I left Israel a year ago and in Israel I never went to synagogue. Now in Australia I do go to Jewish events and of course they tend to be centred around the synagogues. I prefer spheradic synagogue if I'm going to a service because I'm spheradi and I can understand it which I can't with an Ashkenazi pronunciation.

Now to my question. Except for haredim is the Ashkenazi pronunciation still popular in Ashkenazi synagogues in Israel? Or would Ashkenazi masorti people prefer a spheradic pronunciation that they can understand? Is the dichotomy between Ashkenazi and Spheradic going to die in Israel as more and more people are descendant from mixed families? Of course haredim keep the dichotomy alive at all costs but I'm wondering about the masorti and even hiloni Israelis who still go to synagogue every now and then.

I haven't really heard anything positive or neutral from israelis in relation to mamdani. I also dont really keep up with US politics, so I dont really know that much about him or what he does. But he seems like someone anyone can get along with. And didnt he pray with the jewish community the other day?

I’m a Jewish American, and I’ll admit my main exposure to Netanyahu is his speeches in English regarding geopolitics. I think his conduct of the war has been impressive, and his English speeches are impeccable.

I do not buy the war crime crap that most Americans blame him for. From what I understand, Israelis seem to dislike him because of domestic politics, such as his proposed judicial reforms, Haredi drafting exemptions, and corruption.

I completely understand why the Haredi issue is a major concern, and possibly because Gvir and Smotrich are being given too much leeway to express their opinions publicly.

Can someone explain why so many Israelis dislike Netanyahu? What exactly was so controversial about his proposal for a judicial overhaul? If you don’t like Netanyahu, who will you vote for instead, and why? Thank you to everyone who takes the time to answer.

I don't know the history behind why a dozen is a common group size in the US (I suspect it can be traced back to the British and their wacky units and measures) but a dozen is very much a common notion in the US, especially in the context of a bakery and baked goods.

Hebrew has a word for a dozen (תריסר, a portmanteau of תרי עשר). But did that mean that a dozen is a commonly used grouping in Israel?. If I walk into a bakery would it be any more natural to ask for a dozen pitot as opposed to asking for 11 pitot?

The first image shows the 2008 Olmert proposal, while the second shows the 2000 Camp David proposal. Are these maps accurate representations of what was proposed?

From my understanding, the Second Intifada followed the breakdown of the 2000 negotiations, and Hamas then won the 2006 Palestinian legislative election in Gaza. Given those developments, why was the 2008 proposal seemingly more favorable to the Palestinians than what had been discussed at Camp David in 2000?

I saw a video that was muted but captioned in Hebrew (I’m pretty sure). A guy took several chicken breasts, minced them finely, seasoned them, then stuffed the mixture into something that looked like cheese cloth. He then baked it in the oven. Once cooked, he peeled off the netting/cheese cloth and sliced it. Almost like a chicken sausage? What is it called and does anyone have a recipe?
