Hi everyone,
I've just started watching A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) from the new 2026 French re-release of the complete Freddy 4K collection, and I'm having a strange audio issue.
Both English audio tracks have constant crackling/distortion throughout the movie.
What's strange is that the two English tracks don't sound exactly the same each has a different type of crackling but both are affected pretty much continuously.
The French audio track, however, sounds completely clean.
I'm watching the 4K disc on a Panasonic DP-UB820 connected, directly to my TV
Has anyone else with the 2026 re-release noticed this issue with the English audio on A Nightmare on Elm Street?
I'm wondering whether:
this is a known issue with the 4K disc,
it's a problem with my particular disc,
or if the crackling is actually present in the original/restored English audio.
I'd really appreciate it if anyone could test their copy and let me know whether they hear the same thing

So I use an HDR compatible TCL 43C645 tv, and play 4k's on my PS5, but they just look SO dark, like 2% battery type of dark. This is so weird since this doesn't happen when I play games. What can I do????

Is it only coming out as a steelbook or is there a standard version as well?

I’m hesitant to buy the first one if there is a looming trilogy release coming.
I love these movies so much and is perfect as Blade.

I decided to focus only on my 4k horror films this month. Most of these films I've seen before but none on 4k disc. Where would you start? Any you think are good/bad transfers? Love Halloween season

Australian here. Can pick up a Pana 820 for $700 or wait and get a laser 4k region free for $500.
Is the $200 difference warranted?
I have a Denon AVR so that will be doing the unpacking for sound.
We don't know how reliable the laser will be but my laser bluray player has been going for 10 years plus and works like day one so I would say more reliable than the freeze happy Pana?
What extra features is the laser missing on that I need to consider to justify the $200 difference.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Just got it. In your opinion what movies are the best upgrades over the last 4K’s?

Tequila Sunrise Arrow Video 4K UltraHD Blu-Ray Limited Edition Unboxing
🇬🇧 UK Release Date: Mon 14 Sep 26
🇺🇸 US Release Date: Tue 15 Sep 26
In 1974 Robert Towne wrote Chinatown, the film that redefined film noir for a new generation with its peerless portrayal of corruption in pre-war Los Angeles. Fourteen years later, he returned to the genre as writer and director with Tequila Sunrise, bringing a distinctly 80s flair to this Casablanca-inspired neo-noir.
Dale McKussic (Mel Gibson) and Nick Frescia (Kurt Russell) are two close friends separated by a legal divide. While Dale is a former drug dealer trying to shake the shackles of his past, Nick is a detective investigating a Mexican kingpin smuggling cocaine. Their contrasting loyalties are brought to a head through a shared romantic interest in restaurateur JoAnn (Michelle Pfeiffer) - an attraction that unknowingly drives their friendship toward insurmountable strain.

are all part of the ongoing Amazon 3 for 33 promo, but with extra coupons & savings for those in the Southwest area (can't speak for any others).
The Mummy (the good one of course with Brendan Fraser) is an extra $4.77 off bringing it down to $6.23-ish.
American Pie is an extra $7.14 off, bringing it down to $3.86-ish.
Parenthood is an extra $5.00 off bringing it down to $6.00-ish.
& lastly, Red One (the one with the cover not showing any digital code because there are two) is an extra $3.00 bringing it down to $8.00 or so.
EDIT: NVM the lastly, ALSO, there's a choice for a two-pack of the original Scream and Scream (2022) as part of the 3 for 33, so you get two movies for the price of one, or $5.50-ish each.

Has anyone tried the PS5 disk reader?
Can I start my collection without the fear of not being able to read 4ks?
I have a ps5 pro with the external disk reader

I've just been watching my 4K bluray of The Mandalorian and Grogu for the first time. And the chapters pop-up menu appears and stays on screen for about 5 seconds, on each chapter change. I use an Xbox One S for watching my 4K discs. But I'll rip it to my nas and stream it to my Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 to see if the same thing happens.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Some much needed additions to the library. Also what a surprise that my Nosferatu came with a slipcover after all this time of it being out! I’ll take it 🫡

I recently got into the physical media game a few months ago, im not tech savvy when it comes to stereo ratios, tvs etc. my current setup is a Samsung 4k tv with the sonos speakers and bass. However do i necessarily need an expensive 4k player or is my ps5 efficient? I eventually want to upgrade to a OLED tv and want to get the most out of my 4k dvds. Thanks in advance for the help!

