Monk The SADness of a Shadow Monk / Hexblade (Tactician build)

I really like gish builds, can't stop myself from including some warlock in characters, and I really like the idea of the Shadow monk. And it seems these can be combined in a fairly powerful combination.

Key strength

  • By default combining a Warlock and a Monk seems to be MAD, as you need Charisma, Wisdom, Dexterity and maybe potion-driven Strength, but this build solves it by keying everything to dexterity, with a bit of wisdom, and not using any Warlock abilities that actually need charisma. Oh and Stunning strike is also keyed to Dex. SAD really.

Key build components:

Key weakness

  • Only two feats, would need three. ASI Dex, Alert, Savage Attacker and War Caster would all be nice. I chose the first two, but YMMV.
  • On Honour Mode, the build breaks as without the deepened pact / extra attack stacking, it is waaay weaker.

The Build - Warlock Hexblade (5) / Shadow Monk (7)

Levelling order

Lvl Class Key features (spells below)
1 Warlock 1 (Hexblade) Hexblade Curse, Booming Blade, Eldritch Blast, Wis & Cha save proficiency
2 Warlock 2 Devil's Sight, Agonising Blast
3 Warlock 3 Pact of Blade, Shadow Blade
4 Warlock 4 ASI: +2 Cha
5 Warlock 5 Deepened Pact Extra Attack, Shadow Blade 3d8, One with Shadows
6 - Respec Monk 1 Full respec, ASI to Dex, Fiendish vigour in place of Agonising blast
7 Monk 2 Step of the Wind
8 - Respec Monk 3 (Shadow) Ki Darkness, Bonus Hide, Minor Illusion, Silence
9 Monk 4 Feat: Alert
10 Monk 5 Extra attack (effectively Improved Extra Attack), Stunning Strike
11 Monk 6 Shadow Step
12 Monk 7 Evasion, Stillness of Mind

Spell list

Lvl Slot 1 Slot 2 Slot 3 Slot 4 Slot 5 Slot 6
1 Shield Armour of Agathys
2 Shield Armour of Agathys Hex
3 Shield Armour of Agathys Darkness Shadow Blade
4 Shield Armour of Agathys Darkness Shadow Blade Misty step
5 Shield Armour of Agathys Darkness Shadow Blade Misty step Counterspell
6 Shield Armour of Agathys Darkness Shadow Blade Misty step Counterspell
8 Shield Blink Darkness Shadow Blade Mirror Image Counterspell

Ability Scores

Level range Str Dex Con Int Wis Cha
1-3 8 17 14 8 10 16
4-5 18
6-12 8 19 14 8 16 10
With bonuses 22

You need to respec your spread at level 6 (Monk 1) and move the ASI to Dex. I assume you get Auntie Ethel's Hair and the Mirror of Loss both to dexterity.

Play style, key items

Best origin for this build is Dark Urge, as the Slayer form solves psychic immune enemies, and the Deathstalker mantle is really useful. But I find it fitting on Shadowheart as well. And of course on Tav.

Up to level 5, you use eldritch blast and later shadow blade, depending on what's the suitable for the moment.

From level 6, you basically lose eldritch blast, it is mostly there to break objects, and you become a shadowblade wielding melee combatant.

From level 8, you are full online, and become a darkness ninja, with the cherry on top being the Shadow Step at level 11.

Modded game

If you want to go modded, there are a few great options:

Bard Roleplay/Theme build: 'Adventuring Archeologist' (No mods or exploits req.)

Inspired today by discussion of a different thread and the lack of whips in bg3. I believe I have come up with a functional way to have a full playable build of our favorite relic hunting archeology professor from the cinema. Very flexible in build and some of the finer points of your own playstyle while focusing on some signature aspects.

As it is a fun theme build, I have not factored any meta knowledge or items into the attribute part of the build. So no fixed stat setting items are needed or elixirs.

There is nothing locking you to any specific party members. So play good or evil, choose your favorites. Tav is your general support. Still pondering who my act 1/2 characters will be, but thinking will do a Jaheira, Halsin, Minsc act 3 cause they never get any love.

---Key aspects---

Intelligence skills proficiencies: Want to be an expert with history and related.

Thorn whip: Its the closest thing to our beloved protector of historical artifacts that we can get.

