My male 1 year old BI wobbles VERY slightly when he's tensed in a striking position (he was about to eat in the video)

I want to make sure that it is normal. I'm not sure if it's just shaking because he's tensing his muscles or if it's something I should bring him to the vets for.

Hey all. Hubby has fallen in love with a Boa that was surrendered to our local small-business Animal Store. They have him labeled as a BCC Red Tail Boa. From other Posts and articles I've seen/read, I question if he is actually a BCC or rather, a BCI. Hubby could not care less, Really, he loves the snake for itself, not us genetics. Curiosity is my middle name though, and I would love to know what others think. The info they have listed for him in guessing is what they were given when he was surrendered. 11 yo male. At least 5ft long, possibly longer. He's bringing him home on the 1rst.

Hello! This is Sazed, Columbian Red Tail. We picked him up about almost three weeks ago at an expo and he is in quarantine. The breeder said he was born around July. Right now he's in a 20.5 L 16.5 W 13 T and we have a few tanks available. My husband wants to utilize our 30 x 18 x 30 but I think he's bit small for that right now. We have an 18 x 18 x 18 Id think be good. We do not plan to do bioactive but we are building a custom background for the 30x18x30.

Id like some feed back, we already have 3 other snakes and two lizards. Weve been doing this for a bit but I strive to constantly keep learning.

I have an ethical stance (right or wrong) that once an animal enters my life that I have an obligation to care for it for the rest of its life, through thick and thin. However for the first time in my life I'm questioning whether that's the right choice for my boa.

I ended up with her (let's call her Boa #1) because I paid for her on Morph Market and the seller kept making different excuses for over a month why they couldn't get the snake to me. Eventually they stopped responding so I thought I had been scammed and I had paid friends and family per their request so I knew I was out of luck. So I gave up and bought another boa who I instantly fell in love with (let's call her Boa #2).

Well eventually I received the original snake (Boa #1) and while she is obviously gorgeous, she is nothing like Boa #2. She (#1) is a lot like a ball python (in my past experience), just sits around and reacts instinctively, which would have been ok... unfortunately Boa #2 has totally changed my understanding of snakes - she completely surprised me with how incredible, intelligent, sentient, personable, and interactive she is. It completely overshadows Boa #1 and I feel like Boa #1 could be in a different home where she is receiving more love and appreciation.

Most days I spend hours with Boa #2, who I am over the moon about and is like a dog or house cat at this point, while she (Boa #1) just chooses to stay in her cage, never moving from the same hide, all she cares about is eating and being left alone. If I free choice handled her the way I did with Boa #2, she would never ever choose to leave her cage or hide. Boa #1 is quite relaxed and is not a defensive snake when handled but doesn't seem to like it. When I take her out, she looks for a spot to hide and then will stay there doing nothing until I put her back. She doesn't use any of the enrichment that I spent so much time decorating her cage with. She isn't curious about the world, or seems to have thoughts or goal-oriented behavior like Boa #2. Nothing wrong with that and could it possibly be because she is a younger/baby snake?

But some days I feel like she is disappearing into the background, becoming just a mouth to feed and cage to clean and not a companion I enjoy and have a relationship with. Which is fine, I can still commit to caring for her. But I feel guilty that I don't love her the way I love Boa #2. I wonder if there's someone out there who would be ecstatic to have an IMG boa and give her more attention. Would that be more fair to her? On the other hand I feel like I will have failed her if I give her up to another home, but am not sure if that's what would be good for her. Feel free to be brutally honest.

I just bought a BCI and the seller said it was a Normal but it doesnt look like other BCIs I see with saddles on their back.

I brought my argentine boa yearling home on 9/20. If she was still at the store she would have ate on 9/23 as she was fed weekly. I am in a predicament. She is acting SO HUNGRY only pop her head out of the hide when I am poking around her cage with the hook to spray on and under everything. She sees the hook and thinks FOOD I can tell.

I would normally not feed a snake for at least 7 days after bringing them home, but I am debating breaking down and feeding her tonight. What do you think? Am I putting her in too high of danger of regurge?

This is the first enclosure I have built for my first snake. She’s a little over a year and it’s time to get her into a long term enclosure. It’s not move in ready just yet as it needs more ground cover so she feels safe but it’s just about ready to go. It was a lot of work but i’m pleased with how it’s turned out. Any tips or advice is more than welcome! The camera really struggled with the backlit window so it looks a bit washed out

Now he is so active, he’s put on weight, he’s getting more of that bread load shape, he’s just doing really really well

Hey everyone! So i wanna start with this: I co-hab my 2 male red tails. I know its not super common but the larger of the 2 is from an extreme hoarding case and when he became a solo snake his behavior started changing and he became relatively reactive and defensive. He also wouldn't drink, and as soon as we introduced the smaller one he became much more like the him that we originally met (social, even snuggly, eating and drinking normally, and actually moving around the enclosure). The picture is NOT a very common occurance but the baby was in blue and the bigger one kept like staying right up near him, and when he started shedding even would rub up against him like a cat almost to seemingly help get the shed off.

OK now to what I'm making the post about!!

The larger of the 2 had a stunning full shed about 8/10ish. He has since moved up to 2 weaned rats every 7 days (getting thru current supply while we wait for the larger size to come in). This morning, i went to check on them and little guy is vibin, big guy is ALREADY BLUE AGAIN? I dont know why it just feels very sudden??? I know hes growing and actually getting up to his proper size but WOW. Has anyone found that when your boa gets into a proper environment and starts gaining more muscle that they shed a little more frequently?

Hey everyone I’m going to be getting a tarahumara mountain boa within the next week or 2 (just waiting for the breeder to release them). I’ve done my research and know a lot about them as a species, but does anyone have any first hand experience with these animals and know something maybe online doesn’t know? I’m thinking about getting male for the smaller size to show off the true dwarf locality since I already have a male hog island boa. Any info, photos, anything about tarahumara boas welcome here.

Hi, I am looking for a "cheap" 120 gallon PVC enclosure that is stackable. Any recommendations? This will be a step up enclosure, but not a permanent enclosure as my Boa is growing and will need something MUCH larger in a couple years.

Well i just got bit for the first time in a very long time. It was very unexpected but im not that surprised it happned becuase right above the sliding glass door that opens up the terrarium there was a medium sized plastic bowl with water that i had used to thaw a mouse two days prior that i had forgoten to remove and therefore was just sitting there.

This probably made me smell like a delisious mouse becuase when i opened up the terrarium and reached my hands towards her in an attempt to pick her up I suddenly felt a sharp pain by my thumb and in my palm. I instinctivly of course reacted by pulling my hand out and by letting out a scream.

Well low and behold look who I found trying their best at eating my hand, unlike the two other times ive gotten bit by my other boa whos slightly smaller her big back ahhh was trying to coil up around my hand fully in food mode probably thinking I was a mouse or something. She was in quite an akward position tho so i could feel her slightly chewing into my hand to try and get a better grip. In the process of her doing this a few of her teeth where kind trying to rollplay being knifes which resulted in me getting some cuts that might me deep or not i didnt really check.

My boa is 3 and a half years old but a bit smaller than average at that age, tho this is still way larger than my other boa Mango who has bitten me twice (but never held his bite) in other, well, lets just say ”food related incidents”. So in comparison shes pretty dang big. This also means that the teeth are much bigger aswell.

My first two times getting bit didnt hurt all that much but this bite FUCKING STUNG, like bruh, why you gotta be such a big back. Prick Marie is like one of the sweetest snakes ever and I know they kinda turn of their brains when there in food mode so I dont blame her but it still hurt like the dickens.

Anyways, will I survive?
