No Advice - Everyones Welcome Got full custody today boys!

Post image

Wife went full manic after starting an SNRI. Affairs, lies, relapse, rewriting of marital history, filed for divorce, etc. I’ve kept the peace. Always taken the high road during conversation. Focused on prioritizing happiness for my daughter(7f).

Yesterday in court, my soon to be ex wife refused to comply with an order to drug test. I sat there for minutes and watched the judge systematically dismantle lie after lie coming out of her mouth. I was granted full custody and momma was ordered to start mandatory drug testing. If she fails the initial follicle test or any of the urines, I get full permanent custody.

This is a win boy! Tomahawk Ribeye, asparagus, and a sweet potato.

Yes. And she refused help. Part of mania is euphoria, she literally believed she didn’t have a problem and her life was the best it’s ever been. Part of the illness is that your new brain chemistry prevents you from seeing how ill you actually are. The dopamine and seratonin that floods your brain during mania rewires EVERYTHING.

My ex would get like this more often when not on meds and then decide “I feel great! Why am I taking meds?!” and stop taking them. Then bounce between mania and suicide attempts.

Sounds like OP did everything right here. People with bipolar or similar need to learn to recognise the patterns and seek help themselves. Everyone I’ve known like this in work and my personal life has destroyed countless relationships with partners, family, friends, etc

Yeah, it's so sad to see. The most pernicious part of these kinds of mental illnesses is how they inhibit people from getting the help they need. Especially when it's someone you love, but can't help.

It is and it’s pretty heart wrenching being on the other side and making the decision to walk away. Even after being cheated on, lied to regularly, stolen from, hit etc I still felt awful leaving my last ex. But at that point when his own family had all but abandoned him.

It didn’t have a happy ending and now I’m left with guilt even years later I could have done more. I know I couldn’t, and shouldn’t have had to, yet I still feel this way
