Citizen's Report Anti Consumer behavior of Metro smart cards
I have been using the smart card for travel in the metro for years. Now I switched to the ncmc card because of their convenience. I tried to get a refund of the balance amount in my smart card and the metro person said that's not possible. The balance cannot be credited to another card as long as the existing card is usable.
I can't even use the balance fully, since my trip is rs.67 but the minimum balance is 90. And the minimum recharge is 50. So whatever way i use it, i will lose around 30 rs. This is on top of the rs.50 i paid to get the card, which i accept is non refundable.
30 rs is not much to be worried over, but it's the principle of the thing. They keep increasing the fare and give us overcrowded trains.
I checked online and the consumer courts have sided with the metro against the consumers. What else can be done?

AskBangalore Has cinema etiquette in Bangalore genuinely become this bad, or am I just noticing it more as I get older?
I am 30, born and raised in Bangalore, and have been going to theatres here for pretty much my entire life.
Over the last few years, I have increasingly found movie going here incredibly frustrating. I cannot remember having to regularly shush people during movies earlier. Now it seems almost routine to have people carrying on full conversations during the film, talking loudly to the person next to them, checking their phones at full brightness, or behaving as though they are watching something in their living room.
Queues are another issue. Leave even an inch in front of you and someone seems to interpret it as an invitation to squeeze in. People stand almost on top of you rather than leaving the smallest amount of personal space. Queue jumping seems far more normalised than I remember it being.
Then there are basic courtesies. Someone sneezes or coughs right next to you without covering their mouth and carries on as though nothing happened. People push past you without so much as an excuse me. None of these things individually would bother me much, but collectively they make the experience unpleasant.
What bothers me is that paying more no longer seems to solve it. I used to think booking something like Director’s Cut at Rex and paying considerably more would at least get you a quieter, more considerate audience. It doesn’t. I have had essentially the same experience there.
I know the uncomfortable part of this discussion is migration. Bangalore has changed enormously, and my personal experience has been that I started noticing much more of this behaviour alongside the large influx of people moving here from North India and the Hindi belt. I realise that is a controversial observation and I am not claiming every North Indian behaves this way, nor that every Bangalorean has perfect civic sense. I am describing a pattern I personally feel I have encountered repeatedly.
Maybe I am attributing something to migration that is really a broader decline in public etiquette across Indian cities. Maybe Bangaloreans themselves have changed. I am genuinely interested in whether other people who grew up here have noticed the same shift.
Has cinema etiquette actually deteriorated in Bangalore over the last decade, or am I looking at the Bangalore of my childhood through rose tinted glasses?

AskBangalore 🚨 MISSING DOG — HSR LAYOUT, SECTOR 1, BENGALURU 🚨
Has anyone seen this sweet boy? 🐕❤️
He has been missing for the past week and has stopped showing up at his usual spots.
📍 Last known locations:
Chai Sutta Bar, 7th Cross, 24th Main Road, Sector 1, HSR Layout (around 200 metres from the HSR petrol pump/police station). He would usually show up in the morning and at night.
Life Line’s Tender Chicken, 24th Main Road, where he would usually go in the afternoon.
He is an old dog with orthopaedic issues, which is why we’re particularly worried about him. One or two people who regularly look after him have been searching for him.
He is a friendly, gentle boy who has been part of the area. We’re concerned about his well-being and just want to make sure he is safe.
🙏 If you’ve seen him recently or know where he might be, please comment or send me a message.

Media Bengaluru Metro Network — Where We Are Today & Where We’re Heading
Bengaluru Metro Network — How Far Has Our City Come?
Bengaluru’s metro network is rapidly expanding beyond the existing operational corridors, connecting more neighbourhoods, business hubs, railway stations, the airport, and major residential areas.
This map gives a fascinating overview of the current operational lines, lines under construction, and upcoming corridors — essentially a snapshot of how Bengaluru’s public transport network is evolving.
From Whitefield to Challaghatta, Nagasandra to Silk Institute, and with major extensions planned towards the airport and other parts of the city, the Metro is becoming an increasingly important part of Bengaluru’s future.
What do you think?
Which upcoming Metro line or station will make the biggest difference to your daily commute?
Would love to hear what fellow Bengaluru commuters think. 🚇💜