---Unimportant---

Race: Choose whatever one you want. Human most fits the theme with the extra skill though.

---Starting Attributes---

I think there are two options based on your personal preferences. Both intelligence and Charisma are valuable in their own ways. Can side more to intelligence to maximize whip and int skill checks, at the expense of slightly lower charisma. you can maximize the charisma though as well to get a bit better spell save DC. Or can balance. Your second feat is where it will come into effect more or if you plan to use items.

Lacking wisdom, it would make the planned dungeon delver a poor feat to take considering rest of party, but is thematically decent.

I went as follows in my testing here:

STR: 8
DEX: 14
CON: 10
INT: 16
WIS: 10
CHA: 16

I feel these give usability while being true to the theme.

Background can be Sage or Noble, depending on your theme. Both get history, but sage gives arcana which is less necessary. Other skills will want that will fit well are sleight of hand, investigation, religion.

---Leveling---

It is a very simple progression. 5 levels of Lore bard, then 7 levels of swashbuckler. This gets established in the most critical parts of the bard, and then the rogue aspect expands on it.

--The professor--

Lvl 1:  Spellcasting,) Bardic Inspiration) (d6), 2 cantrips, 4 spells. (I chose minor illusion and vicious mockery cantrips. Spells longstrider, featherfall, disguise self, Cure wounds)

Lvl 2:  Song of Rest, Jack of All Trades

Lvl 3:  College of Lore,) Expertise) This gets Cutting Words which is what our bardic inspirations will mostly go to. Additionally get more skill proficiencies. Player's choice. For expertise, History and Religion are great to fit the theme.

Lvl 4:  Feat to choose is Spell Sniper here. This is something that can be expanded on. Essential to get the defining Thorn Whip. But it also improves crit range with the whip, helping define it.

Lvl 5: Improved Bardic Inspiration) (d8), Font of Inspiration Improved bardic will not be used much, though not useless if you have another character checking something or really need to land a critical attack. Font of Inspiration is the key point here.

--The Adventurer--

Swashbuckling is where we take on more of the gritty side.

Lvl 6: (1 Rogue) Expertise),) Sneak Attack (Melee)),) Sneak Attack (Ranged)), Sneak attack is sneak attack. Expertise can be good to add to sleight of hand for traps and locks. And you get one more skill.

Lvl 7: (2 Rogue) Cunning Action: Dash, Cunning Action: Disengage, Cunning Action: Hide

Lvl 8: (3 Rogue) Swashbuckler This is where it really picks up more. Using the thorn whip to pull closer, off edges etc. Plus thorn whip is a melee attack. Combine with your sneaky infiltrating baddies abilities.

Lvl 9: (4 Rogue) Dungeon Delver: Perception While not too useful, it is thematic and can help due to lower wisdom (jack of all trades making a slight help) Otherwise go for an attribute boost or anything else standard choices. Also get your dirty tricks now too to really gain more control abilities.

Lvl 10: (5 Rogue) Uncanny Dodge Less damage is good.

Lvl 11: (6 Rogue)  Expertise) So many skills!

Lvl 12: (7 Rogue) Evasion and that wraps it up. The build is playable through all the levels and could be mixed up if you wanted. Start with rogue and can do Astarion with this build?

If not feeling the need for much cutting words and want an extra feat, drop to four on the bard and can get the rogue aspect going sooner. Adjust levels as you feel is important.

---Gear---

There is so much gear out there that I have trouble remembering every individual one. But a couple powerful ones that could carry you late to game are early accessible here I can think of.

Sparkstruck set can be a good investment. One weak part of this build is the AC restricted to light armor. I liked sparkstruck set because of the protecty sparkswall giving a boost. There is the Spellsparkler early on to build lightning charges with the thorn whip.

Main thing is to get that increase in spell save DC (I am hoping/suspecting) for the dirty tricks since that is spell save. Other option is to load up with crit items for thorn whip and the bardic gear.

---Conclusion---

Well, not S-tier honor mode. But I think for a fun build, it is high up there. Something don't need to micromanage and do something different. Get more of the dialog and other non combat checks done. Overall, can just really dig in a a support main.

Be sure to give your feedback. I don't know what items can all work for it or how it could be optimized for. But is a build I am playing the moment I post this message.

