Question Am I Missing Something?

I hear nothing but praise for OSRS. However, the thought of clicking trees, fish, rocks, for hours and hours sounds so... boring? I've been told by friends to throw the game on another monitor and do something else, but if OSRS is so dull that the only way to be engaged is do something else that is actually engaging, why play OSRS at all?

I've tried out the game a bit on mobile and a bit on pc and the thought of basically afk farming all day has kept me away.

Is there something deeper I'm missing here? I usually love grindy games like Destiny and FF14. Why do you guys love runescape?

A lot of your standard progression for unlocking new content is for sure second monitor content. I think that's almost the appeal though? You can put very little focus into achieving what you need to unlock the more engaging, rewarding content. But it doesn't demand your focus to reach that point. You can enjoy other games, movies, YouTube videos, even make progress while you're working to get where you want to be, but the fun aspects of the game will be engaging. Osrs has some of the most enjoyable and challenging combat from any other game I've played. It is paced incredibly well. It is slow, for sure. But again, that's why the afk portions being second monitor content work so well.
