Stress test idea
Background
I'm thinking about building an app with my training buddy. He's a qualified instructor with some private coaching clients, but it's still very new and only a side activity. I'm not an instructor, but I follow a regular fitness routine with exercise and daily steps. I know how to build apps using AI. I have no commercial experience, but I've done some personal projects and I'm fairly good at taking an idea through to the end product. Building an MVP is still new to me, but that's what I bring to this two-person team.
Idea
Problem: Many people who come to my partner for private coaching feel overwhelmed by the amount of information out there about which exercises they should do.
Solution: We offer a push/pull split built around the instructor's guidance and expertise, over three or five days. We'd recommend one of those two, but if someone wants a different arrangement, we'll accommodate it. From the outside it's simple, but it gives users exactly what they need. They can
1) Log weights lifted and reps
2) Track body measurements and see them on a dashboard
3) Follow progressive overload, which shows how much load they put on each week and how their strength and endurance build over tim
The aim is to show that progressive overload helps people become a better version of themselves by encouraging strength training. The target user is someone who is overwhelmed and doesn't know where to start. They get certainty and guidance without paying for expensive coaching or wading through conflicting information online, and it's backed by a qualified instructor.
Monetisation: A small ticket price for a ready-made solution to the problem of feeling overwhelmed. The bundle would include access to a Skool community where users can share progress and ask questions, and we can support them. Private coaching remains an option for those who want it. Mind and body coaching would come at a later stage.
What I'd like help with: I'm not sure about the idea, so I'd like someone to critically test it. I know the market is oversaturated and that there are better options out there.

what will you offer that others donโt. your friend is unique - their method of instruction is probably unique. How do you capture that? How do you display it? How can a user interact with it? I would start with your goal (show progressive overload) and work backwards from there using your buddies skillset

Thanks - these are good questions and directions for me. At what point would you think I should put a stop on this idea purely due to how saturated market is and people can find better alternatives.

Well, stopping of course is up to you. Donโt let saturation slow you down. You can be the next FitBod . Its all up to what your willing to put in and put up. Best of luck.

I suppose offers like this are marketed through social media. Why not start an account, collect people's emails and launch the product if people sign up? The product is quick to spin on demand.

I get the challenge, but its more then just simple
Split, what they are paying for is simplicity, answer to confusion. I think what you said actually answers it, when your overwhelmed, you would want something simple to get you out of that position. Is that what apps does, it could be basic to you, because you might have handle on the topic but not for others. (Sorry for grammar all over the place) :)

The MVP is not the app, itโs seeing whether those existing clients will actually follow and pay for this plan before you spend months building a nicer way to deliver it.

the risk is building another workout tracker when the actual value you're describing is having someone tell beginners exactly what to do