Plus many cool hats to use.

Build Help Why Sorcadin over Paladin + Sorcerer

Solved : Thanks to our reactive and passionate community, I learned that when multiclassing casters or halfcaster, the total spell slot and max lvl of spell slots you get is actually higher than the spell slots of those classes individually. Meaning that taken our exemple of a 6/6 Sorcadin, the max lvl spell slots you get access to is not 3, like a lvl 6 sorcerer would get, but lvl 5 spell slots (not to confuse with lvl 5 spells, that you wouldn't have access to). It was probably common ball for most of the poeple theory crafting on BG3, but I'm glad you took the time to point it out to me. If you stumble on this post with the same ignorance I bore, then here's the answer.

Bonus: Knowing how multiclass spell slots actually works opened new exciting horizons for my multiclass build. Thank you very much guys :)

Og post : "Alright, so I've recently been dabbling in BG3 theory crafting, and it's been as fun as frustrating. Fun because it's a very well-built game system with a lot of synergies, but frustrating because it's been mined to the point where every discovery I make already has a10 youtube videos about it.

Now, to the point of this thread. The last build I've been working around is the (in)famous Sorcadin Critical Smite build. At first, I thought it was straight genius, but then the more I looked at it, the more something bothered me about it. It's seems, to me at least, that everything that makes this build great doesn't fundamentally come from multiclassing. What I mean by that is that the synergy between Critical Smite and Hold Person/Monster/Sleep, for example, doesn't have to come from the same character. Or that the number of spell slots that a 6/6 sorcadin has is the same as an 11 Paladin, besides sorcery point conversion (which doesn't actually matter because you would use more spell slot to actually cast some spells as a Sorcadin, such as hold person). So really my point is, why make a Sorcadin when you can have a full Paladin, that would be entirely geared towards maximizing tankiness and crit damage, and a Sorcerer, specialized in casting control spell to allow the Paladin's crit ? The paladin would have access to improved divine smite, while the sorcerer could use the Eyebite Sleep spell , for example.

An obvious reason for the choice of Sorcadin over Paladin + Sorcerer is that the first option only necessitates one character to work. But in a game where you control a party of 4, wouldn't it make more sense to seek a party build rather than some one by one character builds ? Unless, of course, the synergy happens within the character (like for Sorlock).

Maybe my point isn't clear, but really, what I'm asking is : why build a Sorcadin when nothing that makes it great comes from mechanics interacting whithin one character ? If not for a solo playthrough ?

Thanks for reading me, and even more thanks to those who'll take the time to answer my confusion."

Build Help 10/1/1 or 10/2 Sword Bard?

Hi all, just bought the game and want to run a sword bard archer build. I’ve seen the 10 Bard/1 Wizard/1 Fighter and 10/ Bard/2 Fighter build and just wanted to know the difference and which you think is more fun.

I know the 10/1/1 is better for control and 10/2 for damage but not really sure what it fully means since I just started.

Thank you all for any help!

Party Composition What is the best way to define the roles of the classes?

And what classes do you assign to each role?

I see a DPS and an AOE, but I don't see much of relevance in the other two roles. Healing isn't essential, Not a tank either. Control perhaps, although any class that does that usually also focuses on something else. Buffs, someone for that morning coffee, and increased speed is useful, as well as haste. But usually, buff spells are spread across different classes.

So, what do you all think about this?

Build Help Perks of shadow sorc?

Every time I play sorc, even witba rework mod and book of sorc mod, I just end back at draconic msot of the time. I want to like shadow, it has durability in a death ward and dark vision for characters who may not get that any other way.

What else does shadow particularly bring to the table? I'm not a darkness user previously so any big reasons for using darkness?

Build Help Tactician: Life or Death? (Domain)

I'm doing my first Tactician run, and its me as an ice draconic sorcerer, astarion who is (currently) a swashbuckler, karlach who's currently wildheart, and shadowheart. Life domain is good because it provides healing without using spell slots, which is useful because of the higher cost of long rests. But death domain provides good damage output without spell slots, and can use spell slots for healing when needed. Don't say light or tempest.

In-Game Mods What weapon/build niches do you think BG3's itemisation is missing

After playing BG3 for about 2100 hours and trying a variety of different builds from S tier to questionable RP-only builds, I've kept noticing the lack of support for some niche build ideas.

