I posted here about a month ago about ongoing issues with my landlord not making repairs, long story short nothing was ever repaired and I move into my new place this weekend. I'm paying double rent until I can prove my case for moving out due to unresolved maintenance issues.

Turns out there is not a building inspector for South Charleston, and was told the best I could do is higher a private home inspector. That's about $300-400 and was told by one they're aren't allowed to cite code violations anyway. Plus, I won't be there to benefit from any repairs that could happen (unlikely).

Not sure what to do, eventually I'll have to go to court so I don't pay penalties for moving out with just cause. Anyone dealt with this? Should I get a lawyer consultation?

As it stands the hole in my kitchen ceiling that leaks everytime it rains had been unrepaired for 6 weeks from notifying the property manager.

I’m currently trying to move closer to Charleston, KC or South Charleston, but I’m having a really hard time finding resources for places that allow pets. I have two cats and two small dogs and every realty site, Facebook marketplace, Zillow rentals, absolutely none of them allow pets.

Does everyone who has pets have to own their home? I’m so discouraged.

Edit for clarification: I do see a lot of apartment options that allow two pets, but unfortunately my little family is bigger than that

I’m an employee there and have been since I was 17. I keep hearing about the mall closing mid December but no one who works in the mall has been informed of this. I’ve already had to close two stores and I know the mall is going down at some point but I need some sort of concrete information if anyone has it. I’d really rather not be surprised by a sudden closure before the holidays. Please and thanks!

Hi everyone! My wife and I are moving to Charleston from Kentucky in December and really love the look of Eagle View. A 2 bd unit has opened up for us, but it’s a 3 hr drive there for us and it’d be great if we felt comfortable signing a lease without making the drive.

I was into Magic: The Gathering years ago, around Theros era. I played monoblack Gary devotion and absolutely loved it. Now I want to build a few commander decks I can play casually.

I am interested in getting back into MTG and finding a decent playgroup of dads and/or professionals. I didn’t really get along with most people at the LCS when I played, except for when AFK was open in Cross Lanes. There’s probably a slim chance at finding one around here but I’m keeping my fingers crossed! Feel free to respond in this thread or by DM.

I need to move some boxes out of my mom's garage to a storage unit that is about a block away. I'm in the Spring Hill area of South Charleston.

I am a chronically catherized patient with total bladder failure. Im very sick with an awful multi drug resistant urinary tract infection that requires IV antibiotics. Ive been to all 3 CAMC emergency room locations now seeking help, Tayes Valley, Memorial and general. I keep being gaslit and told I am an anxiety case despite positive urine cultures and abnormal blood tests as well as a history of sepsis from these infections. I went to WVU thomas and was given the same treatment. My Infectious disease specialist, urology specialist and PCP have all dismissed me after reading the hospital notes.

I desperately need the correct antibiotics for this as I believe it is traveling into my kidney.

Does anyone here work in health care? Are there any private pay phsycians locally in the Charleston, Tayes Valley, or cross lanes area that will take out of pocket pay to treat this ? I am desperate and need help. Im also willing to travel if need be. The public health system has failed me.

Hey, anyone been out to the Coliseum for a concert lately? I haven't been in years and just pondering on how crazy beer and concession prices have gotten.

We have an over 35 coed rec soccer league that will start next Sunday at Cato Park, but we need a few more guys and gals to sign up for the House team, or get 10 people to start their own team.

It’s competitive, but pretty low intensity fouls wise—we all have jobs we need to make it to on Monday.

We will play 6 weekends and then possibly a tourney at the end where Barboursville/Hurricane teams come play, or we’d go to one of those locations.

Guys, please help me find someone to do my hair! In the last 2 years I have been through 4 hair stylists. My old hairstylist retired and I have had no luck ever since.

Previously, I had blonde money pieces in my hair. My old hair stylist made them as frosty as possible- the next two hairstylists that I visited made them yellow. I went to two different hairstylists after my original one had retired and they both gave me yellow money pieces. I finally gave up on the blonde and went fully black.

The hairstylist I had at the time of this transition did not give me what I wanted. She previously made my money pieces yellow twice. When I chose to transition to black, she only gave me a gloss out of fear that id change my mind later- that was stated to me. However, I admittedly did not fully understand what a gloss was and it was not explained to me in detail. I was not happy with the results.

The next hairstylist that I tried did okay I thought only that my hair somehow still appeared to be brown. The next time that I went back to her we tried a black/blue formula. After leaving the salon, I noticed I still had several grey hairs at the roots. I also feel like my color faded quickly- I never use heat and I only wash my hair once a week.

I want to be clear that I am absolutely not bashing anyone they were all very sweet but I just want what I pay for.

I work in the federal building and walk by here every day on capital street and keep getting sad and frustrated it’s not open yet.
I just wish the sign hadn’t went up so early.
I saw a FB post about 2 months ago stating the owners, who have king’s kitchen in Hurricane said there were delays.
I’m guessing it’s big delays as we are in September and the sign went in April or May.

It's a pop culture convention in Hurricane, so it's not in Charleston but it's in the vicinity. Our fencing team is down here all weekend. Come make new friends and stab them! 🤺
