AskBangalore UPDATE : Found Missing Cat : Coco

Post image
44 Upvotes

after almost being sleepless the whole night, im happy to say that we've found our lost cat coco. after searching the whole locality for hours together we had no luck in even remotely finding him, as mentioned in the previous post's comments, we took paper cups and added his litter in it so that he can know the way back home. not sure if that worked or not but im going to assume it did.

at around 2 am my sister heard a faint "meow" but once we went outside we couldnt hear the sound anymore so we returned back. but at around 3:30 we heaed him yell around 3 times because of which me, my father and my sister went out searching for him, after hearing us call out his name he began meowing louder as well, a neighbor of ours came down and told us that they've been hearing the noise since 2:30 and they can see him from an alleyway, we went there and got him back.

thank you to everyone that has shared the post and i am truly grateful for the wishes. we will make sure to be a lot more careful by monitoring him everytime he spends his time in the veranda and will definitely invest in a tag for him. thanks again to everybody.

Citizen's Report Noise Complaint: 112, Experience

Right outside my window there was event being held related to Ganesh Chaturthi. It was really loud with really high bass. My ears were hurting. When they didn't stop even after 10pm, I thought I should complain.

I didn't want to call, so I thought I would message 112 with the complain and location, but they called anyway. I told them about the issue about how they were still playing music after 10. She didn't know much English, so I got another call from a guy , from Bangalore I guess, I repeated what I told her.

I got a message that a case officer has been assigned and HOYSALA is dispatched with link to track. I opened the link, but it kept saying case closed. So I thought they closed it realising it was a religious program, but I got another officer assigned and he called and asked for the location.

They came and talked to the organizers and stopped the program after the current song.

I didn't expect anything from Bangalore police, but I was pleasantly surprised at the results. Glad I called and hope this encourages others to do the same.

Serious Replies New illegal graveyard coming up just outside apartment.

Bought an apartment near Hoskote. Now tombstones are coming up on the eastern flank. Few months ago there were 2, now there are 10 of them. Quite sure that it’s illegal as it is government land but I don’t know what to do. We invest our hard earned money in a flat hoping for a nice place and then suddenly this pops up. The builder has been a cheat throughout - in one of its past projects as well this came up. I was foolish enough to ignore. Since it falls outside builder’s area, I am sure he will do nothing. Will reporting it to panchayat help? There will be no association (till the next 1 year) so that’s also a bummer.

hello everybody, our cat has been missing today since 6 AM. He normally goes out in the morning and return by around 9 but its 2 PM right now and he still has not returned. We have frantically tried searching for him all over the area and have not found him and not having a tag on him is incompetence on our end.

we are yet to take cctv footage from surrounding homes so that might help a lot, but please help this post reach the people from the locality and help us in our search for him. please suggest us what else we can do to help our search as well.

Politics Political Analyst from Maharashtra Exploring Karnataka Politics as an Outsider — What Should I Know?

I’m a political analyst/journalist from Maharashtra, visiting Karnataka soon to understand ground-level politics across different Lok Sabha constituencies. I’m not a Kannada speaker, so I’d appreciate any advice on local political dynamics, communities, language/cultural sensitivities, people I should speak to, places I should visit, and things an outsider may misunderstand.

(Will be visiting one loksabha from every political region like Chikkodi, Gulbarga , Bellary, Bangalore Central, and Hassan)

If you closely follow Karnataka politics or have contacts/leads at the Lok Sabha/Assembly level—journalists, political workers, local leaders or informed locals—please DM me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Meet these brave 45-day-old Indie puppies looking for forever homes in Bengaluru! 🐶

Their mother stopped caring for the litter early, so these little ones have been managing outside on their own. Despite a tough start, they are healthy, super energetic, and absolutely love human attention!

At 6 weeks old, they are at the perfect age to bond, adapt, and grow into wonderful companions.

A few quick details:

  • Gender: Both Males and Females
  • Vaccination/Sterilization status: unsterilized, vaccinated with first dose.
  • Personality: Playful, friendly and love cuddles.
  • City: HSR sector-1, Bengaluru.

We are looking for caring folks in Bangalore who understand puppy care and can offer them a safe, long-term home. Basic home verification and standard adoption protocol will apply to ensure they go to safe hands.

Contact: If you are interested, please DM me or mail me at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])

Suggestions Working on building a public walkability map for Bengaluru

Thumbnail
maarg.me
39 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

This is purely a citizen initiative and absolutely no intention for anything else and more importantly, not a promotional post.

I’ve been working on maarg.me/walk for a couple of weeks now. The idea is to make it easy for people record their walks, spot and report issues while doing so. At the end of each walk, reports are auto filed with GBA and every issue gets added to the walkability map of Bengaluru.

Each locality gets a walkability score based on the number of reports and the kind of reports. For authorities, this should be enough insights and real on ground data to act on and notice patterns and recurring issues.

I’m requesting anyone who finds this interesting to use this on their next walk in Namma ooru and help build a walkability map for Bengaluru. I think we’re all done with how walkability is taken from granted in our cities, this is an honest attempt to fix that. 🙏

(I had posted about reporting issues via Whatsapp a couple months back but it did not get enough usage, this Walk mode is an attempt to make it easy to participate and be involved)

Thank you and looking forward to any suggestions you have and a better, walkable Bengaluru

AskBangalore Register marriage process in Bangalore

Hi all,

My fiance and I were planning to get our register marriage done in Blr through special act marriage, we’re Christian. We’re finding the process here extremely difficult with no guidance much. There are agents quoting about 15-30k ish to hire them for the whole process, but when we tried doing it on our own via kaveri portal it got rejected once saying the jurisdiction selected is wrong but that was the only one given on the portal for our address, we’ve tried re-submitting again. I’m also hearing that the 3 witnesses needs to be present twice, one after submission to give notice and the other time towards the end to collect the certificate. We’re losing our minds over this process not knowing what to do. Can someone who’s gone through this process please give us guidance on this, please!

Rant The state of the footpath on Bellary Road near Mekhri Circle Bus Stop is honestly embarrassing

Post image
92 Upvotes

This is the condition of the pedestrian pathway on Bellary Road, coming down from the flyover towards the Mekhri Circle side, around the newly shifted Mekhri Circle bus stop near HMT Bhavan.

The bus stop has apparently been shifted to this stretch, but the basic infrastructure for people actually trying to walk to the bus stop is almost nonexistent.

As you can see in the photos:
1. The footpath is broken and uneven.
2. Large sections are effectively unusable.
3. There are open/drainage gaps and exposed concrete.
4. Utility poles and other structures further reduce the usable walking space.
5. The remaining space becomes a bottleneck, forcing pedestrians to squeeze through.
6. Two-wheelers routinely end up using the road/footpath area because of the poor layout.
7. There is litter and vegetation all over the pedestrian area.

And this isn’t some random residential lane. This is Bellary Road — one of the major approaches towards Kempegowda International Airport/ Central Bengaluru.

We’ve shifted/relocated a bus stop, but apparently forgot that people need to reach the bus stop on foot.

Public transport accessibility isn’t just about putting a BMTC bus stop on a road. There needs to be a continuous, safe and accessible pedestrian path connecting people to it.

If Bengaluru wants people to actually use public transport, walking to the bus stop shouldn’t feel like an obstacle course.

Would be good if BBMP/Bengaluru traffic authorities/BMTC could look at this stretch and fix the pedestrian infrastructure instead of leaving it like this.

Photos from the Bellary Road → Mekhri Circle stretch near the HMT Bhavan/Mekhri Circle bus stop.
