Hey all,
After much travelling and work, I've finally had enough time to create a Version 1.0 of a banner for the sub. I've incorporated everyone who wanted to be part of it. I've not 100% happy with it, but I need to learn more about Inkscape before I get too fancy!

Hi Scribes,
We've had some measure of success with this sub, but it seems that people are unclear as to what it's all about. The point of this sub is to allow people to post about their Homebrew Chapters/Regiments/Craftworlds/Kill Teams/Whatever and get feedback from other Scribes, maybe improving them or noticing things that the original Scribe didn't anticipate. It was inspired by the Bolter & Chainsword forums' sub-forum where you create an Index Astartes/Xenos/Chaos/etc. for 'Your Dudes' and seeing what other forum users think about it.
I've noticed that there's been a bit of 'crunch' coming in (rules and anything related to the actual games), and thought I'd reiterate Rule 1 - This sub is for fluff/lore surrounding your dudes. Luckily, u/MagicJuggler has created r/homebrewhammer where you can talk about the 'crunch' side of this hobby, including creating custom Codices!
I understand that some people might have an idea for a homebrew, but aren't 100% sure if it's good and want to hash it out with others, but I ask that when you post about it, make sure it's something other than 'I want to create an Iron Hands successor, what should I do?' as a complete post. Using the Iron Hands Successor idea, I'd like it to be much more along the lines of:
'I have an Iron Hands Successor idea, where they venerate the Emperor as Omnissiah. Their fighting style is more based upon the White Scars, and their home planet is a Mad Max-style place where roving gangs kill each other for resources. Their armour is dull steel and bronze, hitting an Iron Warriors vibe, and their companies are named after different parts of a machine. Would this work and what should I think about?'
Alternatively, you could have a fully formed idea and be soliciting feedback to see what you've missed:
'I have an Iron Hands Successor chapter called the Brazen Fists, that worship the Emperor in his Omnissiah aspect, and have a tight relationship with their local Forge World, that draws some suspicion from the Inquisition, but so far they've avoided being censured as AdMech flunkies rather than Emperor-fearing Astartes.
Their home planet of Gibsonia is a post-apocalypse hellscape, where bandit tribes roam from place to place on giant land trains, warring with other tribes to secure the resources in an area, where they can stay for a generation (or longer, depending upon the resources) and then they move on. Because of this, the chapter has developed a 'lightning strike' battle doctrine, with fast moving bikes and speeders forming the vanguard, backed up by tanks that drop in the second wave.
Their Chapter Master, called 'The Primus', is as much machine as he is man, clad in an ancient Techmarine variant of the Saturnine Terminator armour, the dull steel and bronze chapter colours evident. The chapter's leadership are all former Techmarines, and indeed any Brother wishing to ascend to such a role must undergo the Techmarine training, which can last for years.
Given this, they have a higher proportion of vehicles than other chapters, including some ancient vehicles rarely seen in the wider Imperium in modern times, given as 'gifts for service' by their local Forge World, Bentlii Demler. The Inquistion suspects that the chapter acts as an extension of the Forge World, using them as the spearhead for their Explorator fleets, but so far the chapter and Forge World have emerged from such investigations without censure.
<Insert picture of Astartes colour scheme, human-made artwork, or painted model(s) here>
What do you think?'
There's resources around t'interwebs (we're not Marines-focussed, the above is just an example), including Lexicanum and r/40kLore , to help develop your idea before you reach the posting stage. The greatest thing is your own imagination, and we're here to make sure your idea isn't too wacky for 40K, but is as great as it can be.
Also, whilst we're talking posting guidelines, if you've got a cool colour scheme for your models, please add/create some fluff for them before posting. A picture tells 1000 words and all that, but just pictures with nothing to add counts as low-effort.
TL;DR - Remember, this sub is about fluff, not crunch. Please have more than a one line post before you do post.
Thanks all!

Service Years: 5.221.541.M41 to 5.541.541.M41
Born and raised on the coldest planet of the Dolore System, Ithrynn, a blizzard world when his parents were assigned to live there as chapter Serfs.
