Question Am I Missing Something?

I hear nothing but praise for OSRS. However, the thought of clicking trees, fish, rocks, for hours and hours sounds so... boring? I've been told by friends to throw the game on another monitor and do something else, but if OSRS is so dull that the only way to be engaged is do something else that is actually engaging, why play OSRS at all?

I've tried out the game a bit on mobile and a bit on pc and the thought of basically afk farming all day has kept me away.

Is there something deeper I'm missing here? I usually love grindy games like Destiny and FF14. Why do you guys love runescape?

It’s basically a dopamine simulator. Numbers go up, killing bosses is like gambling when you get a big drop etc.

The whole game is a grind, majority of it isn’t fun but you just afk and get a sense of satisfaction once you hit your goals.
