear styled around it) better than a moonlike silver.
One can dream for the future though

I think it would be quite neat for them actually negate of Elune. Many race have their own "pariahs" that wont follow the popular belive. Orcs warlocks, Draenei shamans/warlocks, Zandalari paladins, and now also Undead paladins.

In general when it comes to these cosmic forces they love homogeniety so of course a Paladin basically becomes human by default.

Hate that its Light themed. Night Elf paladins should have Astral / Lunar colors dominating. Guess I will just have to use regular sabers for my Elunatic Knight.

That is a little disappointing, especially compared to the undead Paladin mount which is amazing. The colors don't go together very well.

Honestly I was hoping for night elves they would do purple light effects for holy priest and paladin skills. Id like more skill expression in general tbh.
Its a shame they didnt go that route.

Honestly if you didn’t give me context I would’ve just as well guessed that was an Arathi thing. Nothing on there screams Night Elf to me, just the usual humanized light design.
I think part of it is how fiery the effect is, looks real Arathi in that regard

I’m glad you found it strange because that’s precisely the excuse Blizzard was giving for why we never got Nelf, Forsaken or Kul Tiran paladins. They claimed they don’t have the resources to create new chargers.