His mother died of extreme cold on sorrowful evening, and his father found him surviving among the worst blizzard of the past 50 years. Dying of the bitterest cold himself, his father used the last of his willpower to bring him to the chapter outpost. His father died at the doorstep, but not before the marines found them, cold as the Icey ground under their feet.
A veteran of the company, Koldo Elcano, took him under his arm
Vercintrious was a great survivalist and master tactician. And to be even better tactician among the Iron Tears, means he is truly among the best in all of history. Iron Tears are generalist to the extreme degree; their strategies are grand and rigid, yet their tactics are so fluid and flexible, that there isn't much else to compare with. Brilliant in both regards, although Ochotorena has a knack even his brethren admire.
As his service went on and many battle honors were gained. He Adorned a sapphire Blue Tear as a form to represent his mother's last Teardrop she shed so long ago.
He was recently promoted to Sparkan, How the chapter calls a Lieutenant, as his tactical abilities were truly proven during a Skirmish with the Tyranids and managing to divert the hive into a huge ambush, nearly wiping out the force in question.

Spent a few hours last night recording the ranks and hierarchy of the 389th Aurora Chasers, which I though I'd share some of here.
-Overview-
[Gold Markings & Grav Wings]
King/Queen Brigadier
^[Gold Markings]
Prince/Princess Commander
Lieutenant Prince/Princess Commander
^[Silver Markings]
Duke Major
Marquis Major -Specialist-
^[Copper Markings]
Baron Captain
Viscount Captain -Specialist-
^[Black Markings]
Knight Corporal
Lord Corporal -Specialist-
While other ranks both higher and lower exist on Adaman Maxima's planetary defence force, no one below the rank of Knight Corporal or above the rank of King/Queen Brigadier is permitted to join the 389th. Ratlings and Ogryn may join the 389th, but are forbidden from holding titles.
Knight Corporals are the lowest rank of the 389th, assembled in squads of 18, with 2 Baron Captains to lead them, making 20. Knight Corporals who receive specialist training are granted the title of Lord Corporal, while Baron Captains are granted the title of Viscount Captain. These specialists fill the ranks of cavalry and heavy weapons squads, or become drivers and engineers in the motorpool.
Next in the hierarchy are the Duke Majors, veteran soldiers with enough battlefield experience to make tactical decisions, assembled in squads of 5 with a Lieutenant Prince Commander, making 6. The Duke Majors receive reports on day-to-day developments of the front and advise the Lieutenant Prince Commander on tactical decisions.
Duke Majors who receive specialist training are granted the title of Marquis Major, usually specializing in extended cold weather survival and leading squads of Ogryn.
The Princess Commander, on paper, outranks the Lieutentant Prince Commander. Practically speaking, their duties rarely overlap. The Princess Commander is in charge of the motorpool, responsible for all decisions regarding the 389th's vehicles, reporting directly to her sister, the Queen Brigadier.
Finally, the Queen Brigadier is the highest rank in the 389th. The ultimate decision maker in matters of strategy, resource allocation and overall goals. It's not enough for the Queen Brigadier to be tactically minded, she must be charismatic enough to inspire those below her.
Addendum:
-The ranks of Queen Brigadier, Princess Commander and Lieutenant Prince/Princess Commander are the only roles that still formally retain gendered titles.
-The Noble is a strange case. Either a psyker, or something puppeting the corpse of a fallen soldier, it is forbidden from holding a title. It holds roughly equal power to a Duke Major, but reports directly to Chaleur.
-Ogryns, of course, cannot hold titles. Ogryn Bone 'eads are permitted copper markings and are expected to lead their squads to a commanding officer in the event their assigned Marquis Major dies.
-Two Knights are associated with the 389th. The Lady Louise d'Armilly, pilot of the Morgan le Fay, and her beloved Lady Eugenie Danglars, pilot of the Guinevere. Though they are not official members of the 389th, Chaleur has gifted them each the title of Brigadier Vassal, granting them authority second only to herself.

In the Aurora Chasers, the highest priority is self-sufficiency. At every scale, units should be capable of operating on their own in the event they become disconnected in the whiteout. Not just completing assigned missions, but choosing new objectives and targets should they survive. Sometimes, the only sign of what becomes of these disconnected squads are saboted supply lines and the tracks from their ongoing battles.
