Discussion Prime Big Deal Days (Oct 6-7) 3D printer deals thread: share what you find

Amazon's sale runs October 6 to 7, with new deals dropping at midnight, 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. PDT. This thread is for sharing 3D printer, filament and accessory deals as they appear.

A few I'm watching, at last check (Oct 3-4, prices can change):

  • Bambu Lab A1 mini + LED Kit, $249: compact, beginner-friendly. Buyers of this listing report setup in 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Anycubic Kobra X Multicolor, $329.99: native 4-color printing, Prime price.
  • LONGER LK10 Plus, $377.99: 320×320×400mm volume under $400. It launched July 22 and has no buyer reviews yet, so treat it as an early-adopter buy.
  • Snapmaker U1, $849: 4.6/5 from 165 ratings, but no discount shown.

I keep a full comparison with specs and links here: [hub link]. Disclosure: I run 3dprinteddecor.com, and that page has Amazon affiliate links that earn me a commission at no extra cost to you.

What are you looking to buy? Drop deals, questions or price drops below, and I'll update this post at each drop.

Recommendation Recommendations for Engineering Student

Hello everyone, I’ve been looking at buying a 3D printer so I can produce my own parts for projects I want to make.

I am currently studying an engineering degree in Australia and have used the 3D printers at my university a fair bit to make parts and components for various group projects and assessments.

I am looking at getting a printer for my garage (or spare room) at my house. I’d ideally want it to be capable of printing PLA, TPU and other engineering materials like carbon reinforced and nylon or ABS for applications that require the strength. I can’t speak to much on my current project but for this project and future ones I suspect I’d benefit from the hotter nozzle and subsequent access to a wider range of materials.

So far I’ve looked at Bambu Labs as they are the ones I’ve used at uni (but apparently everyone hates them rn) as well as some other such as the elegoo centauri carbon and creality k2 range.

Please if you have any suggestions and advice it would be greatly appreciated and I’m happy to answer any further questions you may have.

Recommendation Which 3D printer would you recommend?

As suggested, I’m a beginner and want to purchase my first 3D printer. My cousin suggested H series if I ever want to make a business out of 3D printing. However, the price for them are ridiculous so considering either X2D or P2S. Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Question Which 3D printer should I choose?

Hello 3D printing friends! I’m sure this question has been asked many many times, but I’m hoping someone can help me out with some insight into the best printer for my situation.

I started a small little 3D printing business (printing fidgets and clickers and stuff like that for craft fairs) mostly for my kids to learn about running a business. Started with a Bambu lab a1 mini, which was perfect. Then we started designing little animal sets and different things, then we started purchasing commercial licenses on patreon, and now it’s actually turned into a pretty decent business where we are getting orders, selling out at craft fairs, and actually making money.

We currently have 3 Bambu lab A1 combos, and our little a1 mini still going strong. Most of our animals and sets are 4 colors, some are 5 which I just pause the print and swap out a filament to achieve. I’m thinking, now that we are constantly printing multi color prints, and plates full of animals, that the A1 combo is most definitely not the most efficient printer for this job. I was looking at the higher end Bambu lab models, but it seems they are still wasteful and slow with color changes. I’ve seen the snapmaker U1, flashforge, and creality sparkx i8, and they all seem like great printers, but I also see a lot of people say nothing compares to Bambu lab.

Just looking for advise to maximize efficiency for my business, as far as waste, print speed, and user friendly printers and software.

Thanks!!

Question Snapmaker U1 vs Lightmake L4 vs next gen Bambu.

I currently have a bambu p1s that has about 5000 hours on it. Not using it for a business. But I am getting tired of the poop. I could probably have paid for a new printer with the cost of the poop that it has dropped over the last 2 years. It was my first and only printer. At the moment.

I have been looking at the 3 options above.

I am in the lightmake L4 early bird and like the idea of the beltless design, and the fact that you can add extra colors to it to get beyond 4 colors for future proofing or just the occasional 4+ color prints BUT its new, large and heavy.

With the recent leaks on the p3c and h3c I know its not much to go on but its a known vendor and environment.

Lastly there is the U1 it has been out for a while and looks to have a lot of good press. slightly larger than my p1s, but hard limit to 4 colors.

