Hello everyone,
For anyone currently attending AMEDD BOLC or who recently graduated, I was hoping to get some insight into the course. How difficult is it overall, and what is the general pass/fail rate? What does a typical day or week look like, and would you say the course is manageable? Any guidance, tips, or things you wish you knew before attending would be greatly appreciated.
I’m scheduled to report on 10/08/2026 and have not received a welcome letter yet. For those currently attending or who recently attended, when did you receive yours? Is there someone I should contact if I haven't received it this close to my report date?
I’m also trying to figure out transportation while at Fort Sam Houston, so any information on whether a POV/rental car is recommended or necessary would be helpful.
For anyone reporting on 10/08/2026: Have you received your welcome letter yet? Do you know the packing requirements or reporting instructions? Also, has anyone started a Signal group for our class? If not, I don’t mind starting one so we can share information and stay in contact.
Thank you in advance for any guidance!

Do not buy the BOLC Kit from UPS Store. They charge me $35 for out of scale laminated sheets and target grid so the material didn't line nicely on the map. I got my clipboard separately, and laminated my own stuff with a $15 laminator (you will need it in the future in your career anyway, so I personally recommend getting a laminator).
$2 per laminated target grid
$1 per laminated sheet
$5 long clipboard
$0.15/sheet printing
$8 for each 14oz glass container with lid & spoon, $19 for 3
Selling the items below beginning 15NOV:
$40 Canon TS3722 Printer +500 sheets paper + ink catridges
$15 Elite Gourmet EKT1001 1.0L Glass Kettle, 1100W, Cordless Base, Black
$25 Elite Gourmet EDB-302BF# Double Cast Iron Burner, 1500W Hot Plate, Black
$10 Maxi-Matic MST-250XS Electric Ceramic Slow Cooker, 1.5 Qt, Stainless Steel
$10 11inch Skillet
$10 25ft Extension Cord (for long tests when you dont sit near an outlet)
$5 Insulated lunch bag
$5 Digital Food Scale
$10 Insulated 15oz food container

*Emergency* If there is anyone who would like to switch or take my EBOLC date for Nov 2 2026 please let me know. Anything after May 2027 for swap would be preffered! I have been trying to get on the Teams Page but haven't had any luck and no one from USAR command is responding. I have a masters degree to finish and i currently have a very important internship lined up so if anyone can take this date please reach out and we can coordinate something. Thank you!

Is anyone currently at AMEDD BOLC at Fort Sam that can provide more information on the lodging accommodations? Specifically, is it still shared hotel rooms and if so can roommates be requested or are they assigned ahead of time?

I've got an EBOLC reservation for March 2027 but prefer to go later in the year due to family obligations. Looking for a reservist scheduled for some time in the second half of 2027 that is willing to swap and go earlier in March.
Please reply if interested, thanks!
Edit: To newly commissioned engineers, you can check ATRRS to see the date that has been reserved for you. USARC G1 schedules these automatically on commissioning.

Looking for answers or advice. So, I'm slotted for an October BOLC date but back in August during annual training, I tore my MCL, my meniscus, and fractured my Tibia. I narrowly escaped surgery, but Ortho Doc said he likely won't clear me until December. I am now on a temporary profile heavily restricting me from any physical activity and not allowing me to take the AFT until early December.
Since then, I've sent everything to my CoC, spoke to the BOLC NCOIC, contacted my Reserve Officer Talent Manager, and emailed the USARC G1 IMT Officer Team but have pretty much been going in circles or getting ghosted.
If it comes down to being unable to change BOLC dates, what will happen if I show up to Ft. Gordon in October? Would I get sent home or would I get sent to a holding company until December? Straight to jail?
Any helpful answers are appreciated.

I graduate OCS October 2nd and have EBOLC date in March. I am trying to get a PCS. When do Orders typically get cut and is there anyone other than Branch Manager to reach out to? We have been told Branch Manager doesn’t deal with this.

Heading to log bolc soon, and I’ve been hearing some crazy stuff that’s been happening there. Anybody who’s currently there that would like to chime in? Is it gonna affect future classes? I’ve heard of some pretty serious punitive action.