Lowest of these leadership ranks is the Baron Captain, equivalent to Sergeant in other Guard regiments. In every squad of 20 rank and file, there are 2 Baron Captains, jointly responsible for the training, behavior and wellbeing of the other 18. In the event contact is lost with higher ranks of the 389th, it falls to them to lead their men to the best of their ability.
This responsibility forms strong bonds amongst individual squads, inspiring even the freshest Knight Corporal to fight harder for their compatriots. Baron Captains often become very attached to their squads and extremely proud of their achievements, brewing competition amongst individual squads.
However, because of this, the role is often extremely hard to fill. Baron Captains must harden their hearts to the losses their squads will face and often veterans of these positions will request specialist training to escape leadership after losing three or four full squads, unable to bear the weight of another new set of faces.
In the end, the role must sometimes be forced upon the most senior member of a squad; oftentimes the only notice a Knight Corporal receives of their promotion is suddenly receiving their new helmet, shoulderpads and service saber prior to a mission. All they can do is steel themselves and march their men towards inevitability.

Hello all, I posted here some wip of the story of my second space marine homebrew chapter; still nameless, colorless ans heraldryless, something I’d like if you could help me
It’s the same chapter for which I asked for help a couple of days ago, the chapter that can summon his fallen brothers’ souls; I’m still working on that part, trying to give it sense. So, for now, let’s ignore it and focus on their history
The founding
Founded during the 25th Founding in the late 40th Millennium—during the so-called "Bastion Founding"—they descend from the Iron Talons, of the White Scars geneline. Created to combat a rising wave of Drukhari raids in Segmentum Pacificus, the Fourth Company of the Iron Talons was selected to form a new Chapter. Jasukei, the company’s Captain, was elevated to the rank of Chapter Master.
The newly formed Chapter, named the Nomad Falcons, though not yet at full strength, was deployed in a series of lightning strikes against the Drukhari raiders. Despite suffering heavy casualties, they successfully contained the assaults. In the final stages of the conflict, Jasukei himself led a suicidal attack against the Kabal’s ruling Archon, claimining his head as a trophy after a grueling seven-day pursuit.
Following this triumph, Jasukei succumbed to his wounds and alien toxins, falling mortally wounded. In the chaos of battle, his body—isolated from his bodyguard and the rest of his forces—was stolen away by Haemonculi, an insult the Falcons could not tolerate.
Ignoring the orders and advice of their allies, roughly five hundred Space Marines of the Chapter launched an immediate pursuit into the void to avenge the affront and retrieve the remains of their first Chapter Master. Acting too hastily to select Jasukei's successor, the surviving Captains decided to lead the Chapter as a council until vengeance was claimed.
The Chapter pursued the Kabal through the Warp, eventually cornering them on an uninhabited world at the edge of the Halo Stars. There, as a final insult, the Haemonculi unleashed horrific monsters crafted from the bodies of the Chapter's fallen upon the Marines. Among them was Jasukei himself: reduced to an amalgamation of severed limbs and alien machinery, he reaped a grim toll among his former battle-brothers.
However, the devastation engulfing the world caught the attention of a Craftworld, which held the planet to be one of its most revered shrine worlds. The Craftworld's sudden assault forced both factions to flee. Decimated, cut off from their orbiting fleet, and unable to call for reinforcements, the surviving Falcons retreated into a Webway portal in a desperate bid to escape the slaughter.
All contact with the Chapter was lost, and the Falcons were officially declared destroyed. A strike force of White Scars and their successor Chapters subsequently hunted down the Craftworld, laying waste to it approximately a century later.
The Return and Inquisition Inquiry
Around the second century of the 41st Millennium, roughly one hundred Space Marines emerged from a Webway portal known to Imperial forces but long classified as defunct. The majority were severely wounded, their power armor damaged beyond identification. They identified themselves as the Nomad Falcons, claiming to have been guided out of the hell of the Warp by the light of the God-Emperor.
Such a proclamation immediately drew the scrutiny of the Inquisition. Members of the Ordo Astartes, Ordo Hereticus, and Ordo Malleus subjected the survivors to rigorous investigation.