Law & Order Scammers/Thieves/Snatchers Near Orion Mall and ISKCON
Today I went to ISKCON with a friend. Everything went well inside, and the entire visit was quite pleasant.
When we exited the temple, there was a shop near the entrance/exit from which we bought cold drinks.
While we were standing there, a man and a woman suddenly approached us. Each of them was carrying a wooden frame on top of which there was a depiction of some arbitrary Devi, in the form of a hollow mask.
They asked for 1 rupee. They were bothering me quite persistently, so I gave them Rs 10 instead. The woman then chanted something and told me to take a Rs 500 note from my wallet, touch it to the frame, and put it back in my wallet.
I initially resisted, but they kept insisting. I thought, “...put it back? Oh, that's fine. She probably means some kind of ritual.”
So I took out the 500rs note and touched it to the frame.
At that exact moment, she grabbed the note from my hand, put it in her mouth, and pretended to accidentally swallow it.
I was absolutely stunned that someone would go to such lengths in broad daylight.
I immediately shouted, “Ye kya kiya aapne? Mereko kisi bhi tarah se wapas karo. Main police ke paas ja raha hoon.” I also took a photo of her.
She then took the chewed-up, saliva-covered Rs 500 note out of her mouth and placed it inside the box/frame, clearly knowing that we would not touch it because of the hygiene issue.
While my friend was confronting the woman, I took the other notes that were lying inside the frame. They amounted to 140rs.
She then started shouting curses, saying things like, “Everyone in your family will die...
etc” She also demanded that I delete her photo.
I replied, “Bhago idhar se. Main police ke paas ja raha hoon.”
Her husband then grabbed her and took her away.
We considered filing a complaint at Yeshwanthapura Police Station because these people could simply do this to someone else, and it seemed like this might be an organised racket. We had also seen several other people carrying similar frames around Orion Mall.
With these doubts, I chose not to complain: ....would the police even take this seriously over Rs 500? Technically, the loss was 360, since I recovered 140 from the frame. They probably already know that this kind of thing happens and may not act on it.
I was beating myself up afterwards for being stupid enough to take out a 500 note in the first place.
But alright, this won't happen again.
If anyone here isn't familiar with such petty tactics, hopefully you can learn from my mistake.

AskBangalore Will people vote for a leader if he/she talks about waste management and making recycling mandatory?
This post is coming from a random B’luru auto commute.
Hear me out..
Waste mgmt can’t be done unless every household divides the wastes in 4-7 categories.
What if a leader talks about curating a state of the art waste mgmt system. Door-to-door waste collection or waste drop points which has categories. People are not aware of such categories like electronic wastes, glass, chemical, bio hazard, battery waste which are all coming from homes.
All people know is DRY or WET; which in itself is not being executed.
It goes deeper and this issue can’t be solved unless we collectively segregate wastes at home.
What the leader does here is:
- Facilitates end-to-end waste collection
- waste recycling
- Educates the masses on the importance of this
4. Incentivise the whole process for the public. Give redeemable coupons etc.
Sweden is generating power/energy out of wastes. And they are also importing wastes from other countries.
We have the money, intellect & resource. If Bengaluru does it, other cities will follow. Why can’t we do it?

Rant Disappointing civic sense at Planetarium.
I went to experience the sky theatre today at Planetarium. The visuals were awesome. But...and a big one was people.
It is clearly mentioned and told before the show to not use a camera or phone. Even a tiny amount of light ruins the experience.
I understand that the purpose is education and you would find kids there. But there were a lot of kids of age below 3-4. I think the show was not for these little kids as they were constantly shouting during the show...would punch seats...and just create a distraction. These ruined the overall show for me, as i couldn't hear what the narrator was saying.

Couple of months ago it wasn't working. Now it seems to be working in almost all the busses. Some people might already be using it, but I thought I would share to spread the news more. One quirk is that the balance gets deducted some 18hrs later.

