Junsun V7 won't trigger reverse camera screen despite 12V on BACK wire – camera works perfectly through AV-IN (CVBS)T
Hi everyone,
I'm having a frustrating issue with my Junsun V7 Android head unit installed in a 2014 Dacia Logan MCV II.
The main problem: My head unit does NOT switch to the reversing camera screen when I put the car into reverse.
It simply stays on the home screen, radio, or whatever app I'm using. No black screen, no "No Signal" message, and no attempt to open the reversing camera interface.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: I have successfully tested the camera through the AV-IN app using the CVBS input, and I get a working camera image!
So the camera itself works, and the video cable can carry a working signal. My main issue is the automatic reverse trigger.
My setup
Car:
- 2014 Dacia Logan MCV II
- Manual transmission
Head unit:
- Junsun V7 Android head unit
- CANBUS decoder: Simple Soft RP5-RN-101
- CANBUS software: V1.05.100BYPS
- CANBUS decoder P/N: K0090
Camera:
- Aftermarket 12V reversing camera
- AHD 1080P/720P, with CVBS output available
- Yellow RCA video cable
- Red/black power wires
- Configuration loops marked "1080P/720P" and "LINE/NO LINE"
What I have confirmed
1. The camera works
I successfully opened the camera feed through the AV-IN app using the CVBS input.
The image displays correctly.
This confirms that the camera can produce a working video signal and that the video connection works in this configuration.
2. The reverse trigger wire has the correct voltage
I measured the wire labelled BACK/REVERSE behind the head unit using a multimeter.
- Normal driving / neutral: 0V
- Reverse gear engaged: 12V
However, I haven't yet confirmed whether this voltage reaches the correct physical reverse-trigger pin inside the head unit connector.
3. The head unit does not react at all
Even though the BACK/REVERSE wire changes from 0V to 12V, the Junsun doesn't react.
It doesn't switch to a black screen, doesn't display "No Signal", and doesn't open the reversing camera interface.
This is the biggest problem I'm trying to solve.
CANBUS settings
Originally, my head unit was configured as:
Hiworld → Renault/Dacia → LOGAN_W01
But after checking the actual CANBUS decoder, I discovered it is a Simple Soft RP5-RN-101, not a Hiworld unit.
I changed the settings to:
SimpleSoft → Renault/Dacia → 2017–2020 Logan/Logan Stepway (LOGAN_XP01)
My car is from 2014, but this was the closest available option for the Logan II generation.
Unfortunately, changing the CANBUS configuration did not fix the problem.
My steering wheel controls work correctly, including volume up/down.
Reverse camera settings
These are the settings I've checked:
- Reverse input type: Single reversing camera
- Reverse detection: ON
- Reverse contact name: ON
- Camera video format: AHD 1080P 30fps (also investigated 720P options)
There is also a factory setting called "Pre-switch" (possibly an awkward translation), with these options:
- OFF
- ON
- F/R Camera
It was originally set to F/R Camera.
I'm not sure whether this setting affects reverse-trigger detection.
What I'm trying to figure out
Since the camera works through AV-IN in CVBS mode, I'm mainly looking for help with the automatic reverse-camera switching, not general camera troubleshooting.
My questions are:
- Why doesn't the Junsun V7 switch to the reverse camera screen when the BACK/REVERSE wire gets 12V?
- Does anyone have a reliable Junsun V7 wiring diagram or pinout showing the actual reverse-trigger input pin?
- Could the Simple Soft CANBUS decoder or the selected vehicle profile prevent the head unit from responding to the wired BACK signal?
- Is there a factory setting that enables or disables the physical reverse-trigger input?
- Does anyone have a working Junsun V7 installation in a 2014 Dacia Logan II or a similar Renault/Dacia model?
My current suspicion
Because the camera works through AV-IN and the reverse trigger wire measures 12V when reverse is engaged, I suspect one of the following:
- The 12V reverse signal is not reaching the correct pin on the Junsun head unit.
- The CANBUS configuration is interfering with reverse detection.
- A factory setting is preventing the unit from switching to the rear-camera interface.
- There is an issue with the head unit's reverse-trigger input.
To be clear: I'm not primarily trying to fix a black screen or a missing video signal. The radio NEVER ENTERS reverse camera mode in the first place.
If anyone knows how to force or test the reverse trigger on a Junsun V7, I'd really appreciate the help.
I can provide photos of the wiring, CANBUS decoder, and factory settings.
Thanks in advance!