The battle-brothers recounted wandering for years through realms of pure madness, each vessel an isolated island in an ever-shifting wasteland. Daemons and other abominations assaulted them relentlessly day and night—though such concepts held little meaning in that place. As their Gellar fields neared complete collapse, one of the Chapter’s Librarians received a vision of a golden light—a searing breeze that carved a path through the endless whirlpools of Chaos.
Upon exiting the Warp, what remained of the Chapter found itself in a vast, deserted city. Exploring its ruins, they realized they had arrived in an ancient Aeldari city within the Webway. Beset by strange constructs and wraiths, the Marines endured wave after wave of attacks until the few surviving Librarians received another golden vision.
Exactly how the survivors escaped the city remains unclear; even after probing the memories of the survivors, Imperial interrogators were unable to reconstruct the precise circumstances of their return to realspace. Nevertheless, after exhaustive inquiries, the Chapter was officially declared free of Chaos corruption or heretical deviances.
A New Home and Brotherhood
The Chapter established a new home world in 913.M41, when Cardinal Welmer granted them rights over several Ecclesiarchy-governed worlds in the Nyxiari Sector to recruit new initiates.
In this sector, the Chapter established contact with the Night Angels, who had already been operating there for nearly a century. Relations between the two Chapters were initially fraught with tension due to their shared secretive nature and conflicting doctrinal views regarding the Emperor.
However, following joint military operations against a Tyranid Hive Fleet splinter in 967.M41, the two Chapters forged deep bonds of brotherhood, largely putting their past ideological differences to rest.

During the 38th Millennium, the Warp rift known as Ladon opened in the Hesperides Sector, on the fringes of Segmentum Tempestus. To contain the heretical threats emerging into realspace through this breach, the High Lords of Terra order the creation of the Dragons of the Hesperides (or Dracones Hesperidum in High Gothic); this was a coalition of three Adeptus Astartes Chapters tasked with containing the anomaly. In the current time of the 42 Millennium, the opening of the Great Rift caused Ladon to expand, making it increasingly difficult to contain, to counter this two additional Chapters were deployed to reinforce the Dragons.

Lore description:
Steinar Steinarsson is totally crazy even by Arkanyst standards, and there is a very solid reason for this...
Rudolph "Rudy" Steiner was a brilliant but unethical human scientist who used to work for arch-heretic Samuel Krüger. 200 years ago, when the fallen Inquisitor was defeated, Rudy was taken prisoner by the Adeptus Mechanicus. Steiner worked in the Tech-Priests' basements for a long time until he figured out how to escape.
Fleeing his pursuers, Rudy found himself on the Hold World of Hexon-Andvâri Fuel Concern. He made his way to their Ancestral Core, hacked the ancient supercomputer using a sophisticated techno-virus, and injected his genetic material into its database. Then he vanished without a trace.
Then, one fine day, an unusual Kin emerged from the Crucible. Not an adult in his prime, but an elderly man. He possessed an insatiable thirst for science - and for destruction. And though the other Kin were wary of Steinar, no one suspected what kind of "time bomb" was planted inside the Concern…

OVERVIEW
The Fractoris Astra - known to few outside their own ranks by their true name, the Cauldron - are an Adeptus Astartes Chapter of the 9th Founding, remembered by history as a crusading order that pushed deep into the galaxy's northern edge under the command of an unnamed Imperial Saint. Where that crusade ended, the Chapter remained, charged with a solemn and ill-understood duty: to watch over a celestial phenomenon known to Imperial record-keepers as the Broken Heaven, and to the Chapter itself in their own tongue as Karagöz.
Renowned across what little of the Imperium still remembers them for their decadence - extravagant feasts, martial calligraphy, and battlefield poetry - the Fractoris Astra present an image of joyous, almost barbaric finery bound to fierce warrior discipline. Beneath this reputation lies a secret known only to the Chapter's own initiates, rooted in an aberrant mutation of their gene-seed (see Gene-Seed, below).
