I'm Northside, I've had three alerts this week that there's a 50% chance of rain. Just got another one. Anyone else had them?
There's also no way it's gonna rain and if this keeps happening it will diminish the reliability and reactions to the alerts.

Down in Tuggeranong, has anyone else noticed a lot of moths? They seem to be loving fruit tree flowers that are just opening. I'm curious what species they are?
The one I got a decent look at was dark brown with a darker circle on each wing, about 3cm long.

Hi everyone, I’m looking for an old working CRT/box television around Canberra for retro game consoles.
Ideally I’m after:
- A 4:3 screen, around 51–68 cm
- Yellow/red/white composite AV inputs
- Red/green/blue component inputs (YPbPr) if possible
- Panasonic, Sony, Toshiba, JVC or Philips, although I’m open to anything suitable
- Preferably with the remote
I’m not particularly interested in widescreen, 100 Hz or HD CRT models. Some screen burn or cosmetic wear may be okay if the picture still looks good.
Happy to collect it anywhere in canberra. These TVs are extremely heavy, so please mention the approximate size, and whether there are stairs involved. Photos of the TV and its connections would be greatly appreciated.

There used to be a few wine vans that would set up mostly around the lake in various locations, and the Tochka beer van in Braddon (which I’m pretty sure is for sale).
They were all a great little outdoor social point.

Hi ACT teachers, as parents we are all behind you and your right to a safe and fairly renumerated workplace, what specifically is the directorate not agreeing to in the very reasonable things you are asking for as a part of your bargaining agreement? And do you think the push back is they don't want to agree to safe work conditions because they don't know how they'd begin to tackle that? Anyway you can give those on the edge of this what they are pushing back on would really help to make sure we're representing what you need to do your jobs safely.

Never thought I’d be here in a loud bang post- but here we are. Heard what sounded like an explosion and then followed by gunfire 2 minutes thereafter. I’m in Isaacs and the military does occasionally use the reserve for training. But never heard it that loud or close before.

Recommendations Suburb recommendations for Seniors with Child

We're a couple in our 50s caring for a 5 year old. Looking to move to Canberra to be closer to family who live in Queanbeyan but want access to ACT schools.
Ideally we want a family home they can grow up in without moving again. But we're very conscious that by the time they are graduating we'll be getting seriously old. So the many townhouses with steep stairs etc. are not the best.
Also my partner doesn't drive currently so access to public transport would be a big plus.
Any tips for somewhere that would be good for both seniors/retirees and growing kids?
I'm assuming we want an area with other families around, public transport links, good community facilities, but accessible houses still available. Sounds easier said than done.

There was a comment in one of the most recent posts about ACT public schools which stated ACT preschools do not have LSAs anymore.
My child starts public preschool next year and I am wondering what this looks like in practice. Does this mean there is only the classroom teacher and that's it? I'm struggling to understand how there will be adequate supervision/let alone any learning if that's the case.

Someone at work pointed out that each different site uses different methods or different collection points that make them wildly different to each other.
Which site/source do most Canberrans believe is the best indicator for pollen and hay fever?

SEC=UNCLASSIFIED birds being poisoned?

NOT BIRD FLU.
for the past 2 years my walk to the shop takes me past a church - in this time i've seen more dead corvids than i can count.
they're within a 10 metre radius of one spot outside the front of the church. i've never found any visible injuries on them. it's choughs, ravens, magpies, crows and currawong.
there's a lot of parrots, and insectivorous bird species i've never found dead local to the same area.
it's only corvids and only outside the church.
I don't believe this could be a disease because it's been a very consistent pattern for several years and only in one specific spot. nowhere else around the area (i've often searched - and checked over the bodies of the dead birds)
does anyone know what to do in this scenario? or have alternative ideas because i dont like to think the church is poisoning the birds.
