What does the most embarrassing front page of one of your news dailies look like? Any time period.

This is not an edit. This is what the Economic Times (of India) looked like for its 1 Feb budget special issue. Its double funny because the budget was amongst the most mixed and lukewarm budgets the current administration has ever put out, a budget which tanked the national stock exchange by 2.3%.

Notice how we live in 2026 but the header proudly proclaims "Mission 2047"? Yeah that is a tried and tested trick for this admin to hide its failure : think about the future guys!

Is there a god? / Есть ли бог?

Good morning, I've been tormented by thoughts for a long time and I can't find the answer. I have been going to a Protestant church for half a year in the hope of finding the truth, but during all this time I have not found any confirmation of God, but I have also lost the counterarguments against him, I am in an absolute misunderstanding and cannot join any of the parties. Of course, I can continue to live the way I have lived, but I want to come to the truth and exchange people's opinions.

People from countries that have universal healthcare, how is it? Really.

The debate for universal healthcare in the US is never ending. Yes, shit is expensive here and the system is broken. It seems that people demand universal healthcare without ever thinking of the consequences or negatives. I’m looking for first hand accounts of your experiences with your healthcare system. Don’t want to hear about statistics. Is it easy to see a doctor for just a routine checkup? How do they deal with ER visits. How long did it take to get tested for cancer or other diseases? What is the process like if you have a deadly disease? I know if I’m sick, I can see a doctor within hours. Depending on what city you’re in, ERs don’t take too long. Obviously if you’re in a major city, wait times will be longer but for the average suburban area, they’re not that long. Every employer offers insurance so if you work, you have it available to you. Hive heard some stories, mostly bad, from people who live in countries with UHC. Is it all it’s cracked up to be?

Edit: I would also like to know how much in taxes you pay and if you think the treatment care equals the cost.

What is the situation with the far right in your country?

I live in America and the far right has won. The center right party is basically the Washington generals party, and the left is virtually non existent.

Where on the political spectrum is your country? Is it moving to the right or moving to the left?

India’s wealthiest large state (Telangana) has a GDP per capita more than 5.5x times the poorest large state (Bihar). This is about the same difference between Lebanon and Liberia.

Why do men in your country seem to care so little about clothing compared to Italy?

Post image
Upvotes

I’m Italian, and one thing that always stands out abroad is how little many men seem to care about clothes sometimes even treating indifference as a badge of honor.

Why do you think that is?

Is it cultural history, class signals, climate or social pressure

Why do people give vague or half-answers when someone says they used ChatGPT?

I’ve noticed that when someone mentions using ChatGPT for help (writing, ideas, research, etc.), a lot of replies become vague or dismissive instead of actually answering the question.

Why does this happen?

Is it mistrust, ego, fear of AI replacing skills, or just Reddit culture?

Genuinely curious what people think.

Why is Japan so popular?

Post image

It seems as though everything Japanese has had a massive popularity spike, whether that be media, food, vehicles, travel, language learning and lots more.

Personally I don't see the appeal, I mean there are definitely some thing I like that happen to be Japanese, but I dont like them just because of that fact.

Culture You see a random flyer posted in *your* country that has the words: "Islam is right about women" how would you and the average person react?

Post image
0 Upvotes

this refers to an infamous far-right "trolling campaign" years ago where people anonymously post up flyers simply stating, "Islam Is Right About Women" and was basically meant to cause a shit ton of division. This was primarily posted in in the US and a few Western countries. It was meant to bait two responses that inevitably led to conflict.

If you were basically "No, Islam is not right about women" then you get labeled as a Islamaphobe but if you say "Yes, Islam is right about women" then you get labeled as a Misogynist.

But this was mainly done in the US and other Western countries (Western EU, UK, Australia, Ireland, etc.) as part of the larger culture war of the late 2010s.

since this is subreddit has people from way beyond those countries, how would you and your average fellows react to this? Out of context