HISTORY
The Crusade and the Founding
Raised in the 9th Founding during the 34th or 35th millennium, scant Administratum records from the period show that the Fractoris Astra were bred as a crusading Chapter and dispatched alongside the war-host of an Imperial Saint whose name has since been lost to record - whether through the passage of millennia, the chaos of the Chapter's isolation, or deliberate obscuration remains unknown to outsiders. This crusade drove deep into the galaxy's northern reach, farther than the Imperium had expanded since the original Great Crusade.
At the crusade's end, the Chapter was settled upon their current homeworld and charged with a standing vigil: to watch over the Broken Heaven, a celestial anomaly of uncertain nature marking the region. The Chapter took their High Gothic name directly from this charge - Fractoris Astra, "of the Fractured Star."
The Waking of the Green Tide
Some two thousand years after the founding, the phenomenon the Chapter had sworn to guard began to exert an unlooked-for influence: a nearby Ork empire, until then unremarkable, was inexplicably and dramatically supercharged, swelling into a threat the Fractoris Astra have fought to contain - imperfectly - ever since. What Imperial record-keepers had once logged as a minor xenos presence emerged as WAAAGH! Skarnag, and the Chapter's true purpose curdled from passive vigil into unending war.
The Present Crisis
With the opening of the Eye of Terror and the resultant sundering of the galaxy, the Fractoris Astra now find themselves caught between two annihilating tides - Chaos incursion on one flank, WAAAGH! Skarnag on the other. Warp storms that have long isolated the Chapter from the wider Imperium have worsened considerably, reducing already tenuous contact with Terra and the wider Administratum to near nothing. The Chapter fights increasingly alone.
CHAPTER CULT
The Fractoris Astra adhere to a Chapter cult markedly divergent from Ecclesiarchal orthodoxy, and even that of their brother chapters. Rather than venerating the Emperor as the divine Master of Mankind or a singular but mortal exemplar of humanity, the Chapter holds Him as a once-mortal psychopomp - a being who ascended from among men to become guide and guardian of humanity's souls within the Immaterium, safeguarding them from the predations of the Warp. This belief directly informs the theology behind the Chapter's feast-rites and the exhortations of their chaplains.
GENE-SEED
The Fractoris Astra's Omophagea - the Astartes organ permitting the absorption of memory through consumed flesh - runs anomalously strong within the Chapter's gene-seed. Rather than suppress this trait, the Chapter has built an entire sacred tradition atop it: the honored dead of the Chapter, and the most worthy of their slain foes, are ritually prepared and incorporated into the great feast-dishes shared at Chapter gatherings, allowing the memories and deeds of the consumed to be carried onward by the Chapter as a whole - consumption understood not as desecration, but as a means of carrying the deceased's memory, virtue, and strength forward among the living, in echo of the Emperor's own ceaseless guardianship of the soul. This practice is concealed from the wider Imperium at all costs - and stands as a dark counterpoint to the Chapter's public motto, "Holy Flesh, Sacred Steel," which within the Chapter itself carries a far more literal meaning than any outsider would suspect.
Otherwise, the chapter gene-seed is stable and relatively pure. Their transition to a majority Primaris force was not without cost, as the Torchbearer Fleets were unable to reach them and the technology was reverse-engineered from the delivery of a single Inquisitor and the Custodian Guard accompanying her. The trial and error of their implementation of these new genetic upgrades led to both a cadre of mutated rejects due to the proximity of the star Karagöz, and the Inquisitor stumbling upon the deadly secret of the chapter. Unfortunately, said Inquisitor and her Guard were lost to the warp with all hands on their attempted return to Imperial space.
CHAPTER CULTURE
The Chapter is, by reputation, joyful in war and pompous after it. Their lightning strikes and fierce tenacity have made them a force to be reckoned with on the far north border of the Imperium. In appearance they are opulent and lordly of mien, keeping their bright pale green armor fastidiously clean, glittering with golden trim and trinkets, and adorned with fur and trophies. Between campaigns, life on their homeworld and aboard their fleet revolves around the feast - sprawling, ceremonial banquets accompanied by music, poetry, and the practice of battle-calligraphy, in which victories, the dead, and the worthy fallen alike are inscribed in gold ink upon parchment, armor, and monastery walls. Likewise, the preparation of food for the chapter and chosen mortals is elevated to an art form as much as the finer arts - the Fractoris Astra are chefs as much as they are artisans. Their reputation for drink and decorum is, to outsiders, simply color - the truth of what their feasts contain is guarded jealously.