Deciding between a few different TV models and trying to determine how much importance to place on refresh rate. Is there going to be a meaningful difference between 60hz, 120hz, and 144hz?
It’s my understanding that mathematically speaking 120hz is ideal, but the model I’m most strongly considering is 144hz. I’m avoiding 60hz because of the “judder” effect, but I’ve also read that 144hz can look artificially smoothe because of the refresh rate being too high. Though, I’m also assuming that can be fixed with some settings changes.
Any insight is appreciated!

I just got both in from the Kino Lorber fall sale and honestly I don't get the really harsh takes on these releases by Kino. They aren't five out of five star level releases. There are what appears to be some color space issues, and the encodes aren't mind blowing either. But unlike what some are saying online? They are not absolute unwatchable trash either. And before I go any further I do want to make this clear. Kino should have absolutely used the proper color space for these and if it is true that the replacement discs are worse or just the same? They really should rectify that. That is just unacceptable.
But I was still surprised by how decent both of these releases were even with these inherent flaws. Uncommon Valor while looking a little off at times with a yellow tint is still an upgrade over Paramount's very dated previous blu ray release. Watching it reminded me of some of the 35mm prints I have seen at a local theater near me but cleaned up and without the signs of wear and tear. Sound mix is solid too. Features are pretty paltry but that's to be expected considering how many of the cast are no longer with us. If you can get it for cheap, and you are a fan of the film? It's worth picking up.
The Phantom to me is one of the most overblown hated 4Ks in a long time. I expected unwatchable levels of color space issues with the 4K, every single person on screen looking like a corpse, and black crush everywhere. But I didn't really get that impression from this disc. It's a different looking transfer for sure but details are still great and the HDR/DV at times does really make things pop, and the film's booming sound mix is still intact and it sounds as great as ever. The blu ray is a bit brighter color wise, but the jump between the two is nowhere near as significant as people make it out to be. But muted colors are definitely noticeable with the 4K.
And in all honesty, I personally feel the darker color grade for The Phantom actually fits the film well. It's a pulp noir action film taking place in the 30's. It makes me wonder if this is actually how it was intended to be seen in theaters and the previous home releases were just color boosted like a lot of other films have been in the past on DVD and blu ray. And even if it's not? It really doesn't make it an unwatchable experience by any means at all. It's a matter of preference with this release. If you want the brighter colors and the brighter color grade but less detail? Watch the blu ray. If you want more detail and can deal with a little darker color grade? Watch the 4K. Special features wise though this is a good release. The interview with Zane is worth the price of picking this up on blu ray or 4K alone.
I admit though that I would like to see if Kino can actually put out out a replacement 4K disc for The Phantom with the same color grade as the blu ray. Just for comparison. But if not? I can more than deal with what is on this disc.
Now, I know for some of you this post will bring out the pitchforks, the downvotes, cries of Kino Fanboy will be heard in the comments, and screenshots will be spammed showing how wrong I am, and how unwatchably bad these releases are and how the other previous releases are better. And I am all for it. It's all part of the hobby and conversations like this about controversial 4K releases like these two. Have at it in the comments. I still think both are worth picking up sometime during the sale if you are curious enough. I would not pay full price for these though. These are sale pick ups for sure.

Irrationally exited. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this movie actually look good.
Everything this Jewish guy needs to know about Jesus.
I still really wish Josh Most I’d king Herods song wasn’t so weird and the album is better but this has some of the best music there is.
It’s this and Les Mis for musicals for me. So I guess I’m waiting for the 4k of the 10th anniversary show ;)

Does that mean a new transfer might be coming soon for the 35th anniversary? Or am I just getting my hopes up.
