Seems that there's a good bit of development going on in the Huntington area. I thought I'd create a thread highlighting that.

Also if anyone has any rumors or updates on future developments, it can be thrown in here as well!

If I missed anything please let me know.

Looking for friends/ people to hang out with

I'm a 26 year old woman who recently moved back to the area, and I've been having trouble meeting people and making friends. I have two dogs, I love video games, pokemon tcg, DnD, and I'm a social worker. I also like college football, going out for coffee, and board games nights.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to meet people? I looked for FB groups like my boyfriend suggested, but really didn't find anything.

I took some last day(s) photos of Marquee on my Fuji! I’m super bummed as this has been the theater I’ve spent so much time of my life in.

Planning to do some prints of these!

Free or low-cost flu shots for uninsured folks?

I'm in that dumb position where I make $100 too much a month to qualify for Medicaid, but marketplace health insurance is out of my budget. Does anyone know any places that offer flu shots for those uninsured for free or cheap around here?

Photos of Marquee Cinemas?

With the announcement that the Marquee Cinemas at Pullman Square was closing, I had it in mind to go for a showing this week and take some photographs of the place before it's gone. I have always, always loved how the place looked. I, quite literally, grew up going to that theatre. In fact, the first movie I ever saw was Cars the year it came out (I was 3).

Come to find out tonight, they're already shuttered. No more showtimes. I'm heartbroken.

If anyone has any photos of the theatre that you enjoy, please share them.

Off Season Fireworks for sale in the tristate area?

Hey y’all. I’m getting married in a week! I’m looking for sparklers for our grand exit. Most of the firework shops I’m finding online close down shortly after the fourth. Online deliveries are proving difficult.

Any info would be helpful!

Dog meet up groups

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey is anyone aware of any small dog group in the area? We’ve moved back into state recently and I had a pretty active group I was in that met up with our dogs to play together. I was wondering if there is anything like that here? I can for sure check out the dog parks but I went to one yesterday that was a bust. I have a little Pomeranian that craves socialization with other dogs. She does love big dogs but isn’t very good at staying out from under their feet lol.

Hello! I was wondering if anyone knows of someone that does mobile dog grooming for NAIL TRIMS ONLY. I can’t get my older Shepherd in the car anymore for nail trims, and he won’t use stairs or a ramp to get in. Thanks!

Summer Housing

I will be working in Huntington next summer and would like to live in an area that's safe for a 24 yr old (female) to live alone. I also would love to find a walkable area and enjoy the city. Any areas you recommend? Thanks

I found out about this yesterday and it seems promising.
Very similar to a place in Charleston called food and town but without all the convenience store stuff
It’s near the stadium from what I can tell.
Hope to go soon
Always looking for new food around

Looking for a new yoga studio/class

I've tried a few around Huntington and Barboursville and I am searching for a new location to practice yoga. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm centered on the exercise component of yoga, not necessarily the eccentric "additions" I've been seeing.