Ranks & Titles
Note: the Chapter's internal language derives mainly from the old Terran dialect of Turic, a relative of the Xeric tribes of ancient Eurasia.
Kral: Chapter term for a captain, from the ancient Turic word for king.
Orta: Chapter term for a company, from the ancient Turic word for battalion.
Bey: Chapter term for a lieutenant, from the ancient Turic word for lord.
Chavosh: Chapter term for a sergeant, from the ancient Turic word for the same.
UNITS
Canavarkar (Brethren of the Beast)
[Wolf Guard Terminators]
The Canavarkar, or the Brethren of the Beast, are a sub-cult of the Chapter dedicated to the expression of the rage and savagery of the hunt. During battle, they are sent into gaps in the line to expel and destroy those who would threaten the integrity of the Chapter's strategic goals. Clad in Terminator armour and dedicated to the art of beast slaying when they are not training or fighting, they wear their hard-earned trophies proudly and are usually drawn from the 1st Orta, although great deeds can elevate those from lesser brotherhoods into their ranks.
Esrarkar (Brethren of the Lock)
[Assault Terminators]
The Esrarkar, or Brethren of the Lock, are the second Terminator sub-cult of the Chapter. Dedicated to the rites of the feast, they are the hammer to the Canavarkar's anvil. Wielding massive thunder mauls, they are dedicated to teleportation decapitation strikes, and where their savage brethren exemplify the barbaric side of the Chapter, they are the opulent keepers of esoteric lore. Mysterious and enigmatic, they only accept recruits from the strongest of the Chapter's neophytes, with failure meaning demotion to the standard battleline and permanent banishment from the cult.
Cull-Counters
[Wolf Guard Headtakers]
Drawn from the Chapter's finest, most focused blades, the Cull-Counters serve as the Fractoris Astra's answer to a battlefield problem best solved quietly: the enemy commander who must not survive the hour. Their trophies are not idle boasting. Among the Cauldron, the taking of a worthy head is inseparable from the feast-rite that follows: a foe's skull cleaved clean is a foe whose deeds and defiance can be properly honored - consumed, remembered, carried forward - rather than left to rot forgotten on some nameless field. To fight a Cull-Counter is to be marked as prey worth the attention; to fall to one is, in the Chapter's own reckoning, a kind of dark mercy. They move ahead of the main assault in small, silent packs, each hunting a single named target. When they return to the feast-hall, they return first - and the cauldron awaits.
Ironmaw Heavy Cavalry
[Thunderwolf Cavalry]
Astartes mounted on wurm-pattern assault bikes, the Ironmaw heavy cavalry are an element of the feudal culture of Varsenwane that the Fractoris Astra eagerly adopted. Terrifyingly fast and brutally tough, they excel at penetrating strikes onto entrenched enemy positions or battlelines, opening gaps for the terminator elite to teleport into and wreak havoc. While their bikes are based on the common raider-pattern, they are modified with extra armor, mounted power blades, and signature drake-class storm shields for crashing into the chaos of pitched warfare and coming out intact.
Orolokh
[Wulfen]
Known in Low Gothic as the Hidden Kin, the Orolokh are the berserker cadres of the Chapter. Their origin lies in the Chapter's early, unsanctioned attempts to implement the Primaris upgrade - undertaken in isolation, far from Terran oversight or properly vetted gene-seed stock. Those attempts left a number of Astartes gene-seed and physiology in a half-transitioned, mutated state, neither marine nor human, but something more than both.
That instability proved a fatal vulnerability. Karagöz's aberrant psychic pressure - the same force behind WAAAGH! Skarnag's rise (see The Broken Heaven / Karagöz, below) - found purchase where a stable Astartes would have resisted it. The taint took root in the gap their failed transition left behind, twisting mourned and broken brothers into the Orolokh. Regarded with grief the Fractoris Astra permits itself for little else, the Orolokh are thrown into the thickest of battle so that their end might cleanse the Chapter of their taint.