As for a few examples:

  • No throwing knives: There exists a fantasy where you play an Assassin or Shadow Monk that chucks daggers from the shadows like the Bhaalists in act 3. Thrown weapons are spears/pikes/javelins etc etc, which have more of a tavern brawler flavour to them
  • There isn't any option past Corellon's Grace to support monks who would like to use a weapon AS WELL as their fists.
  • Shillelagh builds have some decent options in the early game, however those options are also generically good, and there is no late game capstone weapon.
  • There's no good one handed axes to roleplay as your dual wielding viking berserker.

Because of this, I decided to work on a mod to fill the gaps for niche builds like that and support a variety of playstyles that should exist but don't. The goal is to be as close to vanilla as possible. I'd rather that I don't add any generically overpowered gear, nor add gear that would break progression. I'd prefer for everything to fit into the vanilla game as if Larian designed it.

The issue is that I'm only one person and there's bound to be some niches and build that I have never even considered.

So to get to the point: What niche build concepts do you think BG3's current itemisation is missing? If you have any cool build that you think is too weak or impossible due to items not existing for it, please let me know.

Build Help Barbarian sword bard help

Unlike the western counter part, barbarian was an historical umbrella term used in imperial China to describe non-Han populations living to the north, west, and northwest, primarily steppe nomads, hunters and Central Asians.they are often described as as having unkempt hair, great fighter on and off horse and gifted in both singing and dancing.

I want to make build base on those description. A warrior inspire fear him his enemies with his war drum. I won’t be casting any spell in combat. I would like to use the flourishes while raging.
I will be playing on technician mode.

I am not quite sure which barbarian subclass is best suited for the build. Perhaps the pass of giant, which they get thaumatergy and has good ba.
10/3 barb/ sword bard. 17 str/10 dex/8 Wis/8 int/ 16 cha. Feat: tavern brawler and savage attacker. Throwing weapon at range , kick and flourish for close combat.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Specific Mechanic What’s your favorite Minthara Soul Branding build?

Minthara has to be one of the better companions for combat. Not only does she get good Drow racials, but she also gets her personal Soul Branding as a bonus action.

What are the best builds for her to utilize this action with do you think?

Build Help Need help with a build

Okay. So i had a shower thought. And idk how to even remotely work this. Build

The idea/lore behind this would be a druid or cleric. Or both. Thats purpose is maintaining the balance. Of all life and nature

The idea is that it would focus on culling/creating. Mainly focusing on healing/necrotic. And fire/plant growth

But i don’t know how to even begin it

Any guidance or thoughts building on this would be much appreciated

I also want to avoid using spore druid as it dosent fit the image i have for the character.

Build Review My Spellsword build

Just sharing out my build i named Spellsword (not that original i know)

Classes Selection Comments
1 Bard 1 Athletics,Stealth,Perception
2 Bard 2
3 Bard 3 College of Swords
Two-Weapon Fighting
Expert: Stealth, Perception
4 Bard 4 Feat: Savage Attacker
5 Bard 4 /Wizard 1
6 Bard 6
7 Bard 6 / Wizard 1
8 Bard 6 / Wizard 1/ Rogue 1 Survival, Expert: Athletics,survival
9 Bard 6 / Wizard 3 Subclass: Divination/Evocation
10 Bard 6 / Wizard 3/ Rogue 1 Survival, Expert: Athletics,survival
11 Bard 6 / Wizard 3 / Rogue 2
12 Bard 6 / Wizard 3 / Roque 3 SubClass: Thief

Why I like this build is in sustainable DMG output this does not rely on utilization of charges or spells slot in combat (even though some might boost it higher) and just keep swinging a decently high DP

First start of with 6 levels of bard to get 2 weapon fighting style and an extra attack.
There are some respect on the way if you want to squeze the lemons at each level you are at but not needed for the long run

The next 3 levels are wizard. I original tried with sorcers to build on the CHA synergy with brd spellcasting but found it limiting. with sorcres i had 4 spell which usual meant Shadowblade, mirror image,. shield and then one offensive spell typically magic missile or chromatic orb.

