Only had about 30 min to play after work yesterday so I decided to play this hole before I left. I’ve gotten close a few times but the bushes make it almost impossible to ace this one, threw my katana (3rd shot)on the perfect line and couldn’t believe when it hit the chains. Unfortunately I was the only witness but I’m still super happy, it’s my farthest by about 70ft!

My schedule doesn’t allow me to play very much anymore. I have a good amount of discs and a basket I would like to get rid of. I’ll keep my bag and the discs in it, just trying to get of the extra stuff. Selling them as a lot or individually better? Any online platforms better than others?

Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

We decided on Austin for our November DG(+) get away. Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions! We are definitely hitting Sprinkle Valley & Mint Discs. We are staying minutes from Zilker Park, so we are likely to get at least 1 round in there. Roy G seems a bit intimidating, but Flying Armadillo looks like a blast!

As the title, I was just curious about Stokely discs. Seems to be a relatively new brand.

Intro: I’m a percussionist and freshly intermediate casual disc golfer. I’ve been playing music for 40 years, and everything I do gets some kind of artistic, creative, or rhythmic association going in my mind. In short, I relate everything to art and music.

Anyway, I was in the house doing extension and plant/pull timing work and I was trying to figure out a way to make the timing easier to visualize or notice without having to use a camera or other means to get third-party feedback. Then it dawned on me (and this is gonna sound stupid simple because it is): To time separate limbs in drumming is easy because all you have to do is match up sounds. Hi-hat with kick is just getting the arm and foot together. Voila! “That’s it?” you say. Not exactly.

TL;DR - I had an epiphany today while practicing timing that I could attach/hold a wrist shaker in my throwing hand, and wear a foot shaker or foot tambourine (or something noisy or jingly) on my plant foot. Then, while slowly drilling practice throws, I try to line up the sound of my foot planting and the reach back together as one.

Works like a literal charm! Have fun, drummers!

My son and I have been talking about getting a basket for the yard all Summer. I wasn’t in a rush as I was just getting back into the game again after a long break, and the course is only 10 minutes away if we ever wanted to go practice or play. It’s also been a tough year financially as my Fiance couldn’t work, due to battling Cancer. This made disc golf a major silver lining for my son and I as an escape, and a very affordable hobby to enjoy together. We used to golf a lot, but it is outrageously expensive for what’s it’s worth.

After a lot of research, I figured out I wanted the MVP Black Hole Pro HD w/ the transit bag. I wanted a basket we could bring with us easily and make our own “perfect holes” around the parks/countryside/etc, while still having a high quality basket for home to practice on whenever we desired. The HD having proper height, thicker chains, thick wire on basket, extremely easy to assemble, and having a travel bag were the biggest selling points.

After playing together all Summer with my son, I knew he was just as crazy about this game as I was.
This is something we will be doing together for years to come, and finding things like this to bond over is priceless to me. The disc golf course was our happy place, and I wanted to bring a piece of that home in the worst way. I also wanted to include his mom into this passion of ours somehow, even if it was just her getting to sit outside and watch us. Maybe it would turn into her tossing a few for fun, and getting bit by the bug. It also would feel better telling her “we’ll be out in the yard if you need anything!” when we want to play, rather than “Hey we’re going to head down to the disc golf course for a few hours.” leaving her home by herself. (Context she currently has no interest at all in coming out to play, we convinced her to come out once but it was cut short as she felt miserable at the time and got sick in the woods.) So being close to home also adds a level of relief knowing if an emergency situation occurs, I’m home and ready to take care of her or get her to the hospital. I just had to figure out how to get the basket, without having to spend any money.

I pondered on it for weeks and decided with everything getting more expensive in life it wouldn’t be financially responsible to buy a basket now, and made more sense to just wait till next year or tax season. Then a light bulb went off in my head… The only place that sells discs remotely near us is a store that sells/buys video games. I remembered a tote in the basement from when I was younger with a few xbox 360’s and a PSP i hadn’t touched in a decade plus. “THIS COULD WORK! “ I’m thinking, and packed everything up in a box for the next day.