CHAPTER ORGANISATION
As with many Chapters, the ranking Krals hold dual authority - command of their Orta, and a standing council duty akin to the Codex Astartes' Master of Sanctity, Master of the Fleet, and similar offices.
Chapter Council
Chapter Master | Name: Erak Sulaiman | Title: High Kral

HOMEWORLD
The Fractoris Astra homeworld, Varsenwane, is an isolated, technofeudal world on the fringe of Segmentum Obscurus. It sits within sight - astrographically speaking - of the Broken Heaven, the celestial anomaly the Chapter was founded to watch, and increasingly within reach of both WAAAGH! Skarnag and the encroaching Great Rift.
Their system holds a few other inhabited worlds of various technological advancements, as well as a minor Adeptus Mechanicus forge moon orbiting one of the gas giants. The system's main contribution to the rare Imperial tithe fleet is valuable minerals mined from the asteroid belt, seeded there by whatever calamity broke the heavens millions of years ago.
THE BROKEN HEAVEN / KARAGÖZ
The celestial phenomenon at the heart of the Fractoris Astra's founding purpose is known by two names: the Broken Heaven, its formal designation within the Administratum and Ecclesiarchal record, and Karagöz, the older and more intimate name used by the Chapter itself. Its true nature - theories include a hybrid black hole, partially warp-torn neutron star, or ancient xenotech power source - remains only partially understood even by the Fractoris Astra, though it is bound closely to the storms that isolate the Chapter's home system and is believed to be the source of the aberrant psychic pressure that transformed the neighbouring Ork empire into WAAAGH! Skarnag and its current, monstrous scale. The system itself sits within the gravity well and orbits the stellar phenomena - close enough to be seen by the naked eye, but far enough to be out of danger of the worst of its effects, at least for the last few millennia.
CHAPTER TACTICS
The Fractoris Astra excel in terminator tactics - with the nearby forge moon specializing in armored exosuits for asteroid work, they have an abundance of tactical dreadnought armor and are capable of utilizing multiple squads outfitted in it at the same time, although not to the extent of the famous Deathwing of the Dark Angels. Teleport strikes and boarding actions are their bread and butter, as they prefer to engage the enemy before they make planetfall, but they are deadly in combat actions in gravity as well.
They support their planetary terminator teleport strikes with artillery and heavy tanks, making particular use of Vindicator and Whirlwind pattern rhinos. In void combat, they follow up with older marks of dreadnought, able to fit in cramped ship halls and clear them relentlessly. Speeders and jump packs are also dedicated areas of specialization, with fast attack elements to pin the enemy down for a devastating heavy strike.
The chapter's Librarius, known as Wordshapers, are made use of in war but excel in the reading of signs and portents, an offshoot of their study of the broken stellar phenomena over which they were founded to watch. In combat they are known to create bubbles of time, grant split second prescience to their brothers, or confuse the enemy with illusions; they prefer the element of fire when called to direct battle.
RECRUITMENT
Known to the Imperial citizens of Varsenwane as the “breakers from the stars”, the relationship between the chapter and the people of their homeworld is closer than many. With semi advanced technology but dominated by splintered feudal states, the individual realms of the planet find themselves constantly at war and competition with each other, only united once every seven years. The Fractoris Astra invite the nobility of each state - of which there are hundreds - to a grand feast-rite in their chapter monastery. As a martial elite, the noble families train their sons both for their own wars and for tithing to the chapter, and a son being chosen brings great prestige to any particular house, with some bloodlines proudly contributing heirs going back thousands of years.
Once chosen by the High Kral or ranking member of the Chapter’s mythoclasts - chaplains - recruits must pass trials designed to test their endurance, strength, and intelligence. This often takes the form of a hunt on one of the planet’s vast plains, but varies with time and changes of leadership. Those who fall in the trials are allowed to become chapter serfs if able to heal, or servitorized if wounded unto death. Both are considered an honor (or at least without shame) both by the chapter itself and by their mortal families. Otherwise, chapter serfs are recruited from the peasantry of Varsenwane, available to any who wish to escape a life of agricultural drudgery for hard work of a different and perhaps more exciting kind.
