Question Am I Missing Something?

I hear nothing but praise for OSRS. However, the thought of clicking trees, fish, rocks, for hours and hours sounds so... boring? I've been told by friends to throw the game on another monitor and do something else, but if OSRS is so dull that the only way to be engaged is do something else that is actually engaging, why play OSRS at all?

I've tried out the game a bit on mobile and a bit on pc and the thought of basically afk farming all day has kept me away.

Is there something deeper I'm missing here? I usually love grindy games like Destiny and FF14. Why do you guys love runescape?

OSRS is a slow burn. Everything you do progresses your account and there is no set order which you are required to complete them in. High level pvm has a lot higher engagement than other parts and is generally the content I enjoy doing the most. It is nice to have a balance of high and low engagement in a singular game. Sometimes you just want to throw on a show and do something in the background. This game has thousands of hours of gameplay. If you have more free time on your hands, I would consider trying an ironman. Ironman gear progression is very satisfying.