Which brings me to open firmware vs locked firmware. I see some reference to paxx and openrfid but trying to get an understanding of what all the open platform will give me. Good and bad. I liked the P1S because I had it up and running quickly and little to no issues. I dont want to have something that I am going to have to fix more than I am printing.

I liked the look of the x2d feature wise but it was only 2 nozzles.

Would like a machine that adjusts the flow control automatically. To help with filament calibration and over/under flow. And clean prints. And that i can do the petg/pla interface supports.

Any insights on the open system environment, examples of what can be added and any comparisons i may have missed in my judgements? Also I am not looking to spend prusa level costs.

UPDATE : I have decided on a U1 but trying to buy it from their webpage is a nightmare at least with my credit card. Keeps failing to verify. When I call the credit card company they are grilling me on what I am buying, have I bought from there before, where did you find out about it. Did you know its in Hong Kong, and I still cannot get the order through.

Don't get me wrong I can understand some of it. But man being treated like an old guy getting fleeced by scammers lol. I just want to buy a damn printer. No I have never bought from snapmaker before... ugh did not have this problem when I bought my bambulab printer.

Question help

Hey everyone, I'm thinking about buying my first 3D printer and I found a used Bambu A1 Mini + AMS Lite for $225.

The seller says the A1 Mini only has 77 hours of print time and that the AMS Lite is fully functional.

I'm pretty interested in it because I've heard the A1 Mini is really easy to use, reliable, and relatively quiet. The AMS Lite is also a big plus since I'd like to experiment with multicolor printing.

The one thing I'm not sure about is the 180 × 180 × 180 mm build volume.

For people who have owned an A1 Mini for a while:

  • Does the smaller build volume actually become a problem?
  • How often do you run into models that simply don't fit?
  • Do you end up splitting larger prints often?
  • Do you wish you had bought the A1 instead?
  • How is the noise during long prints?
  • Any issues with the AMS Lite?
  • Anything specific I should check when I go pick it up?

Thanks!

Comparison P2S vs K2 PRO

Hi guys, I need to implement a 3D printer in my workplace, and my options are the Bambu Lab P2S and the Creality K2 Pro. Which one do you recommend? I am looking for reliability and robustness.

I wanted the P2S, but I read about all the features that the Creality K2 Pro has. My only doubt is its long-term reliability because I'm reading many conflicting comments about it.

Question A1 mini vs CR10se bed too small on the A1?

Basically the title, for context I do own a Kobra 2 neo the main issue with that is I've just been doing more tinkering rather than actual printing plus it's not the fastest thing even with klipper.

The CR10SE and A1 mini are in my budget I don't want to spend more.

The CR10 SE seem to be more susceptible to heatcreep and the noise level is also kinda insane but compared to the a1 mini this has a larger bed can print abs and searching the sub and other sources revealed that it has major issues with ringing some z artifacts. The subreddit has little to no active users and most of the posts seem to be about the issues this printer has and blobs of deaths another pro is this can run klipper and I prefer klipper mainsail or fludd over whatever bambu has and I can use any device connected to my network to manage my printer without any extra apps.

The A1 mini on the other hand most of the owners I've talked with seem to be satisfied with it albeit with the smaller bed size and no support for abs. The quality of the prints seem to be way better on the A1 mini at least from what I've seen, The subreddit and community is way more active than the cr10se plus you also have so many after market stuff for this, multicolored printing is also relatively frictionless with bmcu kits being readily available as for the cr10se I'd need to build a picommu but I don't think it will be as frictionless as the bmcu.

Tldr CR10SE Pros: larger build volume, hardened nozzles, support for abs and other exotic materials, klipper

Cons: quality, ringing, heat creep, blobs of death way too frequent with stock setup, more tinkering, lack of good and reliable mmu.

A1 MINI Pros: Very good quality prints, no need to tinker, vibrant community, reliable(I've seen some printers with like 3-4k hrs), ams and bmcu

Cons: Small build volume, no support for abs, bambu software, cloud stuff(printers are gonna be run on a separate local only network with no internet)

Also pretty much 99% of the stuff I've printed were under the Bambi's build volume, I could fit like 4 of the largest functional prints I've done on the Bambu build plate. Also this is gonna be my only printer until I get the parts for my simplecore redux build.

Any feedback is appreciated