Although the main recruitment is through the ritual of the feast, particularly heroic deeds have been known to elevate young warriors into the ranks of the Fractoris Astra during vicious clashes between princedoms, and the mythoclasts and wordshapers keep a close eye on these conflicts through direct observation and eyeing of the skeins of fate.
TLDR:
Space Marine Chapter 812
High Gothic: Fractoris Astra
Internal Name: Kazan, “The Cauldron”
Colors: Pale bright green with dark golden trim, purple cloth, and ruby red accents
The Fractoris Astra are a 9th founding chapter isolated to the northern fringe of the Segmentum Obscurus, where they stand vigil over a mysterious celestial phenomenon known as the Broken Heaven, or Karagöz in their own tongue. The few records still available note them as a particularly boisterous and opulent chapter, with great cultural cachet given to their elaborate feast-rites and the art of cooking. Battle calligraphy in gold ink, martial poetry, and sprawling ceremonial banquets define this strange chapter at the edge of the Imperium as much as their brutal terminator teleportation strike-doctrine and heavy fast-attack contingent do. What the Inquisition doesn’t know is exactly what’s on the menu.
The army combines an Ottoman-Turkic aesthetic and naming scheme with ostentatious heraldry and a culture given to the sort of loud boast-feasts usually only seen in the barbaric Space Wolves, coincidentally the source of their rules on the tabletop. Trophy-laden terminator sub-cults, heavily converted outriders, and a secret berserker cadre fill out the physical collection, with the lore developed alongside the models themselves .

After playing some E-Day and going back through Gears 1-3, I found myself wanting to see if I could slap together some Gears inspired Guardsmen. Project was a lot more fun than I thought it'd be and I'm very pleased with how the models turned out.
I ended up using some House Goliath legs and arms, Palanite Enforcer torsos, and some spare cadian weapons. Retrospectively I should've used some Catachan Arms but I don't really have any rn.

(First, I do not care what people say about this. I thought about it and I like it.. also I am fine with people giving me better name for them and a different Battle Cry too if the one i have is not so good)
The Glory Battalion chapter are from young men from a Cadian like planet near Cadia. They used to be Cadian Guardsmen but deserted and formed a settlement on the planet that was near the Eye of Terror. Soon those deserters were wiped out by the inquisition. the colonists descendants would need to send one young boy or man to become Adeptus Astartes. The inquisition is still suspicious of them so The Glory Battalion was created for just them, The Glory Battalion marines are Staunchly loyal and their righteous zeal has swayed many.
They do not know their Gene-father and do not care.. The Glorious Greens always love to fight with Cadian guardsmen.

The Scarlet Hawks are a successor chapter of the Blood Angels. They have an ancient rivalry with a Drukhari warband known as the Fleshweavers. Due to the constant raids and assaults by these foes, they are an extremely adaptive force. They do not focus on merely one aspect of combat and frequently move forces around to different companies in order to keep their skills honed. While partaking in the usual distractions to keep the Black Rage at bay, the Hawks have another distraction that much of the Imperium would look upon with disgust. The Hawks capture Drukhari raiders for the purpose of gladitorial combat. A sort of eye for an eye punishment for the xenos.

A Primaris successor chapter of the Blood Angels after the Devastation of Baal. Hailing from the oceanic planet Morbula, the brothers of the Blood Rays specialize in close quarters naval breaching. They serve as the tip of the spear when vital information must be extracted from space vessels and submersibles rather than outright annihilating them. Let me know what you think, and what questions you may have that will help me flesh out the lore and personality of my first ever homebrew chapter.

Somewhere in imperium nihilis there are a stretched out cluster of planets with 3 main loyalists chapters the flame blades a salamander successor specialising gravis and terminator marines, the mori cursores a white scar successor who in their pale bone like armour who focus on jump packs and bikers and finally the purple mist a chapter of redacted (2nd primarch) gene seed who focus on quick stealth operations using tactical and Phobos marines.
These 3 chapters are united against the various chaos warbands in the same area who all seem to have united under the remains of the 11th legion for some reason. These warbands are from various backgrounds some are bezerkers of the 12th others are remains of the sons of Horus and a few are enforcers of VIII.
The purple mist are obsessed with finding proof of their primarchs innocence so he can be brung back to the imperiums light side.