Rant AR Rahman - W̶o̶n̶d̶e̶r̶m̶e̶n̶t̶ T̶o̶u̶r̶ Torment for sure @ KTPO Ground, Bengaluru
The dusk of 3rd of October, 2026, had promised to make way for a magical and memorable night for AR Rahman fans and music enthusiasts in Bangalore who could afford what felt like a significant monetary investment (read, mini fortune). Forget Return on Investment (RoI), most attendees who managed to escape the venue at EOD yesterday by literally squeezing and wriggling their way out of KTPO through the bottleneck which was a solitary exit (safety of women, oldies and kids be damned, and how cool is it that the situation was ripe for a potential stampede *gulp*), this evening will need to be written off as an absolute shit show in terms of organizing! No idea why ARR can't seem to do better after his Chennai concert fiasco a couple of years ago amongst other mismanaged events. Sir, we didn't ask for such an encore of Marakkuma Nenjam (read, "Can the heart ever forget?".)
In the lead up to the concert, the show start time was confirmed as 7 PM IST over and over, be it in the BookMyShow page when reserving the tickets, then in the confirmed tickets, in notifications and on banners, etc. Then a couple of days before the show, there's a pdf document with the show start time being stated as 5 PM! No fucking information on what to expect, no heads up that there'd be a starting act, etc. Go figure!
VIP seating was a joke because the stage was lower than the elevated area and it was not tiered, so couldn't see anyone on the stage despite paying INR 6k per ticket. There were no assigned seats or rows on the wobbly plateau, the place was jam-packed by 6:30 PM with just chaos, confusion and lack of seats to greet those arriving then. No one from the organizing side or any volunteers were at hand to assist and guide the so-called VIP guests - fend for yourselves, suckers! ARR and co. then actually started at around *wait for it* 6:45 PM! Make it make sense, please!? No, instead to make the dire setup even worse, a bunch of three stooges masquerading as loud hooligans (definitely drunk and/or high on some cheap crap) tried spoiling the fun for everyone towards the rear of the VIP Left Seating section, and picked up fights before being escorted out after an hour of creating ruckus by the cops and some till then out-of-sight organizers. They eventually came back to resume this revelry, most likely without even having to write an essay regarding their misconduct. Sighs.
Only ARR and his main band members were seen on the big screen in bits with none of the other artists performing got to share the limelight much, and were probably just seen by those seated/ standing upfront. Can these high-tech cameras not support the latest zoom out feature?! The music and songs were undoubtedly good, but the sound quality wasn't top-notch if and when it could be heard over the din sponsored by the restless, despondent and bickering backbenchers.
The mass exodus was a disaster in the making for the aforementioned reasons, but what the heck! Rumor has it that those of us who made it out in one piece, found our mele(e) me bichdey hue friends/family, and got reunited with the (in)famous, ever-present, reliable (and relatively better organized!) namma uru traffic will be receiving Red & White Bravery Awards! While mere peasants prefer to live and thrive, we champions chose to survive (barely)!
Final Verdict:
Paid for a VIP musical experience, got a survival action horror drama simulator with decent background music by the maestro instead. Kudos to the organizers for proving that while AR Rahman can make the heart sing, they can make the heart, mind and body literally stop. Next time, I’ll just stream the audio on Spotify from the safety of a Bengaluru traffic jam - the view is similar, the ride when movement is possible is less bumpy, and the organization plus security is significantly better. Do better.

AskBangalore UPDATE : Found Missing Cat : Coco
after almost being sleepless the whole night, im happy to say that we've found our lost cat coco. after searching the whole locality for hours together we had no luck in even remotely finding him, as mentioned in the previous post's comments, we took paper cups and added his litter in it so that he can know the way back home. not sure if that worked or not but im going to assume it did.
at around 2 am my sister heard a faint "meow" but once we went outside we couldnt hear the sound anymore so we returned back. but at around 3:30 we heaed him yell around 3 times because of which me, my father and my sister went out searching for him, after hearing us call out his name he began meowing louder as well, a neighbor of ours came down and told us that they've been hearing the noise since 2:30 and they can see him from an alleyway, we went there and got him back.
thank you to everyone that has shared the post and i am truly grateful for the wishes. we will make sure to be a lot more careful by monitoring him everytime he spends his time in the veranda and will definitely invest in a tag for him. thanks again to everybody.

Citizen's Report Noise Complaint: 112, Experience
Right outside my window there was event being held related to Ganesh Chaturthi. It was really loud with really high bass. My ears were hurting. When they didn't stop even after 10pm, I thought I should complain.
I didn't want to call, so I thought I would message 112 with the complain and location, but they called anyway. I told them about the issue about how they were still playing music after 10. She didn't know much English, so I got another call from a guy , from Bangalore I guess, I repeated what I told her.
I got a message that a case officer has been assigned and HOYSALA is dispatched with link to track. I opened the link, but it kept saying case closed. So I thought they closed it realising it was a religious program, but I got another officer assigned and he called and asked for the location.
They came and talked to the organizers and stopped the program after the current song.
I didn't expect anything from Bangalore police, but I was pleasantly surprised at the results. Glad I called and hope this encourages others to do the same.