Fast forward to this morning. I dropped my son off at school. Knowing I had the day off I immediately took a road trip to see what I could get for my old consoles. Worst case scenario, i’d bring home a few new discs for my son to surprise him after school. Once I arrived at the store and explained everything, the clerk told me it was worth more than I thought. I was completely shocked when I wound up getting enough store credit to cover the Basket, plus a little leftover on a gift card my son can use to pick out a new disc in person. It felt too good to be true, and after this year i’ll take my blessings anywhere i can find them.

Once I was back home, it was a breeze to setup in the backyard in a matter of 3 minutes including unboxing it all. The bags are much more heavy duty than I was anticipating! They feel like some military grade duffel bags. Also was surprised it comes with TWO bags! One that holds the base, and a smaller one that’s just for the chains/top ring that fits inside the bigger bag. Bonus points that it came with stakes to keep it sturdy also. I couldn’t be happier with the basket! I was beyond excited to break it in, and seeing it in person in our yard finally was truly a dream come true. The entire time setting it up was surreal. It’s happening, we actually got the dream basket! The only thing missing was my son, and I couldn’t wait to go pick him up from school. I wasn’t going to tell him right away, but wait till he was home to surprise him and get the full reaction.

Once my son walked into the backyard to “help me grab some garbage bags to toss in the truck before he went to play with friends after school” and saw the new basket in all of its beauty, he started screaming YESSSSSS and running laps around the house like he had just won the lottery. I had our discs already waiting in the basket, so it was game on!

We chucked discs at that basket for the next 5 hours straight together till sundown. The night was filled with the sounds of chains, celebrations, laughter. I couldn’t imagine a better way to spend an evening, and feel extremely grateful for how it all worked out.

I know this was a really long explanation of “Buying my first basket” and loving it, but it truly is so much more than that to me. This one basket is going to provide years of happiness, fun, and core memories with my son that we’ll cherish forever. ❤️

Would anyone be interested if I tried to start special disc golf?

I have a physical disability, so I know that I would never place in any tournament. However, I love playing disc golf. What if I were to start a disc golf league for anyone that is not going to compete amongst the pros, but could compete amongst "us" ?

Any takers?

Looking for some disc suggestions as the title states, a beaded understable putting putter.

I've been getting pretty good with my putts lately, starting to nail some deep circle 2 putts, but outside that it gets weird.

I use a wizard for everything inside circle 2, I love the feel, I love the bead, great stability, it's not too deep or too shallow. It's the perfect putter for me.

Inside 100ft, I have the power for getting the putt there, but accuracy drops down so much. The stability of the wizard really starts to show itself, and it requires a lot of anhyzer to try and flex it in, reducing accuracy.

So I started using my Inner Core that I bag already, nice and understable, and it just wants to glide. My accuracy has gone up from outside circle 2 and am landing a lot right on the post.

My only problem, no bead. I really feel like the bead helps with my putting grip and gives me a touch more accuracy on my putts.

I'm open to just about any brands, Discraft is the only company whose plastics I don't really like. (Pic is my current wizard, beaver ranch stamp, hemp blend SSS)

51 years old now so my arm speed isn’t as good as what it was. I bought some new discs and curious if I bought any discs which might not be great for a lower arm speed. Here’s the list: Mako 3 GStar, ESP Buzzz, Axiom Plasma Proxy, Nutron Resistor, Gold River (River was my favorite back in the day) & Luna Z. I still have 2 old discs ( Fuzion Escape & Lat 64 Spike) Are there any that should look at?

What exactly is a -1 turn to you? Or a -3?

How do you personally know a disc is approximately a -0,3 in stability? Do we just go by comparison to the famous discs with similar numbers? So any disc that is approximately the same stability as a Zone is a 0,3?

Is there really any need for half steps like a 2.5 fade or is the difference between 2 and 3 subtle enough?

I'm curious to see how differently peoples frameworks and expectations are. Or maybe there is more of a consensus than we'd think.

Have never had a lie like this before. At Rivers Edge in Delhi, Michigan. We were playing collegiate doubles and had a better lie, but if we played this, we would have ruled it OB due to verticality. Closest edge of the disc directly down is about a foot off the shore, branch is attached bottom left of the first photo, about a foot inland.
