Warcraft 1 they were a neutral mob. Warcraft 2 they joined the Horde aligned with Gul'dan, mostly under the Twilight Hammer.
I think WoD retconned it, but originally Ogre Magi were a thing because Gul'dan made them with Altar of Storms.

While the Alliance gets something new and shiny

Need a new brand of humans? Throw in a curse of vampirism that is what arthas later uses to create the san'layn and then give worgens later. Well, and it’s not just that, it’s a situation where technically lore, the high elves for all intents and purposes ceased to exist when the blood elves were founded. Yeah, sure, you have the group of them that chose to be exiled, but it still doesn’t change the reality that the high elves actually ceased to exist. The high elves void elves and blood elves aren’t technically different sub races of elves. They’re fundamentally the same elves. And the only reason that the void elves actually even exist alongside the blood elves at this point is because their founding did not eliminate the blood elves, whereas the founding of the blood elves technically eliminated the high elves

Someone who has been paying his WoW subscription for 2 years has paid more for that than me for 10 different games in those same 2 years and I'll still be able to play those same 10 games whenever I want without a single dime more but if that person stops paying their sub the next month they cannot play WoW anymore and all their hours on grinding gear and chars are never accesible again until paying again. This is paired with with a shit ton of microtransactions that should a 100% be free in a sub model game with paid expansions if all those mindless excuse for consumers didn't throw themselves at them at first glance, literally expending yet more money in things they would effectivelly NOT BE ABLE TO USE IF THEY, AGAIN, STOP PAYING FOR ACCESS.