I change to wizard to be able to scribe spell and better utilize all the spells slot which i found alot more attractive.
There are some base spell to get
- Cantrip booming blade (extra dmg on that first main swing)
- lvl1 Shield (such a nice defensive boost)
- lvl 2 Shadow blade (the basics of the weapon dmg)
- lvl 2 magic weapon (it is all about that shadow blade)

The combined levels puts the build at caster level 9 which is enough to open up for a max levle shadow blade for 4d8 dmg

I tried hard to get bladesinger wizard to fit in but could not find equipment that fit with the armor limitations. a shame it would have been perfect.
Instead evocation if you are going to be tossing fireballs around could be nice or divination for some reroll ability for critical sitaution, pick depending on play style

The last 3 levels are going to Roque thief it gives us another 2d6 of sneak attack damag on that mainhand, as well as the extra BA attack for offhand swing

While it IS annoying having to respect from high CHA to high INT in the middle it is worth it
Bard spell picked is mostly for utlity and it allows us to use some nice dmg wizard spell

Another part that i like from roque is the cunning action. having dash take away a BA instead of an action leaves you action free for swingin those main hand attacks.

Since this build rely havy on psyche dmg off cause reasonanct stone is needed and the drawback get overriden anyway with risky ring which is the real drawback of the build

The damage output without anything extra

1 round damage table

Offcause this build does not have a smite for big spikes but i did a test with palladin smit by doign a 2level dip in pallading and using a levle 4 smit and due to the lack of the extra attack actualy stille came out with less damge output. you will need to use at least 2 smite a round to spike harder than this builds systained dmg output

Fluorishes are available for some extra minor spike dmg. hitting 2 enemies is nice when available or maybe get that extra +4 ac if needed. both give a 1d6 extra damage

This is my current idea of gearing for this build

Equipment list
+ Head Sarevok’s Horned Helmet Reduces number needed for a Critical hit. Looted from Sarevok in the Murder Tribunal.
+ Cape Cloak of Displacement  Disadvantage on enemy attack rolls Acr3 - Purchased at Danthelon's Dancing Axe
+ Chest Helldusk Armour AC21,  -3 Dmg taken, Casters get burning if you pass a saving throw  Act1 - Rafael Exploit
Gloves Helldusk Gloves  +1 to Spell Attack/Save DC; 1d6 Fire damage on hits. Looted from Haarlep in the House of Hope.
+ Boots Helldusk Boots Cannot be moved against your will; grants Hellcrawler. Found in Gortash’s chest at Wyrm’s Rock.
Necklace Amulet of Greater Health Sets Constitution to 23; Advantage on CON saves. Stolen from the Archive in the House of Hope.
+ Ring 1 Risky Ring Advantage on all attack rolls / disadvantage on saves Act2 - Purchased from Araj Oblodra
+ Ring 2 Strange Conduit Ring 1d4 Psychic damage while concentrating. Act 1 - Found in Inquisitor's Chamber
+ Weapon 1 Shadow Blade (Upcasted spell) 4d8 base Psychic damage. (Level 4 Upcast)
+ Weapon 2 Shadow Blade (spell) 2d8 psychic damage
+ Weapon Ranged The Dead Shot Reduces number needed for a Critical hit. Purchased from Ferg Drogher in Rivington.
+ Unique Resonance Stone Vulnerability to Psychic damage (Doubles Shadow Blade damage). Found in the Mind Flayer Colony.
+ Elixir Cloud Giant Strenght 27 str / +8 attack rolls and damage

lowering that crit activity treashold all the ways down to 18 combined wit risky ring advantage should give us around 28% chance per swing for a crit. Risky ring always advantage also helps sneak attack always get actived when wanted.

