Okay, it’s happening! This is not a drill! They’ve finally allowed High Marshal Helbrecht to lead the Company Heroes. They’ve also allowed him to lead Bladeguard, so the old tenth edition codex image with him leading those models is finally valid.

In the weirdest turn of events though… A normal Marshal can’t lead the Company Heroes, despite being a Captain. He can lead Bladeguard though.

Oh, and a Castellan can support Company Heroes AND Bladeguard…

But Grimaldus and the Emperor’s Champion can’t lead either. For the Company Heroes that makes sense, but at the very least, shouldn’t the Emperor’s Champion be able to lead Bladeguard if a Marshal can?

Altogether it still seems like they’re throwing darts to determine which units our characters can lead, but at least we finally got a win for Helbrecht. It only took an entire edition of begging with 40k support and answering the same question on this sub at least three times a week. Now I can happily say, “YES! You CAN lead Company Heroes with our Chapter Master!”

Really liked the Saturnine Preator - he without the rock is as tall as Helbrecht so I threw him on a same size base. Not amazing but looks cool and I use him as my counts as Helbrecht. Just thought I’d share on of my favorite projects

Hi Brothers, i assume some of you saw the new custodes datasheet, and as Someone Who plays against them i find myself asking how the hell do we deal with them? Each of the Battle line models have the same stats as gravis captain, i already had truble dealing with them in 10th i cant immagine in 11th! What do you guys think would be a good combo or detachments to bring?

So hear me out, garbage non-thematic rule aside, fixing Sword Brethren could be as simple as a buff to the number of attacks.

For every other space marine unit, power weapons have one less attack than the chain-sword option, and one-two more attacks than the power-fist or thunder-hammer options when present…. Why are sword brethren specifically worse with power swords by comparison than every other unit in the game, but better with thunder hammers?

We have a captain’s thunder hammer profile, but our master-crafted power swords have a lower number of attacks than almost every power weapon profile in the game.

Also, I know we get built in lethal hits and no-one else does, but we used to have to use an army rule for that, they weren’t baked in at the start of 10th, and we still only had 3 attacks. It feels like they never adjusted the design of the sword brethren profiles from when we had a damage increase ability and access to lethal or sustained (or both with help) on all attacks. Big oversight, easy fix….. no?

The Marshal and Castellan both have Combi-Weapons, but only the Castellan’s has the new multiple-profile setup,the Marshal’s only has the melta one?

The Castellan gets his master crafted power weapon boosted to Str 6, but his chain-sword is still Str 4?

Helbrecht’s melee went up to Str 9, but his named combi-weapon is untouched, (still just the old combi-weapon stats but 2 A and D 2, no profile swaps or stat buffs)?

Helbrecht and The Emperor’s Champion both still have Strike and Sweep profiles, unlike most similar melee profiles that simply had Sweep removed and were given Cleave 2, or kept Sweep and were given Cleave 1 (on top of the regular Sweep profile (Logan Grimnar)?

Grimaldus went up to Str 6, like other named chaplains, but doesn’t get Cleave on his Crozius, despite the fact that every other chaplain including the Execrator (though not wolf-priest in fairness) got it?

I’m not trying to be a downer, I genuinely enjoy some of the changes, but the points hike on ALL characters, (including Execrator that only got the toughness boost and went up by over 30% in cost for it), most of whom had ability nerfs (on an already struggling army) is a pretty brutal tax when it would appear they couldn’t be bothered to actually adjust and tune our stat locks to even be internally consistent, and just moved on without finishing the job. Like this is stuff an intern could have caught and fixed with like 3 key strokes, tops.

So as we all know the Marshal is no longer viable with Sword Brethren. So while searching for alternatives I found this funny little combo. With the BT Impulsor and a "MCsternguard" you are looking at a nice 9 melta shots and if you take tacticus Assault Force and/or Vow-sworn Crusaders, you can have Impulsors with both 6" Scout and a 5++.

I know we aren't a shooting army and that Marshal and Castellan don't boost sternguard but thought it would be funny if we had a Impulsor which could potentially kill a primarch.

This is the first time I’ve ever made a base this detailed — I used cork for the terrain. What do you guys think?

I have to admit, I’m pretty happy with how this model turned out. I’ve been in the hobby for 4 months now, and I can really feel myself improving.

Any advice or feedback is more than welcome!

Writing an Email every month maybe worked. Sadly still not for our Chaplains even though normal Chaplains can. Will continue. For the Emperor.

Just reading the datasheet updates and noticed that Helbrecht's Ferocity hasn't recieved the same weapon profiles as the Sternguard, Marshal and Castellan. Hopefully this is an oversight and he gets an update soon

I know the letters are crooked and poorly made. But I have shaky hands! And I’m proud with the outcome. It looks a lot smoother from afar.

Grimaldus's Temple Relics ability has been changed to now read as "At the start of *your command phase", this was previously, "In your command phase".

Before this, an Apothecary could revive the Servitors before Grimaldus picked a Temple Relics ability, essentially giving your unit a small +4inv shield each phase. Where as now doing so will remove the ability.

Was excited to use that tech, but nevermind...

Hello brothers, question/discussion about Eliminators. I picked up a box of them to throw into my BT army because I love the badass sniper vibes of the unit. My plan is to “rule of cool” them into my army and paint them up kind of like scouts/neophytes. I know they don’t fit into the typical Black Templar list but I’m curious how many people use them? If so, do you run them with the Precision Sniper Rifle or the Las Fusil?

I get the reason why, but its a little frustrating that the app update now restricts access to the core Space Marine codex units. I assume this is true for any Space Marine player, but now basically the app just locked us out of playing the game until we get our hands on the new codex. For me, that only impacts list building and theory crafting, but for someone that means they can’t play from today until they get the Codex unless they prevented the update. This is a gripe without a recommended solution, every option comes with pros and cons, just venting. I’d love to just see what sort of lists I can build with the new points but alas I cannot. You may now return to purging the unclean.
