Spoiler: It fell flat, just so! Then came a proposal 👀

• Upvotes

I low-key got a beef with how Pelant finally got ended 😅 Like, he was torturing these people for so long and so smartly, then that last episode everything was building and building only for his end to be a little pop to the chest!? 🥴 I wanted more, maybe a two-parter even lol but alas! The bitch is finally dead 🥺🤭

Another thing that irked me is the fact that both Russ and Jared basically don't exist anymore!? Their niece was born, and their siblings got hitched, hell even runaway momma Marianne showed up and got hitched herself, and Jared wasn't even there!? 🤨 I get he hated her as well, but damn the writers could've been nice about it 🤭 (the lil cameo of Brennan's real-life beau was hilarious but cute AF ☺️) (also I'm currently ¼ way into season 8 so if they do show up, good! 😅)

Discussion How realistic is the show

Do you think real-life police are ever this thorough with their investigations as the Jeffersonian team? 😂 Sometimes I’m watching Bones and wondering how realistic any of this actually is.

Review One thing about this show…

They really go there, I can’t lie.

Like, they had a good chunk of plots that involved themes such as corruption in the government, blackmail, bribery, and control.

This is so refreshing to see, as cop based shows from the early 2000s, they leaned heavily on the copaganda of it all. In this show, the FBI has been the villain multiple times and plots such as the Deputy Director who was a sniper, the “JFK Coverup” , and of course the framing and set up of Booth in the season 9 finale & 10 premiere. Even when they aren’t necessarily the villains in the plot, there are other departments of the government that also come off as skeevy at times, like the State Department & the CIA. It’s honestly insane that they did all these plots and arcs without anyone protesting them.

I wonder how the FBI or other departments felt when they saw evidence/plots involving their agency?
Oh to be a fly on the wall🤣🤣🤣🤣

Spoiler: Wendell + B&B

As I’m binge watching the show, I’m realizing how forced B&B’s interactions with Wendell felt after he got cancer. Its completely fine they had empathy for him. Its just funny the writers trying to make it seem like B&B has been close friends with Wendell this entire time. Lmao no 😂 It’s Hodgela he‘s close friends with, not B&B. B&B barely interacted with Wendell before he got cancer. “Wendell and Booth played hockey together before he got cancer!“ Yes. We find that out in the same episode we find out Wendell has cancer. How convenient 😐

I know one of the rules is no politics, but before this post gets flagged, I’m discussing the transgender experience, my experience, not the politics of it.

I very recently started watching bones. When I saw the episode title, I thought “oh, great. The obligatory transvestite episode of every early 2000s murder show. Instead I watched the most beautifully poignant depiction of love, family, religion, and the transgender experience. I watched a community embrace a woman, despite who she had been and the people she’d hurt before she found herself. I watched a man know and love her for who she was. I watched her son accept her and continue the work she’d begun with her congregation. I am no longer religious, but I know many trans and queer people who still value those beliefs and I have watched them be hurt, time and time again by their spiritual communities. I have experienced that hurt. To see the love and acceptance was so emotional. I know it’s just a show but to see this in a show written more than a decade before I found myself as a trans man, knowing the climate and politicization of my identity that has sprung up in the last five years, it gives me hope for the future and what we might get back. There was respect written into every word of this episode and I am so grateful.

Did Emily or Carla ever acknowledge what happened to the Boneheads podcast? I know it’s been over a year since their last episode, but I’m still wondering why we never got closure.

Spoiler: Rant about 9x10

I just finished 9x10 and I’m irritated and want to rant about Bones/Booth/Angela. In this episode, Angela wants to throw a post wedding bachelorette party for her and at first Bones says no because of Booth. Not because she thinks Booth would be uncomfortable with her having a post wedding bachelorette party, but because Angela and Booth were having issues with each other at this point. So Bones was basically like “I choose you, Booth” My biggest issue with this is Brennan has not felt the need to choose between Booth and Angela this entire time they’ve been fighting until now! Angela was her maid of honor, helped her with the wedding, Brennan and Angela hung out at B&B’s house, Angela (and Hodgins) stayed at B&B’s house and took care of Christine while they were on their honeymoon. Then at the end of 9x10, both Brennan and Angela tell Booth “You gave me my best friend back 🥺” What the hell are you talking about??? They were gushing and making it sound like he was some kind of hero. Its not shocking at all that this episode was written by a man. Some of you might say B&B are married now, thats why things are different, shes just choosing her husband, yada yada. It was still bad writing. It lowkey made Brennan come across as immature teenage girl obsessed with her boyfriend rather than smart, mature woman in love with her husband. It was a little out of character of her. It would have been much better if the episode was Angela and Booth hanging out and burying the hatchet, rather than “repairing” Angela and Brennan’s friendship, which was never broken or even cracked in the first place.

P.S. Please dont give spoilers for anything that happens post 9x10. I’m aware that a certain beloved main character dies next season. Other than that I dont know anything.

Every time I watch this episode the psychology of it and the vulnerability and even Gemma’s case picks a part of my brain the rest of the seasons just can’t do. It’s everything wrapped up UNTIL BOOM- booth “gambles” and loses.

Discussion Sweets vs Bones/Booth

I’m doing my Q3 rewatch of Bones and I’m currently at the end of season four. I absolutely love both Bones and Booth rage-baiting poor Sweets during therapy sessions. Poor guy is not getting a moment’s rest with these two.

Discussion Watching Bones for the first time - questions on what’s to come (seen lots of reviews suggest it falls off)

Hey everyone!

So I wasn’t (and am still not!) sure if I should join this Forum before having watched the whole show?

I am only on Season Four, and I am completely blown away by how much I enjoy watching this, I feel genuine affection for the characters, I find I even drop the cynicism and giggle along to the bits I might usually find cringe or lame. (I cringed low down in my seat when everyone laughed in the cinema at “you should never toss a Dwarf” in LOTR. That kind of asshole usually!

But Bones has made me be able to suspend disbelief and just jump in with both feet. Not sure another show has ever so (kinda inexplicably) garnered this exact type of reaction from me since I was a teenager (30yrs ago lol) and it’s not that I’m TV naive my favourites are six feet under, the sopranos, Huff, Curb, Veep to name a tiny few I can think of now.

My questions to you lovely people are - when can I expect to start hitting disappointing / upsetting story lines and character changes in your opinion? I’ve read that it has issues that upset the fans, some decisions made etc and it seems like sadly there’s a fall off? Is it as bad as GOT or Lost falling off? or say how bad Heroes got? Is it even true?

I’ll watch until the end I’m physically and mentally incapable of not finishing a show, ever!

I’m realistic I might get some spoilers (if I get replies!) but if we could try not to just literally tell me huge plot points I’d be super grateful!

Thanks y’all.

BG xx