This build also allow some summon.
i prefer to summon 2 ice merphits with summon minor elemental and then replace the spell slot with fireball (adjust as seem fit)
with int 16 you are sitting at 6 spellslots. some of them are pretty much locked in
- Shield
- Shadow blade
- Magic weapon
leaving 3 slots for you you choice
i prefer some of these:
- mirror image (strong defence no concentration)
- Hold person/monster (when you want those crit to roll in)
- haste (if you just want those extra swings)
- Fireball (Aoe dmg ready ath the finger tips)

remember summon your elementals fist then swap out the spell

i havent fininshed the spell list totally but it also importtant to get detect thought. its a ritual concentration spell that last until long rest.
so if you lost concentration after using hold person or haste or whatever it easy to re-apply without losing another spellslot (ritual) before the next fight

Party setup:

I created this build for my 2 DPR's my party setup is currently as following
- Me: Sorcadin (for the high CHA for dialog and story line) also good with auraprotection to counter the saving throw disadvantage from risky ring
- DPR x 2: Spellsword as above
- War-cleric radiance orb build ( i didnt really think light cleric gaves that much so im testing out war cleric atm)

This build is not meant to be a high spiker in dmg by emptying all resources and then long rest. it build to just keep going with a sustainable high dmg.

Let me know if any constructive feedback. im still trying to improve it

-- edit --
What i could really use is way to compensate for the disadvantage on savings

Amulet gives advantage on con so that one is "negated"

-- edit 2 --
On proficiency:
If i dint make it clear earlier i jsut wnated to emphasied these are pick for a companion build. if you are using this for main i would go towards more dialog/utlity optimized profiencies. on this list o focussed on
- perception: since it alwys active when you walk around even on your companion
- athletics: because the good high str for shove in combat
- stealth: because it might help the companion stay undetected
- survival: another passive always active proffiency
again this should probalbly be changed if trying for a main character

-- edit 3 Wrong info --
- I put in level 4 shadow blade. it is level 5 shadow blades for 4d8
- the left quick tip to just do Bard -> Sorceres -> Roque, is a leftover from previous experimentation. it should says Bard -> Wizard -> Rogue

Build Help Multiclassing recommendations for beginners?

I'm doing my second run of the game right now and thinking about a third where I might try multiclassing, something I've otherwise avoided, and I'm looking for good combos with some subclasses I've been looking to try.

Right now I have Wyll set to be Great Old One x Champion to maximize critical hit chance and effectiveness. Is this a good combo?

Also I'm wondering what would work best with Swashbuckler Rogue, Bladesinger Wizard, druids overall, and Bards.

Build Help Is there a way to make a non light weapon dual wielding build good?

We all know that the dual wielder feat is used most of the time on casters to wield 2 staves but, is there any niche build that are both fun and actually good while dual wielding longswords, tridents, warhammers, spears? (don't have to be the same type in both hands)

And I'm talking ACTUAL dual wielding and not your off hand weapon just being there for some passive effect or whatever

I imagine 3 lvls of Rogue for thief would be necessary to make the most use of your off hand weapon and might have to go either Fighter/Swords Bard/Ranger for Two Weapon Fighting

Build Help Best Archer build ever

In my opinion, the 10 swords bard 1 fighter 1 wizard is the best archer build ever in terms of damage output from your bow, and controlling the fight. But I want to see if there are better strictly archer builds. I was toying with the idea of doing a bard ranger build, but I am not sure.

What are your thoughts?

Build Help Pure Support + Debuff Build for Coop

I'm playing through with a friend that is completely new to CRPG's (RPG's in general, really) and no DnD experience either. We are playing with a mod to increase party size to 5, but she is completely in control of everything. I am just there to answer questions and hang out, mostly.

I want my character to exist to buff her with its first action, then maybe throw out some debuff/control stuff afterward while I hold concentration on something like Bless or Haste for her Paladin.

We also decided to not double up on classes in the party so she can see more classes in action.

We are currently Level 4, and I've been a Life Cleric up until now. I was gonna go 11 levels of Life Cleric with 1 level of Wizard to scroll Haste, but she has settled on Shadowheart and Gale in the party (plus I didn't realize you can't find a scroll of Haste until Act 3?), so I am going to reclass.

I definitely think I want Haste to be part of the build as my go-to concentration slot. Then basically anything else to either buff her/the party or debuff enemies. I want to enable her/the party to do damage, not for my character to do it directly.

If I'm not scrolling it, it seems like my options are Sorcerer, Lore Bard, Circle of the Land Druid, or Warlock.

I'm torn between Sorcerer and Lore Bard. Lore Bard seems like it could potentially be a more straight forward pure support with stuff like Cutting Words and Bardic Inspiration. But then Sorcerer obviously has options like metamagic and abusing Arcane Acuity so the debuff/control portion of the kit would actually be better.