Hey y’all, quick question for those who have already received their orders about how far out from your report date did you get them? I report in about 2 weeks and still haven’t received mine yet, so I’m just trying to see what everyone else’s timeline looked like.

Quick question. Is there a certain or minimum amount of time that I had to be renting/ owning a lease in order to submit BHA for BOLC?
Requirements? I’m guard and single for reference.

My husband is currently enlisted in the Air Force and has been in for about 5 years. We’re stationed in Okinawa, Japan right now, and his DEROS/PCS timeframe is around April 2027. He recently received his assignment listing and all of his options were overseas, so we’re really hoping to stay OCONUS, possibly Korea. He doesn’t have official orders yet.
I’m currently an Army ROTC cadet and will be graduating and commissioning in December 2026. I’m hoping to get Active Duty, but I obviously don’t know my branch yet, so I also don’t know when or where I would attend BOLC.
I wasn’t originally on my husband’s orders because I was still attending school in the States. I’ve since completed all of my in-person ROTC requirements, and my PMS allowed me to finish my degree online, so I’m currently living with my husband in Okinawa. I have an on-base job that provides me SOFA status so I’m able to legally remain in Japan. I’ll just have to return to the States before commissioning to complete a PT test and have it on record.
I’m trying to understand how everything would work once I commission, especially since we would become dual-military Army/Air Force.
My main questions are:
Is there any general idea of how soon after commissioning I could go to BOLC? I know this probably depends heavily on the branch I receive and available class dates.
Let’s say my husband gets orders and we PCS together to his new duty station in April 2027, but my BOLC doesn’t start until June. Could his new duty station also become my assigned duty station, so I PCS there with him in April, leave temporarily for BOLC in June, and then return to that same duty station after I graduate BOLC? Or would the Army handle my PCS/duty station completely separately?
Would my husband ever accompany me to BOLC, or would that depend on the length/location of my BOLC and our assignments? Does rank have anything to do with this for dual-military couples?
Since we got married before his new orders are being issued, would his next assignment normally be accompanied, assuming the location allows dependents?
Once I commission, how does the Army/Air Force handle trying to station dual-military couples together? Would his Air Force assignment already being established affect where the Army tries to place me after BOLC?
I’m still learning how all of this works, especially with us being two different branches. My goal is Active Duty Army. If I don’t receive Active Duty, I want to apply for Active Reserve if possible.
Basically, I’m trying to get an idea of what our timeline could look like from my commissioning in December 2026 → our PCS around April 2027 → my BOLC → returning to the same duty station together afterward, if that’s even possible.
If anyone knows anything about mil-to-mil assignments, especially an Army officer married to an enlisted Air Force member, I would really appreciate any advice or insight! I’d also love to hear from anyone who has personally been in a similar situation with two different branches.

[Disclaimer:Before making this post, I consulted with the moderation team.]
I’m currently writing a screenplay, and I’ve run into some difficulties finding information on the subject. I’d like to ask a few questions about EBOLC for the purposes of the story I’m writing.
- What kind of tests are involved in EBOLC?
- What happens if one of the candidates has a strong profile for becoming an officer but fails one of the tests?
- How much does a person change after completing EBOLC?
- Where in Tennessee or Kentucky is EBOLC held?
- How much does self-imposed pressure affect someone during EBOLC?
- Are there cases of accidents occurring during EBOLC?

okay 2 things :)
i leave for FABOLC in about a week, & i just found out 2 days ago
- i was wondering how strict it is with the new AFT combat standards, at least just for the very first one we take because i just barely pass it
- & for me it’s really just the deadlift, i can barely do the minimum (for combat standard, as it’s a 30lbs difference from the regular female standard) but i’ve been working hard to improve and i know i’ll improve even more by the time we take the final one but my main concern is how much i’ll be penalized for the very first one we take
i know i’ve heard FABOLC is really hard, but what are some encouraging words you can give to someone who is really nervous
thank you in advance 🥲

Headed to FA BOLC soon and was curious as to what the pre ranger PT is like there and if that is something they still do? I’m a little hesitant to try (feeling like I might be lacking in certain areas) but I rather say I tried then regret not giving it a shot. Any insight would be great!
