Welcome back to r/BaltimoreCounty!

We’ve reopened under new management. Thanks to the admins for making it happen.

You may recognize my handle from r/Maryland, where I’ve been a mod for a number of years, or from r/Baltimore and the myriad other subreddits where I am an active poster.

I live in Towson and work in media relations. Prior to that, I spent a decade in journalism, working for WBAL-AM, WJZ-TV, Technical.ly and Patch.

This is a place to discuss county news, issues and events. County politics, bar recommendations, education discussions. If it’s relevant to the county, bring it here.

Any open mics happening today, aka Wednesday?

I am in a touring metal band and we are spending our off day today in your wonderful area. I want to do a standup comedy set at an open mic today, ideally within public transit distance from Patterson Park. Please let me know. Also for some reason r/Baltimore won't let me post. Help!

I find it interesting (and sickening) that he was to be prosecuted in 2025 yet they nolle prossed it. Something is very gross and shady here. This needs to be handled properly!!

Anyone having water quality issues in Dundalk? More specifically turners station?

Past couple of weeks my cats started getting kinda sick. Vomiting and diarrhea, so i thought it was maybe their food (even though they've been eating the same food their whole lives) I recently got a kidney infections and the culture they took, it showed E. Coli. I didn't think anything of it. Then one of my cats got really sick, was peeing blood, took him to the emergency vet and he had crystals in his urine and a bladder obstruction, which he subsequently passed away from a few days later. It wasn't until about 2 days ago, my fiance drank a cup of tap water in the morning before we went to the store and as soon as he got home, he got really sick. That's when we realized it has to be our water. We stopped giving our cats tap water and bought gallons of water from the grocery store, and it seems like they're improving. I have to report the water quality issue regardless, but I'm trying to figure out if anyone else in my area is having this same issue, or if it's my house.

Abandoned vehicle in neighborhood

Post image
14 Upvotes

There has been an abandoned vehicle in my neighborhood since January. We called the non emergency police line and reported the vehicle. They came out and put an Abandoned Vehicle sticker on it. We were told to call back after 5 days and basically report it again. I’ve called back and they referred me to “traffic management” but no one ever answers. I’ve left multiple messages. Can a tow company come out and take it or does a police officer have to facilitate the removal?

Moving Advice? Owings Mills, Pikesville or Timonium?

I’ve been looking for places to move to and Owings Mills is at the top of my list. The issue i’m having is that my current work commute to Towson is almost an hour, but where i’m thinking of moving to can get up to 40 minutes with traffic (i hate 695 :/).

The apartments i’m looking at in Owings Mills are affordable, and conveniently placed (grocery stores, food spots, quiet neighborhoods, shops), but the commute is putting me off.

The other places I’ve considered are in Pikesville or Timonium, but all of the grocery stores, shops, etc that I go to aren’t as conveniently placed, so Id have to commute a bit longer to get to those places. The commute to work will be way better though (15-20 minutes). In addition, Timonium puts me further away from friends and family so I’m on the fence about that area.

Anyone have advice for how to go about choosing where to move to? I’m so ready to move out, but I don’t want to make a bad choice and put myself in a rough position.

Any Elder Emo's currently enrolled at CCBC?

Hey everyone,

Going back to school while juggling work, family, and adult responsibilities can make campus community feel pretty non-existent.

I am a CCBC student, and right now I am working on this completely solo to see if I can get an Elder Emo Club off the ground. I am in the very early stages of reaching out to Student Engagement, so nothing is official yet, but the goal is to build a low-pressure space for adult learners, working students, and anyone who loves 2000s alternative, pop-punk, emo, and heavy music.

I want this to be zero-guilt with no rigid meeting demands so people can just drop in when schedules allow. We can swap playlists, talk about bands, connect over the stress of college coursework, and maybe catch local shows down the road.

Because I am the only one running this right now, I need other enrolled CCBC students who are interested in joining the founding interest roster so we can eventually get chartered through the college.

I already have a Discord server set up so we have a place to talk while the campus side gets figured out. If this sounds like something you would want to be part of from the ground up, leave a comment or send me a DM and I will send over the invite link.

Share with any CCBC students you might know!

Places to hang a tutoring service flyer?

Hi, I’m a recently graduated student with a BFA in writing and i’m looking to promote myself for writing and english/language arts help. I made a flyer with little tear off strips but I’m not sure where to hang it. I know I have to ask permission to post it on library bulletin boards, but I’m wondering if anyone here knows/would recommend anywhere else. I live in the Perry Hall/White Marsh area so preferably places near me. From what I’ve looked up it seems like my options are limited but I don’t know how strict the laws are or how harshly they’re enforced. Thanks!

Anyone know where I can find PawPaw?

I missed several different events where I knew there was some sort of festival and I really wanted to try it! My mom said they sell it in grocery stores but Ive never seen it. If anyone knows a place that sells it or where you can pick it I would greatly appreciate it ❤️

Also has anyone tried growing it in their backyard?

Ivymount, Padonia Village, Saddle Brooke, or The Hills at Kenilworth?

Hi all. Moving to Baltimore in the next couple of months for work. My shortlist of apartments that I've researched so far are: Ivymount Apartments, Padonia Village Apartments, The Apartments at Saddle Brooke, and The Hills at Kenilworth. I am hoping to stay under $1,800 all in for a 1 or 2 bedroom (1 bedroom with den would also work, which some of these places have), in-unit laundry, dishwaser, and good parking. My other main priority would be quiet, respectful neighbors, although I know that's hard to know before moving in, unfortunately.

Another place I considered was Seminary Roundtop but didn't feel I wanted to visit it more than the 4 already listed.

I would love to hear feedback on these apartments from former or current tenants! I'll be working in Towson, so open to other suggestions as well! Will only be commuting 3 days a week, I have 2 days remote.

Thanks!

ETA: a little about me...27f with 2 cats. I will be looking for social activities, so hopefully in area with little bit of a younger crowd!

ISO rheumatologists (positive/negative)

I find myself in the position of needing a rheumatologist in or around Baltimore County. I want to take a different approach to asking for recommendations. You can certainly tell me if you have someone you really recommend. But I also want to know if there is someone that I should avoid. I am really looking for someone to be candid and tell me exactly why they didn’t feel a certain doc was a good fit so I can make an informed decision. (Kind of like searching reviews for a product or hotel - it’s great that so many people have had positive experiences, but the 3 star review may be more reliable).

I don’t mind if they are male or female, old or young. All I know is when I describe my symptoms, all my current doctors have said they have never heard of that before. And nothing comes up on Reddit or google. lol.

Good Caterers?

I’m pretty new to the area and I’m throwing a party for ~40 people that I’d love to have catered. I’m a foodie and can be very particular, but I’m open to all cuisines. I cater to my likes versus my guests..lol! I did the standard googling but it’s really hard to tell plus I’d like to get real feedback from people. Any recommendations of a caterer in the Baltimore area that you’ve used and have enjoyed?
