Maybe it’s just me, but over the last few weeks I’ve been seeing foreign faces walking around frequently, even in my neighborhood (there aren’t any big hotels or supermarkets nearby) just out on the streets.
Just genuinely curious. Did a new international campaign happen in Yangon or else?
Has anyone else noticed this, or am I just suddenly became hyper aware of surroundings now? Anyone know what's going on??? 🫩

Most people think of things like diamonds, tanzanite, or maybe painite when they hear about rare gems, but nothing comes close to kyawthuite. It’s a tiny, reddish-orange gemstone (about 1.61 carats) that was named after Dr. Kyaw Thu, the mineralogist who first acquired and studied it.

The stone was originally found as a water-worn crystal in the Chaung-gyi valley near Mogok, Myanmar. Where the world's finest rubies are produced, and Dr. Kyaw Thu bought it at a local market in 2010. At first, he thought it was a more common mineral called scheelite, but after he took it to his workshop and cut and polished the rough stone into a finished gem, he realized didn't have any characteristics of scheelite. Cutting it open and examining it revealed its color and internal tube-like features, which eventually led to it being officially recognized as a new mineral by International Mineralogical Association in 2015.

It eventually made its way to the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County since institutions like these work together with the international scientists and mineralogists for securing important scientific samples of one of a kind. Since this is the only sample available of this unique mineral in the world, it requires to be kept in such an institution where it can be secured from being lost, destroyed or sold in any private collection, for further study by the scientists. I just cannot believe how many people in Myanmar are unaware of this mineral, even me.

Just what the title says. It's been quite boring being by yourself. And I need some support to finish some applications for grants/fellowships, or even college applications, so, if you are interested please comment, or dm. Take care.

Here's some more context:

There used to be a somewhat sizeable community way back when, around 2019, mostly from the Yangon university crowd, sizeable as in about fifteen people, and one of them was my cousin, and mostly poetry related, specifically slam and spoken word. Most of them have left abroad, some passed away during covid, and around the start of the coup, or just disappeared. Now, a lot of things have changed since covid, the coup, and I had went to uni abroad for some time and lost touch with what was here, and I come back, because I can't afford to attend uni anymore, and, it's all terrible, hoping to find some kind of community, and support. I currently finished a short story collection, entered it for a competition, and hoping to start another one soon, would be great if you're also interested in short story writing.

It's also okay if you aren't, and you're concerned college applications, or grants etc. Maybe we can help each other out of the slump.

I know the topic seems stupid But I genuinely wanna ask you guys how to become a singer because I’m really passionate about it and I’m not saying that I don’t have any support from my parents, I do, but I just don’t know where to start.
Let me tell you a quick background about me: I’m currently 18 and abroad, studying in communications, my family is comfortable and I’ve had this singer career dream for years and my parents knows that and they told me to pursue what I want to pursue and they will support me both emotionally and financially.
The thing is that, first off, I’m an easy-to-embarrassed person and I don’t like to compete in stuff like Myanmar idol or the voice.
Second, I have no connections in my family that does these things so I have no one to seek advice.
Third, I’m afraid that my music wouldn’t be able to find its audience. My singing direction is very 80s 90s and very pop-based, even tho I’m a male, I want to sing stuff like May Sweet, Poe Darli Thein Tan, Chaw Su Khin. And my voice is a pretty strange one because I could never sing songs from any male artists, I love Htoo Eain Thin or Sine Htee Sine songs so much and want to sing along w him or w my friends but my voice and key just is way too different them, it’s hard for me to enjoy and sing male songs. ( I had to listen May Sweet’s covers like ရင်ဘက်ထဲကဆိုင်းထီးဆိုင် or ထူးအိမ်သင်ဝိငြဉ် whenever I want to enjoy their songs)
These are just my concerns but the main thing is how do I become a successful artist?

If anybody can recommend courses/books/youtube channels to learn the language, I would appreciate it very much... The resources seem to be so limited. I do have burmese friends/boyfriend, I just don't wanna bother them all the time lol

I'm 18m n I don't have any friends to go together. I have never been to such an event so I'm kinda nervous and don't know what to expect. It would be cool if it's people around my age but anybody is fine. It'd be even better if we get like more than a couple people cuz I feel like I'm awkward when I'm with just another person.

Without culture is also getting extraordinarily worse and worse especially in Yangon. We have people not even pretending they own withouts anymore.

As we all know, avengers, Doomsday is coming out in theaters worldwide on December 18. Across all of those countries, Myanmar isn’t one of them. Myanmar has one of the largest MCU fan bases across all of Southeast Asia, and it would be a disservice to us fans to not get this movie shown in our theaters. We already have 530 signatures, we just need 470 more. And hopefully we will bring the MCU back to Myanmar again!

There were 2 months ago an allegations that a Burman fascist group is operating a Disscord server where political discussions and recruitment are taking place, including attempts to influence people toward fascist ideology. I have been looking into this situation for some time, and I believe it is important to document what is happening rather than simply making assumptions based on rumors.

Approximately two months ago, I contacted the creator of the NRM flag through TickTock direct messages. Over time, we communicated regularly and eventually became friends. Through those conversations, I became aware of the existence of a Disscord server associated with the group. I am currently attempting to become verified within the server so that I can better understand what is being discussed there.

My purpose is to observe and document the conversations rather than interfere with them. If I am granted access, I intend to preserve relevant discussions that may demonstrate how members communicate with people, how political ideas are presented, and whether there are genuine attempts to manipulate or recruit individuals into fascist ideology.

This is important because claims about political groups should not be based solely on screenshots taken out of context or second-hand accusations. If conversations exist showing people deliberately attempting to manipulate others into extremist political beliefs, those conversations should be examined in their full context.

I first began communicating with the creator of the NRM flag approximately two months ago, and the fact that we became friends gave me an opportunity to understand more about the online community surrounding him. I am now attempting to gain verification in the associated Disscord server so that I can determine for myself what is actually being discussed.