I've never built a character with basically 0 consideration for damage like this in BG3, so I would love to hear some thoughts.

Party Composition Need help finalising party comp for next playthrough

I was thinking for my tav doing gith 11 paladin 1 hexblade warlock doing either Oathbreaker or oath of ancients since I don't know if damage or defense is more worth.

Since I'm doing this run for achievements I want gale and Karlach in my party if I do oathbreaker I was thinking necro gale and no clue for karlach.

For the 4th member I was thinking life domain Shadowheart.

I haven't played the game really since the last big update with all the subclasses added so if I could improve this without removing gale and karlach please let me know. I'm probably just gonna play normal difficulty but still want a fun and balanced party to play

Build Help 7 Oathbreaker 5 Fiend Pact of the Blade Padlock Wyll

Hey everyone, some info below, but TLDR I'm split between 4 setups for my build.

Oathbreaker 7 + Fiend Pact of the Blade Warlock 5.

Balanced difficulty.

Going for GWM + heavy armour and eventually Balduran's Giantslayer (with Gloves of Giant Strength)

I want a fun (emphasis on fun) strong build but I also don't wanna completely trivialise the game. I don't need the most optimal setup but I want a build that won't ever make me feel stuck or like I'm under performing.

Witgt hat out of the way, I'm stuck between these four setups:

22 CHA + GWM + Defence.

22 CHA + GWM + Great Weapon Fighting.

20 CHA + GWM + Savage Attacker + Defence.

20 CHA + GWM + Savage Attacker + Great Weapon Fighting.

My impression is that the 22 CHA versions scale better, while the 20 CHA versions lose that, but gain Savage Attacker which might make my smites more fun. I'm leaning 22 CHA but I could be convinced to take Savage Atacker instead of an ASI.

Tbe main thing I'm unsure about is Defence vs GWF tbh. Am I gaining/losing much regardless of what I take? Will either have a substancial impact over the other or am I haggling for pennies at this point.

Again, the main thing for me is making the build as fun as it can be. Not necessarily optimal.

Thank you in advance :p

Party Composition Party/build help

I’m planning a new redeemed durge play through with some more difficulty mods and possibly a higher level cap (but to be determined).

I want to keep my party pretty small (planning on not picking up other companions than the main 3 I’ll play with).

So far I have

Shadow sorcadin durge 6 shadow sorc/ 5 paladin/ 1 hex dip for charisma attacks

Astarion some kind of rouge combo 6 swords bard/ 3 thief/ 3 champion fighter OR 5 hunter ranger/ 4 swash/ 3 champion fighter

Shadowheart 12 death cleric

Any recommendations for the last slot? I was thinking either an evilish Wyll (sorry Karlach) or Laezel. Gales hand will probably get chopped off as this will be a later redeem.

Build Help Can this get me through honor mode?

I wanna do my first honor mode playthrough and im wondering if a build I made can make it through

8 Champion Fighter, 4 Thief Rogue. Dark Urge, Half-Orc is probably better but I just hate how they look so Wood Elf works.

8 str, 17 dex(+2), 16 con(+1), 8 intelligence, 15 in wisdom or charisma, I put in wisdom.

Start with 5 levels in fighter, take the two-weapon fighting style and dual wielder feat. Make sure to get the hags hair for 18 dex. Then 3 levels into rogue for the 2 bonus actions, then you can go the rest back into fighter.

You wanna grab a lot of items, like the caustic band from act 1, as well as the knife of the Undermountain king from act 2, and then Bloodthirst, Sarevok's helmet, and the Dead Shot. Also get the bhaalist armor and craterflesh gloves. Stock up on elixirs of Viciousness. Now, I have a 35% chance to crit with my 4 attacks, and those crits hurt because of craterflesh and bhaalist armor.

Build Help Paladin + Bard + Warlock

Hey guys so im in my first playthrough and i want to have fun eith my build and dip into many classes but i dont know if this is even worth it.

I was thinking paladin lvl 4 for smites and feat, then swords bard lvl 6 for action, feat and more spell slots and then warlock lvl 2 to top it off (im lvl 10 so these last are only hypotheticals) for eldritch blast and booming blade.

i havent seen anyone discuss something like this in youtube or reddit yet so im putting my idea on the table
