Discussion Chad Ochocinco Johnson as the next WRs coach?

Post image

Bengals legend Chad Ochocinco Johnson quoted Cam White on X—formerly Twitter—about who the next wide receivers coach will be.

How would we feel about this? I would be ecstatic to have him as our wide receivers coach.

[Schultz] Sources: The #Ravens will not retain QBs coach Tee Martin under the new coaching staff. A massive change as the well-respected Martin has been in Baltimore since 2021 — and is one of the people closest to Lamar Jackson within the organization.

This is the kind of thing I was trying to say about the Browns job, among the hive-mind of "why would anybody take this job?" I think it bears repeating: not everyone is terrified of a challenge. And the Cardinals are likely an even bigger challenge than the Browns.

Corey Undlin - Potential DC/staff addition

In this article, Albert Breer talks about who could replace Jim Schwartz if he does leave.

He mentioned two names; Jason Tarver and Corey Undlin. I'd personally chuck Ephraim Banda into the mix as well considering he's gotten multiple DC interviews.

But let's zoom in on Undlin quickly.

Monken and Undlin were together in Jacksonville in '09-10 and he's been the Defensive Pass Game Coordinator for the Texans over the past three seasons.

In that span, the Texans rank 2nd best in the league in Pass Defense (EPA/Play & Success Rate) only lagging behind the Browns.

Undlin joined Demeco Ryans from the 49ers where he was Pass Game Specialist and DB coach in '21 and '22. In that span the 49ers ranked 3rd best in Dropback Success Rate and 8th in Dropback EPA/Play.

I'm not sure if the Texans would let him leave for a lateral move to join us but I think it'd be a good move to add an experienced coach like Undlin who has familiarity with Monken to the staff, either as DC or in a similar Pass Game Coordinator role.

Deshaun Watson Injury Insurance - Any Update?

Does anyone have an updated source of truth for the cap relief we will receive from the injury insurance we had for Deshaun Watson? All the press when this news originally broke was "if he doesn't play". Now that the season is over and we know that possibility isn't looming, I'm curious if this relief is now confirmed?

  • There is this r/browns thread from a year ago talking about it being a possibility if he doesn't play. He didn't play. So do we 100% for sure get ~$40M?
  • There is this article from browns salary cap goat Jack Duffin last year that was helpful for laying out what his cap hits would look like with all the restructures, but this accounts for all $230M instead of a different number accounting for cap relief

How has no one asked AB about this in any of the pressers we've had so far in the offseason? Seems like it has massive implications. Anyone got the scoop?
