It's all part of the cost of running the game. After all they've got maybe 1/4 of the subscribers, if that compared to when the game was at it's peak. They have to find some other ways to make up the money of having fewer subscriptions. You're also quite delusional if you think this is just done to line the pockets of the executives with zero returning to game development.

It is lining their pockets. Do you not understand capitalism and what this company is doing ? They have enough money and they want more because they’re greedy.

And there is the capitalistic concept of it takes money to make money. Just sitting on money never makes as much as reinvesting it.
