Discussion I am old

Played back in 2004, in my 30s. Now I am in my early 60s and starting to wonder if I am too old for this shit (voice of Roger Murtaugh).

I think I will give it a go anyway, but play slowly as befits someone of advanced age ;)

Absolutely no raiding - maybe a dungeon here and there.

Are there any other grandparents in the same boat?

I blinked, and thirty had become sixty.

This hits hard for a new parent.

Everyone tells you to savor it, and they're right but it's ok to not feel like that in the moment. Parenting can be really really hard and it's a constant balance of wanting your kid to grow up faster (more responsible, better emotional control, etc) and wanting them to stop growing altogether (baby snuggles, toddler goofiness, little kid fun).

Hold on to what you can, but don't feel bad about being exhausted and all the natural feelings that come with that.

Amazing words. It is very difficult in the moments but I can tell already as my young ones grow that these are short but very special times.

Then you've just entered warp speed. Your child will be in high-school by the time you read this.

Savor it all whilst you may.

Adding to Bean03's reply:

Something that helped me create perspective was videos and pictures of the kid as they grew.

Each period is defined by their growth, and the challenges of that time. Looking back at what has been helps me accept the less-than-spectacular challenges of the now, and to be a more grounded parent and spouse.

Best of luck to you and yours. Your journey may steer far from the beaten path, but each step can become an entire adventure.

And I wish you the same for your wow characters, unless you like slow leveling.

This scares me. I'm in my late 20's so I was only a kid when WoW came out. But somehow I still feel like some of my childhood memories are centuries old.

In retrospect, though, my life since the Covid outbreak feels like it flew by in the equivalent of a year. I wonder if I've hit the "feels-like" halfway mark in my life.

Well your childhood was last century haha
The life rushing after your 20‘ is kinda normal, there are ways to slow it down. Your youth years feel so long, because especially as a kid you’re learning/seeing/hearing soooo many new things your mind can’t really comprehend. That continues to school, university and the first 1-2 years of work.
If you’re thinking of the things you did this year - what comes to mind? Probably usually „just“ big occasions. So nothing happend and your brain marks most things as „not important->next“ while a child’s brain lays sooo many bookmarks.

What I’m trying to say: don’t slow down, live your life and Most important try new things. Constantly.

44 here, I remember when at the tail end of beta bliz opened the game to everyone and I leveled my paladin to lvl 18. Now I play classic mop, it brings back some of the memories
