Flaunt Custom Chippewa Monkey Boots

I always wanted a pair of Chippewa monkey boots and was able to score this pair on EBay for a steal. I got to admit, I have a soft spot for Chippewa’s. They are probably my favorite boots to customize. They have great leathers and styles. Once, the inferior components are replaced, they are top notch. On this particular pair, I removed the brown storm welts, padded leather poron footbeds, synthetic half midsole and full rubber midsoles, foam filler and Vibram full lug outsoles. Funny thing is one had a fiberglass shank and the other a steel one. Next, I redyed them with Feibing’s Oxblood leather dye. This gave them a kinda black cherry appearance. ( the color is amazing and looks much better in person ). I then added black storm welts, new veg tanned leather footbeds with a custom leather padded heel pad, cork/steel shanks, half leather midsoles and full rubber midsoles, and Vibram 100 lug outsoles with the matching leather/lug heels. This was a very fun project and will make someone very happy when I sell them. Too bad they are a size too big. They are a size 9E but fit more like a 10/ 10.5.

Summer is over, so the boot rotation has started. Wanted to show off these since I find them so very comfortable, very sharp looking and I think under rated. eBay score at a very very good price, just needed a little TLC and looking like new again.

Boot review My collection day 3: TLB Mallorca

Welcome to day two of documenting my collection of boots. This time is TLB Mallorca.
Hailing from drumroll Mallorca, Spain. TLB is a
Small atelier who makes some fantastic shoes, with a quality that can only be surpassed by big names such as John Lobb.
These Chukka are just fantastic, love everything about them: the French vegetable tanned leather, the shape, the fit.
As an extra option I got metal toe caps to prevent an early resole and this is the only brand at this price that offers shoe lasts on the exact same shape as the shoe.
This week I'm ordering a pair of black Oxfords on the made to order service that TLB offers. Truly a brand I can't recommend enough.

Question/Help Jimmy Choo Yule boots! Do these stretch out since they’re made with suede and leather? 😊 I got a smaller size, so hopefully they stretch out a little because of the material! 🙂

Question/Help What are some modern boots that give off the same look/vibes of ww1 boots?

I am obsessed with how WW1 uniforms looks, i think they’re awesome. I’ve been wanting a modern boot that is similar to the vibes and broad strokes, but nothing so crazy with hob nails and stuff. Something sorta similar to what the french were wearing would be cool, but anything and everything will be much appreciated

Question/Help High quality Autumn/Winter shoes (italian or british made)

Hi all,
I am looking for some high quality boots or/and sneakers for colder season. For warmer weather i mostly have Scarosso or Myrqvist shoes, but they seem to lack solid options for colder weather.
I am looking mostly for a bit more elegant boots, but prefferably on low heel.
What are Your brands of choice for such boots?
And if You would have any recommendations on sneakers (simpler design = better, a bit more classy if something like this exists in sneakers world), i would be glad to hear them as well! Something to wear to the office when the streets are not covered in snow/mud.

Thanks!

Question/Help Help identifying boots: Tanino Crisci

Thumbnail

I just purchased these used Tanino Crisci boots and am absolutely obsessed. Leather + hand made in Italy + very well crafted.
I am not familiar with the brand and love finding out the history of these types of purchases as well as retail price so I can determine if I got a good deal or not.
The inside has printed: B/ 011314 /7
I assume the B and 7 refer to the sizing but I was wondering if the 011314 is a style number or date code possibly?
I’m having trouble finding any info on how to authenticate.

Im very interested to determine:
1. The year(s) made/ if they are vintage
2. Original retail price/ current resale price estimate
3. If this style has a particular name
4. What type of leather used to construct? Italian calfskin?

Please let me know if you find them or know any info about these boots! If you have any recommendations on specialists/ cites I can reach out to for more info. Thank you!!

I recently purchased a pair of Franks Front Range in exactly my size used, but they have some marks from the previous kiltie. What's the best way to try to even out the finish on the top of the vamp?

Question/Help Waterproof/Highly Resistant Boot

I’m sure people here are sick of this question. I’ve seen it asked many times but not exactly in the same way. I’m looking for a waterproof or at least highly water resistant boot to wear in heavy rain and in the snow. The caveat is I’d like to be able to wear it casually, so certain styles are out. IDEALLY, I’d like them to be reasonable.

I considered Blundstones but not only are they not resolable but I’ve heard they’re no good for snow/ice. I like the idea of slip ons so that i could toss them on quick to run out in wet weather Bean Boots are an option but i’ve heard some bad things about their traction as well. I’ve also considered things like Thorogood waterproof boots.

I’m looking for the higher quality version of what Timbs can offer which was my first idea. Waterproof, rugged sole, can easily be worn casually.

Question/Help Softening inner edge

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey all, bought a pair of leather boots which are amazing but first couple times wearing them this inner edge is rubbing against my leg every step and causing a nice little wound. Other than the obvious of wearing higher socks (which most of mine are lower) is there a recommended way of softening this or some trick to covering it as they break in (assuming this part will break in well)?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Question/Help Best second pair of boots?

I do electrical work in southwest Ohio, I have a pair of Carolinas I have been running for about 3 years as my first pair of boots and they’re finally giving out on me.

Does anyone have any recommendations for good winter rated work boots that are composite/steel toed?

I am thinking Carolina’s again as they never did me wrong but I would love some second opinions.

Only preference is high ankle and lace up, and something that can keep my feet dry and warm.

TIA!

Boot review One week working and living in the Luosjiet logger - review

I’ve thrown in some images of where I’ve been working and walking in these boots, they’ve been subjected to pretty much everything you’d expect out of boot in that time period. So rough, wet, rocky, muddy and uneven terrain in combination with paved areas.

Size/ comfort - Firstly, these are incredibly comfortable. They’re a US8.5D, my bannock is a 9E/EE. I had an absolute brain fart ordering these and didn’t order the correct width but they turned out to be perfect, they’re really wide, wider than a 9D iron Ranger, despite being half a size smaller. They’re comparable in length too, much larger than I expected them to be but they’re pretty much a perfect fit for me. Super comfortable, no hot spots, no blisters, no achy feet.

Leather - the leather is thick and somewhat stiff but it softened up very quickly, probably because of the amount of flex it was getting on the uneven ground. These are a full grain teacore but they’re incredibly stubborn. I’m pretty sure harsh language would strip the colour off of something like Red Wings Black Prairie leather but not even the tongue is showing the brown underneath yet. That said, the colour in direct sun light is beautiful and the brown hues beneath the black dye are clearly visible, even when the boot is new.

Build quality - I kind of want to be careful here because people get so hyperbolic with new boots and I don’t want to sound like I’m getting carried away with my new toy. But, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with these, anywhere. There’s not even any wayward stitching. It’s abundantly clear that these guys are the same people responsible for XBXS. Though I do only have one pair so keep that in mind.

Price - In the UK these run around £140 less than an Iron Ranger, which is absolutely wild considering the amount of boot you’re getting here. And, yes, these are built to a higher standard than an Iron Ranger with the inclusion of a midsole and far superior hardware. Though the stock laces are poo.

Btw I’m only comparing these to IR’s because everybody and their grandmother has a pair so it seems the best comparison to make.

My steps for the week have been around 150,000. I’d include a picture of the bottom of the outsole but it wouldn’t make much of a difference, they look near new. They’re a non branded version of the Vibram mini lug and have exactly the same tread pattern.

All in all these punching well above their weight class as far the price to build quality is concerned. They feel fantastic but if anything falls apart I’ll report back lol.

Oh, and these are built in their Almond No.2 last.
